Against Demons, Without Heroes

Normally, heroes are summoned to defeat a demon king. Normally, humans are universally weaker than demons, and will often take heavy casualties for very little gain. Thus, heroes usually represent mankind's shining hope. What if they didn't exist? What if the only thing that mankind had to fight against demons were flesh and blood? This is a series of short stories that explore the theme of "What if there weren't any heroes?" in a demons vs humans setting.
