Chapter 2: At the Cemetery

As I waited for the class to start some more student started to come in and seats started to fill, a few more minutes and I see Elena with her friend Bonnie have taken their respective seats. I was seated three seats behind Elena, Bonnie was seated right in front of me and two seats beside me sits the guy with the dark glasses. Bonnie and I exchanged a familiar glance to which she smiled and I responded with a smile too, a minute after the bell rings indicating the start of the class a teacher came in, male , late 30's, dark brown hair, wearing brown pant and blue checked shirt.

He started the classes with local history of Virginia "Once our home state of Virginia joined the confederacy in 1861 'it created a tremendous amount of tension within the states'. People in Virginia's northwest region have different ideals."

As he was teaching I noticed various interaction between the two doppelgangers, I chuckled and thought 'Another one of Nature's bizarre game, another sets of doppelganger attracted towards each other, let's see how long this one lasts'. I see Bonnie helping her friend by texting making her aware of her newfound hot crush. As the class ends everybody lefts to attend the next class, next class was French for me believe it or not I'm very good at it. I entered the class glanced around and noticed an empty seat and took it, it was right behind Elena 'what a coincidence!' I thought.

Elena turned around smiled and said "sorry for the disappearing suddenly before, a small family matter" to which I smiled and replied "No problem, we all have to look out for our family."

As I was talking I noticed a stare, I turned around and there was a guy 6 feet tall, blue eyes and short dark blonde hair with stereotypical football player looks staring at me with a hint of jealousy in his eyes. I turned to Elena point toward the guy with my eyes and asked "Who's that guy, your boyfriend?" she took a glance and said "He's Matt a close friend of mine" As we were talking the teacher entered the class and started teaching, it was basic French. After the French class the rest of her classes was different than mine. Without the obvious doppelganger interactions rest of the day went pretty normal.

After the school ended I went outside picked up my car and drove up to the nearest bouquet shop purchased a bouquet of heliotropes and a bouquet of purple hyacinths and went to the town cemetery, I parked my car grabbed the bouquets from the seats and walked to the end of the cemetery where there was Anderson family crypt, it was an old town crypt, in the crypt there was two tombs, on one was written "Jonathan Albertine, born 1948 dead 1976" He placed the Heliotrope on Jonathan's tomb and said "I'm back my friend, back to this backward town again but you know this place is not so much boring as the last time."

The other tomb was much more ancient than the other, there was only a name 'Morgana' no birth date no death date. He placed the Purple Hyacinth on her tomb and stand there in silence reminiscing about the past, after a few minutes passed the only words that came out of his mouth were "I'm sorry" and then he turned around and left.

As he was walking out of the cemetery he stumbled upon Elena sitting near a grave with a dairy in her hand writing something. He went up to her and said

"Hi"

She looked up smiled and replied "Hi" her eyes turned mischievous and she said

"Had you followed me here?"

I chuckled and replied "No, I'm visiting, I've family here"

"Sorry" she said with a hint of sorrow in her voice.

As we were talking my phone started to ring I excused myself from her and attended the call, it was from John regarding some issues about town's council, after I finished my call I went back but didn't find Elena, only her dairy was lying there. I picked it up dusted it and looked around for her. I amped up my hearing sense and heard Elena and some guy talking, I went in their direction but stopped couple of meters away from them. I saw them Elena was talking to the guy with the dark glasses, I heard their conversation.

Elena squinted her eyes and with a frown oh her face, said "Were you following me?"

I chuckled and thought 'is this her favorite line opener?'

The dark glasses while flustered, replied "No, I, uh, I just… I saw you fall."

"Uh-huh, and you just happened to be hanging around in the cemetery. Don't tell me you're visiting family?" Elena said while dusting herself.

The dark glasses frowned and said "Yes, I'm visiting my family if you don't believe me I'll show them to you"

Elena hastily replied "I'm sorry, it's the fog, it-it's making me foggy. And then back there, there was this-this bird and it was all very Hitchcock for a second. That-that is the bird movie, right? The-the Hitchcock?"

Elena sighed and while smiling she said "I'm Elena."

The dark glasses replied "I'm Stefan."

Elena smiled and said "I know, we have History together."

Stefan smiled and said "And English and French."

While I was busy entertaining myself with Nature's game of 'let's make another doppelganger couple' I heard a voice saying

"Hello creeper, you know it's rude to eavesdrop on someone's conversation."

I turned around and saw a guy 5'10" feet tall, brown hair, blue eyes, square jaw with a bad boy smile on his face wearing dark jeans, dark t-shirt and dark leather jacket. I put on a mischievous smile and replied "I could say the same to you too, weren't you eavesdropping on me earlier."

The guy chuckled and said "it did crossed my mind at one point. Actually but who cares." After finishing the sentence the guy suddenly lunged at Mark and pushed him to the ground but much to his dissatisfaction there was no one beneath him. He stand up looked around and Mark was standing right behind him.

The guy growled at him showing him his fangs, his eyes turned yellow with slits veins popping around his eyes and he lunged at Mark again but much to his dismay Mark held him by his throat, lifts him off the ground and said "You're far too young to bare your fangs at me boy but I'll give it a six with the whole fangs and eyes thing." Mark looked at his watch it was showing 4:30 pm "oh, would you look at that it's getting late, it's not good for youngster to stay away this late from home." Mark showed the guy his watch, he was struggling to breath.

Mark put him down but without releasing his hand, looked him in the eyes and said "you'll forget ever meeting me here and forget all about our conversation, now be a good boy and go straight home." His pupils dilated and Mark released his grip around his throat. The guy went on his knees, started coughing for a few seconds and ran away.
