Chapter 13: You’re Incredible
Faced with the question, Finger appeared to be slightly embarrassed. “Haha. Don’t worry. The duration of the course is four years, so it’s similar to other colleges. After three years of studies, you’ll have to go out to practice in the real world.”
Seeing that Lu Chen was staring at him doubtfully, he continued, “Yes, I’m Grade E now, but I used to be a Grade A top student.”
“Will our blood lineage downgrade?” Lu Chen was puzzled.
“Well… Normally, it doesn’t happen. Before new students come to the college, they will be assessed first. The assessments by Norma are pretty accurate, so most of the time the results will remain the same after the test. Having said that, there were some people whose blood lineage was either upgraded or downgraded after the test, and they stayed the same after that, unless they failed too many subjects.” Finger basically implied that he failed many subjects every year, which was why he still hadn’t graduated after seven years in the college. However, he didn’t appear to be embarrassed about it at all.
“By the way, the lowest grade in the past was D. It was me who broke the record and reached Grade E. It’s said that I’ll be downgraded further after the school opens.” Not only was he not embarrassed, but he was also proud of the fact that he was a trailblazer who was breaking new grounds.
“Well, you’re… incredible.” Even though Lu Chen was involved in countless battles before, it was the first time he came across such a shameless person. At that moment, he was lost for words.
“Thanks.” Finger put on a proud smile. “You’re Chinese, right? I heard that there’s a saying in your country, which is ‘elders are treasures’. It’s the same case for our college. It’s not that I’m bragging, but there’s no student in this college who is more senior than I am, so I know all the tips and tricks in this college. If you have any questions, just ask right away.” He patted his chest, appearing to be conceited.
Despite feeling that Finger was unreliable, Lu Chen had to acknowledge that his senior was experienced regarding college matters, so he asked, “Can you tell me what the 3E test is about?” That was the question he was most worried about. If only humans with dragon blood could pass the test, he would definitely fail it.
He also heard Schneider say something about ‘resonance’, so he wondered if their blood would be drawn out for the test. If that were the case, his identity as a Mystic Warrior would be exposed. Furthermore, he didn’t want anyone to obtain his blood.
“In fact, you don’t have to worry about the 3E test. I haven’t seen anyone who was downgraded after they were estimated to be Grade A. As for what you’ll go through in the test…” Finger looked up, as though he was trying to recall something. “I didn’t have breakfast this morning, and after cleaning up the room, I feel famished. Chen, are you hungry?”
Lu Chen was lost for words. Although he rarely got into contact with other people, he knew a thing or two about human psychology, so he understood what Finger was trying to say. But…
“Finger, I come from a poor village in Vietnam, and for the past three days I’ve had a bowl of porridge only, so… I have no money.” Lu Chen spread his palms helplessly. He realized that he had become more mild-tempered after coming to this world.
Back in his original world, he would normally go hard on the person whom he needed to get information from. In the end, he would either be satisfied with the information he got or send the person to hell in displeasure.
“Haha, you just aren’t aware that you have money. In fact, the student card can be used for making payments. Although you haven’t taken the test yet, the fact that you’re Grade A is enough to ensure that you can get a lot of money in advance,” Finger explained with a wily smile. He was like the Big Bad Wolf hoaxing the Red Riding Hood.
“Really?” Lu Chen took out the student card in shock because he was clueless about digital banks and electronic wallets. In his country, cash and checks were still prevalent.
“I’ll show you how.” As Finger spoke, he took Lu Chen’s student card and ordered a ‘take-out’. Lu Chen had no idea about the price, but he was curious about how this worked. He also told Finger to order more delicious food for him.
There was still some time before the ‘afternoon tea’ arrived, so Lu Chen and Finger decided to tidy up the room together. When all the mess was cleared, Lu Chen felt that he could finally breathe with ease again.

Half an hour later, Lu Chen and Finger were guzzling down pork hocks respectively. Most of the food on the serving cart was German cuisine, which was recommended by Finger. Lu Chen was all praise for the food.
As for the amount of overdraft after they made the payment using the student card, Lu Chen wasn’t concerned about it. If he couldn’t pass the 3E test, he would leave this place. If he could pass it, there were supposed to be other ways to make money. He had learned that the goal of the college was to teach the students to slay the dragons. If he could slay at least one dragon for them, he would probably get a reward.
After a burp, Finger gulped down a glass of wine and stroked his belly in satisfaction. “Chen, thanks for the meal. I’m sure that you’ll pass the exam.”
“Please tell me more about it.” Lu Chen wiped his mouth clean using a napkin. The cooks of the college were indeed more skilled than those in the military service. The pork hocks made by the college cooks were just so much tastier.
“Although we’re not allowed to reveal the content of the test to the new students, it’s no big deal actually. They’ll just let you listen to some music in which the dragon language is hidden. As soon as the mixed race humans hear the music, they’ll start to see hallucinations, which are the answers. The better your blood lineage, the more you’ll see, so this really depends on your blood lineage. You’ll either have or not have any reaction when you listen to the dragon language.” As he spoke, he gazed at Lu Chen sympathetically. “If you joined the college one year later, I’d be able to help you cheat on the exam by giving you all ten correct answers.”
“Why one year later?” Lu Chen was perplexed.
“It’s because the sequence of the dragon language is limited, so they only have eight sets of questions and they change it every year. Therefore, the questions next year will be the same as mine when I took the exam.” Finger put on a smug smile.
Lu Chen was shocked that there were only eight sets of questions, and they wouldn’t even disrupt the sequence. At the same time, he was stunned that Finger planned on staying in this college for one more year.
“What about the mode of the exam?” Lu Chen asked the most important question.
“It’s a written exam. You’ll draw whatever you see on a piece of paper, and our computer system, Norma, will make a comparison. As long as your drawing is 80% similar to the answer, you’ll pass the exam. Moreover, everyone will transform into a skilled painter during the hallucination mode, so you don’t have to worry even if you’re an abstract artist.” Upon finishing his words, Finger gulped down another glass of wine.
Even though Lu Chen didn’t grasp what Finger meant by abstract artist, he was relieved that it was a written examination, which meant that there was no drawing of blood and resonance test. I know what to do now…
