Chapter 4: New Goddess, New Game

[World dissolved]

Everything immediately went back to normal dissolving like a sidewalk chalk drawing melting away around them. The girl held her stare with Neel who was only confused.

[Failure to make combat in proper time I decided to dissolve the world]

Meir stomped angrily at the girl pointing his gun at her head.

"I'm going to kill you, you little bitch! Now come here!" He snarled at her.

"You know that this game isn't really fun anymore right? No need for the theatrics," Falan spoke up calmly walking out from behind Neel who was stunned dumb.

[The segment has ended anymore fighting and I will penalize you]

"What?!" Meir shrieked at her in disbelief.

"Oh shut up you old man I've had just about enough of your shit. You want to play some games? Fine but if any of you fuckers even try to do me or my friends any harm don't expect any mercy either." She said coldly.

"What are you talking about, Saige?" Meir shouted.

She pointed to Falan menacingly. He made a funny face placing his guns down to his side. Falan walked over slowly. Falan reached into his pocket pulling out an envelope and placing it on the ground.

"He broke the rules and did not submit the new team player in his possession."

Meir looked confused before he started laughing maniacally.

"Ha ha, you mean this idiot is the reason why we're all in this mess?" His laughter turned into a roar as he ran towards her swinging his fist at the girl.

Neel stood paralyzed as he watched everything happen. He felt like he was going to pass out. Falan was standing there with his hands by his sides still holding his pistols. His face was unreadable.

"Do you really think you can hit a goddess piece?" Saige yelled.

Her face grew angry as she stepped in front of him. Before anything else could happen, a giant hand wrapped itself around Meir's wrist. Falan had somehow grabbed hold of his hand. Meir screamed looking around frantically before glaring at him.

"Falan is getting time out for using illegal substances!" Saige shouted.

“Wait what?!” Falan howled.

His whole body dissipated into thin air. Meir only shrieked in laughter knowing he was most likely behind a temporary time-out.

"Stupid mother fucker!" Meir yelled.

"Another word and you are next!" She explained.

Saige turned to face Neel who only had a blank stare on his face. Her features softened. She crouched down so they were at eye level.

"Are you alright Neel? Did he hurt you at all? Are you okay?" Saige asked quietly.

"I am fine?" He replied.

"Severe memory loss...I can not help you till you win and if you lose..." She mumbled.

Neel raised his eyebrow in question. Saige smiled sadly at him.

“Failure in this game means death my dearest Neel.” She stated.

[Game: World has begun]

[Welcome to HallowSpace: Goddesses and Guns]

[User is already registered mistress Saige]

Neel stared wide eyed at what was unfolding in front of him. He wasn't sure how long ago they had gone through their last round but apparently it had already been done.

"How long will my Dad be there?" Neel asked.

"That man said he was your Dad?" Saige snickered.

She pulled up a screen glaring at Falan behind bars. Saige couldn't stop laughing at the sauve-looking man pushing her finger above him.

"Falan are you telling me you adopted this kid?" She asked.

"So you are a Dad now?" Meir laughed.

"Someone had to guide him!" Falan defended.

The letters above his head changed to 'Father Falan' underneath 'Allowed to adopt kindred' both Saige and Meir laughed even harder looking at the hardened man glaring at them.

"From this point on if you try it again this time I will be able to tell." She spouted.

Falan groaned putting his head on top of the bars. Saige shook her head amused at the antics.

"This is so weird…"

A light suddenly flashed off in the distance causing everyone's eyes to dart over to it. There were people running away screaming in terror. A huge beam shot out hitting one of the buildings and knocking it down instantly shattering the glass windows.

Neel's breath caught in his throat watching everything unfold in slow motion. There seemed to be someone standing next to the wall, arms crossed. It wasn't until another beam came flying his way that he realized who it was.

The sound of gunshots echoed throughout the building and people scattered like cockroaches.

[5 players on field have instantly died mistress Saige]

"It seems there is something wrong with their perception field. It appears that someone is controlling the game, I'm unsure how." Saige stated.

[You have entered the God Mode:Saige]

Suddenly Saige's eyes widened as if realization struck. She quickly scanned the area until she spotted what appeared to be a large black hole. The ground shook beneath him as the sounds of explosions filled the air. Suddenly Saige was thrown backwards into the wall of a building, her body falling limp against it.

"Sae! What happened?" Meir shouted.

A very tall woman came out of the black hole. Her long white hair floated around her body creating a halo as she surveyed the scene surrounding them. The ground continued to tremble causing everyone to fall to their knees.

“My apologies my dear friend. We will take care of things from here” she spoke to her. The tall woman turned turning her gaze towards Meir and the others.

“Genesis!” Saige roared.

"Oh, it's you somehow you missed the note." She smiled.

[You are being hunted by a powerful god.]

"And what exactly does that mean?" Meir said.

"Oh, you would not believe me if I told you. Let us call it an unfortunate event in our long and illustrious history shall we?" She said.

[Game over]

[System reset]

Everyone watched in horror as their screen popped up and saw everything go back to level one. Falan poofed back onto the streets next to Neel and Meir.

Both of their mouths hung open. They weren't able to process what they had just seen. The entire scenario played through their minds multiple times trying to make sense of what had just occurred. Saige coughed bringing their attention to her again.

"This is no longer Hallow games anymore!" She shouted.

Saige's magic was stripped from her body. Her immortality dropped like chains from her soul leaving her as weak as a newborn kitten. Genesis went from behind ripping them out with her bare hands, each piece dropping to the floor one after another. The three of them fell down crying silently in agony and suffering.

Her body in a puddle of blood on the floor, she stared up at Genesis with tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Genesis you bastard!" Saige choked out, unable to control her voice.

[Please remember all the sacrifices and the great feats that you have accomplished.]

"Oh goddess of fire!" Neel cried out.

Sending a blaze of light towards her she managed to move away from the flames, barely managing to dodge the blast. Gawking at Neel she strolled toward him with fear in his eyes noticing his level did not go back to 0.

"You are no match for me human...but I will make you regret it."

Sticking her hand out she pointed her power a beam of light at the boy. He closed his eyes as he tried desperately to shield himself. The beam of light slammed into his body sending him to the floor. All the energy that had been stored within him left him in an instant leaving him exhausted.

He struggled to keep his eyes open but failing miserably. Finally succumbing to the darkness he collapsed to the ground unconscious. His final thought was that he wished that this nightmare was over as he allowed himself to slip away.

The first thing Neel noticed when he woke up was the coldness on his face. Everything around him began to fade away and soon nothing was left but darkness. Opening his mouth to let out a scream, nothing emerged.

As his mind slowly cleared he looked down to see he was dressed in some sort of white uniform. At least he assumed that it was some type of uniform considering it was completely plain apart from a red cross on the front of it. It was then he realized that something was missing from his chest.

"You will not die in my presence little one." A kind voice beckoned. "I know you do not belong here yet...but this world is yours."

Looking up he found a large group of men surrounding him. Their faces hidden by masks of white. All their weapons drawn. Slowly they started to circle him. Neel felt his heart rate increase. The atmosphere was tense.

Even though they were wearing white masks they exuded an intimidating aura and the way they were positioned made them seem to tower over the rest of the crowd. Their bodies were covered in intricate designs carved into their skin, making it hard for Neel to look directly at them.

"Who are you?" Neel muttered in defiance.

"We are the Children of Death, your future. You have grown so strong, little one. Do not be afraid. Your journey is far from over....for this is your first trial." The child nodded.

Before he could respond the men lunged at him, swinging at him with their swords. Their blade collided with his shoulder drawing a few drops of blood. Neel growled and jumped back evading them once more. One man came at him from behind stabbing him with his sword while one ran forward stabbing him in the gut.

"No!!" Neel shouted as his life force drained from his system.

“Come back again when you are stronger.”

His body fell to the floor unconscious. His head rolling to where his sword laid discarded near him. He could feel a small drop of blood sliding down the side of his face, his vision blurring slightly. It felt like he had run a marathon without stopping.

Neel’s legs refused to carry him any further, forcing him to collapse onto his knees. A loud thud caused him to turn his gaze back toward the group of men. Two stood on either side of him, their weapons in hand. One stood in front of him blocking the other.

"Neel...wake up!Neel!" Saige called.

Nodding slightly he opened his eyes and sat upright. Everyone gathered around him.

"Are you alright?" Meir asked.

“You better not do anything like that again you stupid kid!” Falan argued.

Saige looked unfocus and sick falling into Meir's arms. Meir caught her, cradling her gently. She trembled violently for several moments before falling unconscious.

“She has been trying to heal you for hours.” Meir explained.

"Since now the factions battles are called off it's best you come to my bunker!" Falan noted.

Falan snapped his fingers transporting them back to the top of the base. Meir held tight to Saige in his arms. Falan walked to the door first leading them down the steps to find everything was dark and quiet except for the hum of generators.

The lights flickered on above them revealing all of the men working under him were bodies that littered the ground everywhere. Their bodies were sliced in half and their heads removed from their bodies, their brains splattering all over the ground. Some were still alive, clutching their wounds in disbelief.

Others were dead; their limbs bent or twisted at unnatural angles.

"What the fuck is..." Falan whispered.

Suddenly his communicator flashed a bright blue and buzzed loudly, alerting him that someone was trying to contact him. Looking at his communicator he picked it up.

"Hello!?" Falan said.

"Is this Falan?" Someone said on the line.

"Yes, who is this"

"Starting from 0 means all of your men are dead...enjoy your adopted soldier,"

Falan stared back at Neel . His eyes filled with anger. Falan turned his communicator off and put it in his pocket.

Stepping past Neel he made his way out of the room, everyone following close behind. He stopped outside the door and looked at the corpses lying scattered across the floor.

“Come to my room Meir…bring the woman.” Falan huffed.
