Chapter 68: CHAPTER 68: RETURN TO THE PAST

Dark Reammut felt her body was very heavy and numb before she started to feel pain all over. She wondered what happened to her until she remembered it. She blinked her eyes open while her ears were still ringing from the attack. She thought she had a blackout for a moment but was startled to see the red sky above.

"I'm not… Dead…?"

She tried to move her body to stand. However, she felt something heavy on her chest that didn't allow her to do it. So, she looked down and was stunned to see dark red stains all over her and her surroundings.

What shocked her the most was a man on top of her whose lower half was gone. She froze as she looked at the man's entire body and face. A horrible scream startled her. She tried to find who was screaming but realised it was coming from herself. Her entire being was shaken up with eyes showing she was terrified.

No, no, no! This can't be happening! No! No, it can't be him!

Her eyes blurred with streaming tears falling down to her cheeks. She was in disbelief, fear, panic and in terror. The man's situation makes her vomit her stomach out to her side along with her blood. Afterwards, her hands trembled to touch the man's face.

"Dark, Dark Chronos… No… This, This isn't real… This can't be real…" She whispered.

It was just a moment ago, Dark Chronos was by her side, alive and lively. And she only remembers a small part that took her back to the time of the Revioryx's attack. Dark Chronos had appeared suddenly with a teleportation device that had been used in his hand.

He also immediately hugged her to protect her. The blast from the laser beam throws them away violently. She can feel Dark Chronos rolling with her on the ground and never letting go of her. The final situation was what she saw now to the two of them.

"Dark Chronos…"

Her hands want to move Dark Chronos' face to see her. She wants Dark Chronos to look at her and tell her that he was okay. But… It was impossible. With a half-body, no one can be alive anymore. Not even the strongest human can live with such a condition either.

His blood… It was still flowing from the severe part. And she also realises Dark Chronos' skin was getting colder, a sign that he was no longer with her in this world. She couldn't believe what he said about losing his life earlier. It was like he jinxed himself or predicted he really would die.

"I'm sorry, Dark Chronos... I'm sorry... I didn't keep my promise to keep you alive..."

She changed her position to sitting and hugged Dark Chronos' head to her chest while apologising many times. Her eyes closed tightly but the tears still came out. The loss of Dark Chronos tore down all her perseverance.

She couldn't accept his death…

Revioryx, who had escaped all the chains, attacked all the angels and the Bright Star users. Then, his eyes stare at Dark Reammut, Dark Amilia and Dark Ceilius, the last people who were still alive.

"Dark Reammut! We must escape!"

Dark Amilia ran to her sister hurriedly after she noticed Revioryx's next target was them. She pulled Dark Reammut's arm to move. But, Dark Reammut didn't budge. She looks like a broken doll, waiting there to die.

She no longer cared about her situation or anyone around her. All she wanted was Dark Chronos to come back alive. She finally realised that she missed his desire's stare at her which caused her face to blush all day. Then, she was startled when she began to realise her true feelings for him.

Apparently, she doesn’t consider Dark Chronos only as a friend but more than that. When she thought about it, maybe it was her fear of approaching Dark Chronos. She felt their relationship was unlikely to end in happiness since they were the Deorc Star users. That realisation made her even sadder.

Her chest felt so suffocated while her breathing was getting heavier and harder. She can feel her heart thump frantically, making her feel her surroundings turning darker. If Dark Undria was there, he would say that she was having a heart attack.

Her closed eyes opened when she felt her surroundings were stagnant. She can no longer hear Dark Amilia calling her to leave or hear Revioryx's movement like he was going to attack them once more.

Everything was quiet…

Her open eyes stare straight in front of her. She finally understood what had happened.

"Tucana..."

Her Stellar Spirit Beast was perching in front of her and looking at her calmly. It was unlike before where he was calling for help nor looked weak. This Tucana was glowing with gold auras which she felt belonged to every Bright Star user.

Not just that, she feels Kairi's power in Tucana too. What's going on here?

Dark Reammut, who was confused for a moment, later felt Tucana's tranquillity and resolved to do something. It wasn't long before she realised his desires. Looking at Tucana, her heart finally calms down. She wiped her eyes with her arm before her expression turned like Tucana too.

"Tell me."

Tucana was satisfied with its users. He knows she was strong and smart. So, he smiled at her before he flew and floated in front of her. His wings blew a gentle wind toward her.

Dark Reammut was surprised when Dark Chronos' body and her surroundings disappeared like a cloud of dust was blown away. Now, she saw everything was white and only the two of them were there.

"You know our main power is time, don't you?"

She nodded at his question.

"And we have one advantage among many of them... The advantage of changing time."

"Changing time…?" Dark Reammut gasped with eyes turning brighter.

"We can change the time! You, you're saying we can…"

She stuttered while feeling hope was on their side.

"Yes, we can change the present time to go back to the time before all of this happened. In other words, to the starting point. With this, you are not just changing the time but the destiny of the future. But, it may have some consequences. Will you be willing to do it even if you might change certain things and problems that would occur because of this?"

"I am willing!"

Who cares about the consequences when they need to change this horrible time!

"But! You will also shorten your lifespan to a few hours or years according to the time you take to go back to the past as well as to the future."

"If that's what I have to sacrifice, I'm willing to do it many times, Tucana! As long as the present time can be changed!"

Dark Reammut has made her decision.

"Please teach me how to turn the time, Tucana!" She doesn't want to wait any longer.

Tucana nodded.

"Close your eyes. Release your aura and feel your surroundings…"

Dark Reammut follows. When she releases her aura, she can feel many presences around her. She was startled when she felt a tremendous aura close to her. She wants to open her eyes but stops. The tremendous aura wasn't scary or wanted to harm her. Instead, it soothes her mind which has many turmoil thoughts.

"Kairi…"

She whispered because the aura belongs to her leader of the Bright Star.

"You can do it. Everyone is with you." Kairi's voice sounded in her mind.

"... Why are you…?"

She can feel Kairi's sad smile. She gasped when she finally understood something.

Kairi… He was going to die soon. He was here to give her the last remnants of his power to help her change the current time.

"I hope you can tell the past me to be more alert of Revioryx. He, after sucking my power, has all of your abilities. You and others must help the past me and stop Revioryx from getting his hands on the power. The current time… Take it as a nightmare and foresee what'll happen if we fail once more."

Dark Reammut couldn't help but feel anguish when she heard it. She took a deep breath and released it slowly before she turned her head toward Kairi's aura.

"I won't let it happen! I promise! Thank you… Thank you so much, Your Majesty…"

She was still feeling miserable when she thought of everyone, not just the people around the battlefield but also the world of her current time that would disappear. The past people will still live but only she knew the future people's misery and their sacrifice.

"Go, Tucana. I believe the future of your next period of time can be changed by you and everyone's hand. Just… Don't be sad. We will wait for you in the past even if we don't know about the future. So, cheer up, okay?"

She nodded before Tucana beside her glowed more brightly and enveloped her in it. She can also sense one by one of her 32 stellars family hugging her. And even felt Dark Chronos, Dark Undria and Dark Markia who were not among her stellars family presence encouraged her too. Her eyes can't help tearing up and flow to her cheeks.

When she opened her eyes again, she was already somewhere she knew very well.

"Raaargh!!!"

The headless skeleton monster stood angrily in front of her. She wiped her tears and looked at the monster with seriousness.

"I have defeated you once. And I will do it again this time!" She thought.

Unbeknownst to her, her emblem chain was no longer black but glows in white colour. She lifted her hand at the monster.

"Time Domain Activated!"

The monster didn't understand until it felt its body stagnate and paralyse in place. Dark Reammut looked at it before a bright glowing longsword made of a star holder appeared in her right hand.

"Die!"

She jumped up into the air and swung her longsword at it. The slash blasts away the monster with its light and destroys it. When she floated in the air, only the egg was left behind. She got close to it and touched it.

"It's time to wake up, Tucana." She told the egg.

A moment later, Tucana appeared from the egg and looked at her curiously.

"Looks like you're not from this current time..." Tucana had realised it.

Dark Reammut nodded. "I am from the future. A future that was destroyed by Revioryx. And now is not the time for us to chat. Our future is in danger if you don't transfer your power to me."

"Okay, but I want you to make the same oath you have done in the future to our master of stellars later. Can you do that?" Tucana asked.

"Yes! Because I am Tucana, one of the Stellar family members."

Tucana grinned before he channelled his powers to her, allowing her to use the true power of her emblem.

When Dark Reammut awoke from the realm where she fought the monster, she realised she was in Dark Chronos's arms. At this time, her emblem chain has also changed to white. Only that no one has realised it yet.

Dark Reammut was stunned when she saw him pop up two replicas to prevent Dark Undria from approaching them.

"Dark Chronos."

Dark Chronos was startled to hear Dark Reammut's voice and looked down at her.

"Dark Reammut, are you alright?! How are you feeling?"

He immediately lowered her to the ground but still held her because he was concerned about her condition.

"What happened to you? You suddenly started screaming just-... Mmph?!"

Dark Chronos' eyes widened. Even his words couldn't finish up when Dark Reammut pulled his head closer to her and kissed him deeply.

Everyone around them was stunned to see Dark Reammut's action. Instantly, the sound of broken plates or falling items can be heard around the treatment camp.

Dark Reammut ignores them all and doesn't let go of Dark Chronos for a long time, causing him to get a little drunk with her kiss. Not only that, his eyes slightly closed while hugging her gently.

She can feel his heart thump strongly on his chest, showing her that he was alive. A moment later, she let go of his lips and held his face gently.

"I like you, Dark Chronos..." She whispered to him softly.

She wants to tell him now.

"Huh?" Dark Chronos looked dumbfounded.

He couldn't believe his ears when he heard her confession until she told him over and over again. Her confession overwhelmed his mind. He even thought he was dreaming or someone was pranking him.

After all, he had wanted to tell her too but couldn't do it due to her exhaustion and gloomy expression. Now, knowing he was not on one side, his heart was beating so fast that he felt everyone there could hear him. His lips were also forming a foolish smile but it fell when he heard her next sentences.

"But, I can't be with you right now... I'm sorry." She told him before she turned around.

"What?! Why?!" Dark Chronos asked in surprise.

His heart suddenly feels painful. Dark Reammut shook her head before looking at him with a sad and guilty emotion in her eyes. Her feelings confused him.

"I'm sorry..." She said again before her body gave off a glowing white aura, making everyone there catch their breath.

Dark Chronos' eyes didn't close and watched three pairs of wings appear behind her suddenly. All of them widened and glowed too.

He couldn't let out a word after he saw her emblem chain was no longer black but white and the carving belongs to the power of Tucana, one of the Stellar Spirit beasts.

"Goodbye, Dark Chronos."

Dark Reammut told him before she disappeared from there in the blink of their eyes. Only Dark Chronos and Dark Undria knew that she had stopped time and moved away from there.

Dark Chronos' eyes frowned and became serious. His surroundings were now chaotic since everyone saw the changes in Dark Reammut's power.

"You must follow her, Dark Chronos." Dark Undria went near him.

"And take good care of her. I can feel her body is still weak but her power is rising. Don't let her overuse her new power. She couldn't take it yet."

Dark Chronos snapped his head to him. "You're not surprised she has changed sides?"

"I am but… The aura around her had changed. Not because of her emblem or power. What I mean is I feel she is not herself but at the same time she is. Something must have happened to her that we don't know. So, you must watch over her. Go!" Dark Undria urges him to leave there quickly.

He can't leave there since he has a duty to take care of their wounded soldiers.

Dark Chronos nodded and flew away fast. He wants to find Dark Reammut and find out what exactly had happened to her. He couldn’t accept her ‘goodbye’ sentence because he felt she didn’t mean it at all when she said it.

As for Dark Reammut, she has now arrived at the place where Kairi was fighting Revioryx. She was startled when she saw Dark Hartina's hands had been severed and Kairi was near him while using his power to heal his hands.

Rafiz and Ziphoteninx were the ones seen to fight Revioryx. A moment later, Revioryx suddenly disappears from them and Dark Reammut realises his presence was heading toward Kairi who was concentrating on Dark Hartina.

She immediately used her powers to stop the time and flew to push Kairi to the side. She could have brought everyone there to leave the place but her power was depleting after using it again and again. The freeze of time she could hold would end in a few seconds.

When time moved again, Revioryx appeared as she predicted and he was ready to bite Kairi's neck. Pushing Kairi away caused Revioryx to only bite the air and her sudden arrival surprised everyone there.
