Chapter 8: Ch. 8 – The Dragons

In the center region of the flying islands, there was one island that is the most majestic and the biggest amongst all.

The magnificent building made of marble and limestones shone really bright. Various kinds of plants and trees thrive there.  Even the floating island has a very majestic and beautiful river flow.  Flowing from upstream to the edge of the island, it forms a giant waterfall that is very breathtaking.

Silverwall's skies are guarded by flocks of wyverns that nest in the recesses and caves of the cliffs of the floating islands. They flew freely through the air along with flocks of birds which migrated from the other side of the Ezeroth continent.

"Wow! Is that Silverwall in the middle?"  Rei said when he could no longer hide his admiration.

Princess Lilanna smiled then replied to Rei, "Yes The Elders are waiting in the top of that tower,"

Rei followed the direction Lilanna pointed and looked at the tallest and majestic tower in great confusion.

As he walked to the edge of the cliff, Rei didn't see a road, bridge, or anything that would lead to Silverwall.

He can't even see the plain below them, only gods know how high the Silverwall is.

Rei finally asked while scratching his head, "How do we get there?"

Erwyn smirked and stepped forward, "We fly!"

 Fwwiiiittttt!  Fwiiit!

Erwyn blew the whistle until it sounded so loud, Rei had to cover his ears because the frequency of the sound was so high.

"For christ sake! What was that for?"  Rei complained while rubbing his ear.

"To call our Dragon, what else?"

 "Dragons?"

 Clap!  Clap!  Rrawwr!

Rei's ears were now more sensitive because now he was a Lycan so he could hear the flapping of wings from a distance faintly.

From one of the islands, the two winged reptiles took to the air and flew rapidly.  Their way of flying is so unique and follows the flow of the air.  Slither beautifully almost like dancing in the air.

As they got closer, Rei was once again amazed at the size of the two bluish-scaled twin dragons.

Their wingspan was so big and wide so veiled them in shadow when the dragons flew even closer and landed in front of them. Dust flew and the ground shook as the legs of the two adult dragons landed in front of the four of them

The two twin dragons bowed as if to salute Princess Lilanna.  The woman returned their greeting by bowing gracefully and caressing their jaws.

"Good afternoon, Falkor… Firnen!"  said Lilanna to the two dragons.

They looked very docile and well behaved in front of Lilanna, but not when Rei's eyes met one of the dragons. Falkor, the male dragon with big horns, walked up to Rei and sniffed his body.

 Gulp!

Rei swallowed his saliva, his throat suddenly dry when Falkor's eyes met his.

Erwyn was overjoyed and looking forward to Rei's body which was about to be devoured by the dragon.

"Haha! Dragons must be disgusted as well after observing your soul!"

Rei was very experienced with wild animals during his life as a hunter.  However, not with dragons who have high intelligence.

From the legends he knew, the dragons could also judge a person's identity and decide whether that person was worthy to be their rider. Rei slowly reached out and touched Falkor's nose.  The dragon let out a low growl, warning Rei not to do anything stupid.

Minutes passed, Rei tried to get his thoughts flowing and the dragon closed its eyes and prone down in front of Rei.

Falkor wagged its tail and seemed to be telling Rei to ride him. The Elves opened their mouths as it was the first time they saw someone being able to connect with a dragon's mind with just one touch.

Even Princess Lilanna took at least 5 years for Falkor to accept her.

"How could you…?"  asked Princess Lilanna as she approached.

"I don't know, it just happened. I can feel a strange connection with… him," said Rei as he caressed the dragon's jaws.

A moment later, Princess Lilanna blushed when she realized she was going to ride a dragon with Rei.

"So we are gonna ride together then?"

"I guess so, since Firnen are occupied by your subordinates," replied Rei.

"Okay, let's not waste our time for trivial matters. The Elders are waiting for us,"

After the four of them rode their respective dragons.  Falkor and Firnen opened their wings wide and began to flap their wings vigorously.

 Whoooshh!

With three flaps they were already in the wind and headed for The Elder's tower.

Although, it was just a short flight. Rei was able to ride Falkor with just a wimp of his minds and the reins which tucked on the back of their jaws. Not so much different than riding a horse in his days as a hunter.

The splendor views of Rivendell from above the dragon's back enticed Rei even more. Rei's body feels rejuvenated once he breathed the mist of the waterfall.

He could feel the freshness of the air. Although the altitude was quite high. Despite that, the air was so rich so Rei could breathe freely.

Rei was in awe and occasionally glanced in every direction. He was so happy, like a child on his Sunday picnic.

Falkor glanced slightly to his back. The dragon was very keen senses and clever, Falkor realized Rei couldn't help himself other than being amazed by the spectacles.

The dragon decided to give Rei a bit of surprises. He folded his wing, and suddenly diving down in a steep angle, then upwards, he soared high to the sky till staled upside down and looped at high speed.

"Woaahh!!"

Rei shrieked to the top of his lungs and grabbed the saddle with a pale dead face. He couldn’t handle the tremendous amount of gravity force and almost passed out.

After that mischievous action, Falkor grinned and fully spread his wingspan and catched the tailwind to fly faster.

When Rei gasped and terrified, Falkor chuckled with his deep thunderous voice.

"Are you all right?" asked Princess Lilanna. She tapped Rei’s shoulder gently.

"Yeah, im okay. But is he always doing this?" asked Rei.

"Not really, he just… so happy after meeting you, in fact this is the first time,"

"Sigh, please tell him don’t do that stunt again!"

Princess Lilanna chuckled cheerfully when saw Rei's horrified look and tapped Falkor's back. Give the dragon a sign to fly slow and steady as they were quite close to the landing platform on the base of the tower.

Erwyn's jealousy grew even more, when Princess Lilanna leaned her head slightly on Rei's back.

"Tsk! I swear I will snatch your head in the Arena!"
