Chapter 3: Chapter 3: System and Assimilation.

What?

Emmy was immensely confused by her current situation. Not only was she in some strange place but she was also being asked by a mysterious voice to 'assimilate' with it.

"What are you?" Emmy was suspicious. It couldn't be a person, it's voice was too mechanical and cold, just like those ruined creatures her parents told her about.

[The system is a self-improvement device designed to make the host reach peak potential.]

"Where did you come from?"

[Unable to respond!]

"Why are you unable to answer me?"

[Not enough strength, the potential host is not strong enough yet.]

"What level of strength do I need to reach to know? Tell me quickly!"

[A-rank evaluation is needed for information on the system's origins.]

Emmy was shocked, she quickly took another look at her status and counted the letters from E to A, pursing her lips as she thought that she wouldn't get that information soon.

"Can you at least tell me why I need so much strength, is it so dangerous, it's just us right you can tell me and no one will know," Emmy whispered as she looked around suspiciously trying to bargain, but all she saw was a white space that seemed to stretch on infinitely? She huffed looking back at the purple screen.

[Curiosity killed the cat, the potential host has been judged as too curious and the system has made a decision to withhold information for the potential host's safety.]

"You! Sigh, I can't refute that statement, but how do you know that?" Emmy rubbed her head sheepishly as she got called out but made her confusion known.

[The system has observed the potential host's lifestyle for 3 days in total and has come to this conclusion, however this decision was set in stone from the beginning as the host is indeed too weak.]

Emmy felt like she was being stabbed, while it was true that she was weak, she was merely a young girl after all but it still hurt to hear. She knew she was being a bit silly but she couldn't help it, this was an insane situation. Here she was, speaking with a purple screen in a white space, if she didn't do this she might go insane.

"Sigh, okay moving on, so say hypothetically I accept the assimilation, what's in it for me," Emmy said.

[The system is capable of pushing its hosts to their peak potential.]

"So you'll help me become an adventurer is what you're saying but, what's the catch."

[Reach B-rank in the evaluation and the potential host shall be informed, but keep in mind that the system is unable to betray its host once bound.]

"I suppose that's fair. I agree to the assimilation process, anyway I have nothing to lose in this deal, for now anyway. So how does this assimilation process begin is it ritual or dance related?"

[The host would be relieved of consciousness as the process is painful, the system makes changes to the body to allow the host to reach peak potential faster than most. Does the host agree to this condition.]

"I'll trust you to it without error, and I'm not one to endure pain needlessly,"

[The system will now issue the prompt again.]

[Do you wish to Assimilate?]

[Y/N]

Emmy chose yes instantly and a cool sensation overtook her, she felt drowsy, barely managing to hear the system's last prompt before falling into a deep sleep.

[Beginning Assimilation Process!]

[Assimilation: 1% Completion]

****

[Host!]

Emmy woke up with a start as she look around warily searching for the voice, but then recalled the previous day's events, once again she thought that she might be crazy but the system's presence negated that thought. Looking out the window revealed that it was almost daybreak.

Sighing, she got up to go get dressed while engaging in conversation with the system.

"So, what changes were made to my body?"

[There has been an increase in blood circulation and distribution increasing your healing factor and neural facilities, and the production of growth hormones has also been doubled.]

[Energy circulation has also been optimized and energy circuits awakened, there are many more but these are the most important.]

"There are no side effects, right? Like getting a big muscular form or growing hair all over my body right?" Emmy shivered at the thought of looking like a human field of not grass but hair.

[No abnormalities detected.]

"Okay, that's great."

"Hey so how do I get stro-"

[Host is advised to think their response as speaking out to thin air can make the host seem crazy.]

Emmy was speechless.

'So how do I get strong?' Emmy continued from where she left off.

[The system will organize a training regimen for the host.]

'When will I get this training regimen?'

You are reading story Emmy in Teyvat at novel35.com

[Tomorrow. The system is analyzing and makes a customized training regimen for the host, this way the host will get stronger much faster. The host is recommended to relax before this training takes place as it is grueling.]

[Due note that the system will be unresponsive for this amount of time.]

'Okay,' Emmy thought as she went out of her room and headed in the direction of the bathroom.

Emmy went through the upstairs hallway to a room in the corner, opening the door she went inside and stepped on a stool to reach the sink. Picking up a dark gold toothbrush she began brushing her teeth.

After finishing she went downstairs to where to locate her parents. They were not in the kitchen or living room and even after searching the whole house she didn't find them. She did however find a note on the table when she went there again.

It read as such;

==

Dear Emmy,

It appears there has been an urgent calling for all high-rank adventurers in the guild and we may have to go on an extremely long mission, we apologize for this but we may not see each other for a long time.

We won't go into the details but this mission is extremely dangerous but we shall still go. As such we have placed most of our fortune under your name in hopes that you may live well in case of the worst.

Live well, Emmy.

Sincerely,

Jemma and Arthur.

Emmy stared, she stared at the letter for a very long time before she started walking to the door, that walk slowly turn into a jog as she left the house and closed the door before taking a deep breath. Then she broke into a sprint to the gate, the wind lashing at her face as she bypassed many people on the streets to the gate.

Loads of carriages and horses were situated in and out of the gate from where she could see. There she saw a bunch of adventurers, each of them radiated an intense aura beyond her understanding, and yet she felt a strange sense of awe when she saw these men and women.

One day, she would be just like them, but now was not the time for fantasies, she had to find her parents. She continued to search for her parents in the crowd of adventurers around the gate however she wasn't unnoticed.

"Hey, whose kid is this?" Said a large man.

"I don't know, why don't we ask her?" a woman in blue asked.

"Whose going to speak to her then?" a lean woman with a scar over her eyes asked.

"Not me."

"Me neither."

"So I guess that leaves me then, huh?"

Emmy looked up as a shadow engulfed her in the form of a woman, she had a scar over her left eye and was wearing dark robes. She was extremely tall, well, when compared to Emmy at least.

"Hey, kid are you looking for your parents? I can help you if you want," the woman, spoke in her gruff voice.

Emmy nodded.

"Names?"

"Jemma and Arthur Edgar."

"Oh? those two huh? I did hear they had a kid some time ago, follow me, kid," the woman said as she walked up to a corner by the gate where Emmy spotted two familiar figures. They were dressed in small amounts of plate armor with a carriage right next to them. The two quickly walked up to them.

"By the way kid, what's your name? My name is Melany."

"My name is Emmy, thank you miss for guiding me here."

"That's as far as I'll take you, take care of yourself Emmy," Melany rubbed Emmy's head, then she walked back to the entrance of Mondstadt.

Emmy looked at her for a bit longer before going up to her parents, who judging by their expressions already noticed her. Emmy stopped just in front of them and the three of them settled into an awkward silence.

Truthfully, Emmy wanted to tell her parents to abort the mission so they continue to be a happy family, she desperately wanted to. To Emmy, this mission sounded too dangerous for her liking, but she knew she couldn't stop and that fact brought tears to her eyes. So, the young girl stood before her parents with tears in her eyes and did not speak a single word.

Jemma and Arthur felt their chests tighten as they looked at their daughter holding back her tears. They both moved forward to hug her as she gripped their clothes and wept in their arms.

"Mom... Dad can you... please... be safe," Emmy sobbed as she asked, her voice was soft yet soaked in emotion.

"I can speak for both of us, we will make sure to make it back to you, we shall devote all our power to do so. There shall be no promises but we will give our all to return but... don't be sad in case of the worst," Jemma said as she clenched her fists and placed them on her heart, Arthur doing the same.

Ring! Ring! Ring!

"It seems that our time together is up for now," Jemma said as they both released Emmy from their embrace. Looking at the gate, they say all the adventurers congregating by the bridge, by the looks of it all of them were boarding carriages.

"We shall be going now, farewell for now Emmy," Arthur said as he and his wife also boarded a carriage with several others.

"Goodbye, have a safe trip!" Emmy waved and continued waving as they disappeared into the distance. Emmy wiped her tears as the wind gently blew her hair.

She whispered, her good wishes blending into the wind as she turned and walked to the gate entrance;

Goodbye, mom and dad.

Please be safe.
