‘It is time to wake up sweetheart’. I heard a familiar old and kind voice as I started to open my eyes. The light of the sun was the first thing I noticed, and it was blinding. Currently I was on my back staring up at the morning sun. I could feel the grass beneath me, so I sat up and started to look around.
The next thing I noticed was I was on a hill. Surrounding me were more grassy hills on my right, and to my left I could see a forest. “I guess I really did get reincarnated, but I don’t even remember who I am… or where I am.”
I stood up and began to look down at my hands, but what I saw I didn’t expect. They were covered in dried blood. The same was true for the blue dress I was wearing. I could also feel the blood caking my face. When I rubbed my hand along my face more dried blood appeared on my fingers. “What the hell happened to my body?”
There was too much blood stained on my body and clothes for whatever happened to not be lethal. Either I killed something in my sleep, or the most likely case, this body died. “In any case, where am I?”
There was not even a semblance of civilization anywhere around me. Just rolling hills as far as I could see in one direction, and in the other direction was just a forest. “What was the first thing humans needed again? Was it shelter? Or was it water? I think it was shelter. Yea, I will just go with that!”
With that thought in mind I decided to head… where exactly? Should I try to find civilization first, or should I head into the forest and make a temporary shelter? The goal will be civilization in the end, so maybe I should try to find that during the day? There would probably be a town or something somewhere in these rolling hills. It is also hard to see past some of the larger hills. I will just climb the largest hill I see and look all around. I started to head towards the largest hill I could see.
“It is weird that I can’t remember anything. The only thing I really remember is that lady that reincarnated me here. I can also remember video games among a few other things, but I still don’t know who I am.” I kept walking towards the largest hill while talking to myself.
“Finally I made it to the top of the hill.” It took a good amount of effort, but I finally got to the top of the largest hill I could see. I looked around, and I was greeted with a sight of pure unadulterated beauty. The sight was the sort of natural beauty you can only really see in nature documentaries. There was a plane stretched out beyond the rolling hills. I could make out countless different colored flowers. The sight filled me with awe. I had never seen anything like this, and my stupid mouth was hanging open at the sight. The only thing that destroyed the perfect sight was a dirt road that cut through the plains and winded around some of the hills.
“A road! I might be able to find a village or town if I follow it! My gamer senses are tingling! Maybe the town will have an adventurers guild! I hope I don’t run into the scenario where I become the hopeless damsel in distress that needs saving; although, currently it wouldn’t be so bad if a knight could give me directions. I wonder if there is magic in this world!?” The thought was beginning to excite me.
With my newfound excitement I began to head towards the road in the hope of meeting civilization or at least a friend. I reached the winding road that went through the hills in no time and started to head in the direction of the plains. Behind me was a large mountain, and I bet it would be faster to find civilization in the plains. Humans first came from the savanna afterall. It would make sense to find a village in the plains.
I was pumped to hopefully find a village! It didn’t take a lot of walking for me to start hearing a rumbling sound coming from the direction I was walking. I could hear the clacking of what sounded like hooves in the distance, and after turning a bend I was greeted with the sight of like 12 people riding horses in my direction. “Finally, I am saved!” I shouted with glee while pumping my fist in the air.

They eventually spotted me and started pointing in my direction. It didn’t take very long for them to reach me, but I was terrified their figures were imposing. They all wore solid silver looking armor, and they all had swords on their wastes. I couldn’t even see their faces due to them all wearing helmets either. They took a stop in front of me, and the guy in front dismounted from his horse.
I didn’t know what to do since I was terrified, so I waited for him to speak first. As I was waiting I noticed he had his hand on the sword handle ready to draw it at any time. I was waiting for him to say something. Maybe he would give me a ride into town, but he didn’t even remove his helmet as I was expecting. No, he just stared at me before he said something I didn’t expect at all.
“For committing crimes against our people you will have to come with us!” He shouted through his helmet and drew his sword at the same time. What!? I didn’t do anything to anybody I just got here! I wanted to yell out, but I knew that would be a quick death sentence. He didn’t look like he would listen to reason. “I-I d-don’t k-know who you are mistaking me for, b-but I h-haven’t done anything,” I managed to blurt out. The other dismounted knight yelled from behind the guy in the front.
“Silence! You are the black witch! How dare you say you haven’t done anything! Have you no shame!? Do you realize how many people have suffered because of you!? That blood caking your dress is proof enough, and that black hair is unmistakable!” I immediately started shivering in fear, and I felt something wet running down my legs. Then the guy in front started to speak again, not caring for my plight. He also walked towards me while speaking.
“You will come with us! You have done enough damage already. We will see to it that you are executed for your crimes!” Executed!? No, I can’t be executed. Tears began to fill my eyes, and I could feel the rapid beating of my heart. I covered my ears, and the next thing I decided to do was run. I immediately turned around, and began to run. Before I could run though I felt a sharp pain in my back, and in the next instant there was something shiny piercing my chest.
It was then I realized the shiny thing was a sword. I tried to breathe, but the only thing that came out was blood. As my body was uncaringly dropped to the floor, I landed face first into the ground. I turned to the side and with my arm I began to feel the wound on my chest. Instantly, I knew it was fatal. A torrent of blood was coming out of the gaping hole in my chest.
NO! I don’t want to die! I don’t want to die! It hurts. It hurts. It burns. It burns. The only thing I could make out was the pain as I laid there in my own blood, tears and piss. It took ages for the pain to go away, and when it did the only thing I could see was blackness. In the next moment I felt a sudden pulling sensation, and then I could feel again. The first thing I noticed was a soft prickly sensation beneath me. Then I heard a voice in my head.
‘It is time to wake up sweetheart.’ I opened my eyes, and the sight that greeted me was the sun in my face. HUH!? What is this!? Immediately, I reached towards the wound in my chest, but what was there was nothing except for my dress. Wait, didn't I just die? What is happening!?
I jolted up and looked around only to be greeted by the same rolling hills off to my right, and off to my left was just a forest. “Did I dream of it all, or did I respawn here? If this is my respawn point that will be trouble. Those knights were heading this way!” Instead of trying to face those knights again I bolted towards the forest.
