Chapter 1: Chapter 1: End of the Line

A teacher who looked to be around in his early 30s was teaching a class of 10th graders about basic chemistry. Most of the students were paying attention because this was their first time learning about anything chemistry related. But one student was completely ignoring the lecture. He was not gossiping nor disturbing the class in anyway. He looks like he's the type of person to "keep things to themselves". He looked to be around 17 years old. He had mid length black hair covering his forhead(For reference: similar to Oreki Houtarou's hair from 'Hyouka') and had a beauty spot on the left side of his mouth. He had skin was tan.

The teacher had sharp eyes, he caught the boy just looking out the window and not paying attention.

"Nafi!" the teacher exclaimed.

This seemed to get boys (Nafi) attention. His face showed a nonchalant look. Devoid of any emotion.

"Yes sir?" Nafi politely asked.

"Could you tell me what a base is in chemical terms?" the teacher asked, thinking that he was going to teach him a lesson for ignoring the basics.

'Seriously, this? I already finished the syllabus of even higher level classes for chemistry.' Nafi thought dissapointed.

"Any substance that in water solution is slippery to the touch, tastes bitter, changes the colour of indicators such as, turning red litmus paper blue, reacts with acids to form salts and promotes certain chemical reactions can be classified as Base." Nafi replied without a sweat.

Like seriously this was basic as shit, in his words.

"Hmmm...so the rumors about you were true. The kid who can easily jump to university without even finishing highschool? Are you really that ahead?" the teacher asked in awe.

Nafi replied with a nod.

"Alright, you can sit down." the teacher said.

With that Nafi sat back down on the bench.

"Pffft....show off" one of Nafi's friend said sarcasticly.

"Yeah yeah whatever you say Miloy." Nafi replied with small chuckle.

Miloy was a boy of average height, quite large but not chubby for his age(he just looked a bit bulky), fair skin and spiky hair.

Miloy was one Nafi's close friends. The other "friends of Nafi" as they liked to address themselves as were toxic, talked behind his back and only talked to him when they needed something. But Nafi had been studying human psychology, behiviour and habits for a long time. He knew to distense himself from them. There were only a few people who he knew he could trust. Miloy was one of them.

"I heard his family has a line of geniuses."

"Yeah, I heard his Dad works in a pretty high place. I bet he's a spoiled brat."

"Yeah my uncle works in the same office as his Dad. I heard that his older sister is way more of a genius than him. He's an ant when compared to her."

All these gossips were true. Well somewhat. He didn't know how these jack-asses found out but it was annoying him. Especially the last one. He knew he was an ant when compared to his sister but he didn't need to be reminded.

After school was over Nafi was heading home but then suddenly he was stopped by a girl in her class.

"H-Hey N-Nafi" the girl said stuttering.

'Hmm? Sonia, what's she doing here?" Nafi pondered.

'Fidgeting fingers, legs shaking, turing her body and gaze away...hmm...definitely nervousness. But for what?' Nafi thought.

"W-Well you see...I-I..." Sonia stuttered even more.

"You like me?" Nafi asked.

"W-wha!?" Sonia asked shocked.

Bullseye. Ever since childhood Nafi had trained himself to read people like a book. From body-language and how she was talking, Nafi deduced that she had a crush on him.

"Do you like me?" Nafi repeated louder.

"Y-yes...and I was wondering if you'd want to go out with me?" she asked.

"No" Nafi replied simply.

"Wh-Why?" Sonia asked.

"Because, I really dislike weak, fragile women who throw themeselves at men they like. Do you even know anything about me? My personality, my habits, anything!?" Nafi asked.

"W-Well no..." Soni replied in tears.

"Seriously!? Crying? This is why women are looked down upon by society. Because of people like you, actual strong-willed women don't get the respect they deserve, because

it's "not ladylike". You need to better yourself first. Start working out, learn how to speak to people with power. Start work for the long-term." Nafi said.

It may have been harsh but she needed to hear this. With that Nafi walked away. To other people Nafi might seem harsh, cold-hearted but people close to him call him a "tsundere".

'Ahhhhh...I hope she takes those advices to heart.' Nafi thought sighing.

'Well that got me hungry. Maybe I'll go to the cafe.' Nafi thought looking at a nearby cafe.

[In cafeteria]

He walked into a cafeteria which was pretty full but luckily he managed to find a small table for him to sit on. A girl who looked to be around Nafi's age walked up to him.

"What would you like to order?" asked the girl with a soft smile.

"I'll have the 80tk. BBQ burger and a 60tk. chocolate milkshake." Nafi replied with a straight face.

"Great! Would you like anything else?" the girl asked, wanting to be sure.

"No, thank you." Nafi answered, shaking his head.

The waitress nodded and went to the kitchen.

'Ahhhhh...damn...my assignments are due in 2 days and I still haven't written a single word. I'm still surprised that I still come top at the end of the year even though I'm slackin' off all year. Guess those all nighters come to save my ass.' Nafi thought chuckle.

'I'll have to pull another all nighter with this fucking messed up sleep schedule.' Nafi thought with a sigh.

During Nafi's internal discussion the food had arrived with the same waitress.

"Here you go...one BBQ burger and one chocolate milkshake" the girl said cheerfully.

"Oh! Thank you." Nafi said as he devoured the burger faster than you can say 'shit' .

"Oh.....quite hungry are we?" the girl said with a shocked and a nervous chuckle.

"Well here's the bill"

"Hehe.." Nafi replied giving a nervous chuckle realising that he had done it in front of a person!

'FUUUUCK... she probably thinks that I'm a glutton'

Ignoring the embarassment he paid the bill, took his smoothe and walked out of the cafe ASAP.

'Seariously! What the fuck is wrong with me!!??'

If it wasn't clear that Nafi was frustrated, it definitely was now. As he was walking he went past a homeless man who was begging for money.

"Pleease help an old soul! For the sake of Allah please!"

Nafi looked at his milkshake and thought of giving it to him.

'No! Why should I? This is mine. He can go die for all I care.'

Yep...he is a selfish motherfucker. No wonder he has such a small amount of friends.

After walking a couple of meters he looked at the homeless man and decided, 'agh.. Fuck it.' He jogged back to the man and gave him his milkshake which was still untouched and gave him 100tk .

"Here you go old man, drink some of this and use the money to buy some food for yourself." Nafi said.

"Oh! Bless you son! May allah bless you!" The man exclaimed in joy because of the kindness.

"Yeah, yeah whatever. Just fill up your belly" Nafi said as he walked off.

'Why did I even do that? I mean I don't even gain anything in return. Whatever, at-least he's happy.' Nafi thought.

'Guess I'll go back home now. Hah..."mom" will be furious if I'm late'

[In front of his house]

He lived in an appartment owned by his parents. It wasn't anything special. It was a 4 story long house. He along with his parents lived on the 3rd floor. The rest was rented for other families. But then as he reached the third floor he could hear a male and a female voice shouting at eachother.

'They're at it again? Good thing that you can't hear what's going on in there from downstairs. Heck I'm doubting if anyone could even hear the shouting. I have pretty sensetive ears.' Nafi thought.

*ring* *rong* *ruunnnnng*

As soon as the doorbell was rung the shouting stopped. A very angry looking short woman (5 foot) who was looked to be around her mid 40s openned the door.

"Where the hell were you!!?" The woman said loudly.

"Chill dude. I'm not a 12 year old." Nafi said as he closed the door.

" DID I GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO SPECK!?" The woman screamed really loudly now that it was behind closed doors.

"Bro shut the fuck up. I was only giving you an answer for the question YOU FUCKING ASKED FOR "mother"!" Nafi snapped.

He pushed aside his loud mother aside and saw his father covering his ears.

'I wonder who snapped this time, mom or dad?' Nafi wondered.

"Hey Nafi you hungry?" Nafi's father asked.

"Nah..no need" Nafi replied.

"Maybe if you had a job your father wouldn't be asking" Nafi's mother said smugly.

"Talk about yourself. Plus I havn't even graduated yet. How can I get a job. It's not like time either. I'm at school for 8 hours straight." Nafi replied with logic.

But this woman HATED logic. If stuff didn't go her way she'd snap.

"Uh-huh sure. Go to that filthy family of your fathers. They ruined my whole liife!" The woman screamed.

'Is she mentally fucking ill?' Nafi thought.

Nafi ignored the circus show and went into his room and locked the door.

'Hmm..it's only 07:30pm. I think I can play some games with the boys' Nafi thought.

'Why the hell not?'

[4 intense hours of gaming later]

*knock knock*

"Eh, who?" Nafi asked.

"It's me" Nafi's father from outside the door

After Nafi opened the door he saw his father in trousers and a t-shirt.

"Going to the storage haul?" Nafi asked already knowing where this was going.

"Yeah...a new shipment came. I'll have to go. I may not return tonight" his Dad answered.

" aight...I'll close the door." Nafi said

After closing the main door he went back to his intense gaming session. Even whilst playing he still couldn't stop thinking about his parents.

'Why do they do this? It's not like mom's the only one at fault here. It might seem like Dad has a lot of petience but he sometimes gets annoyed at the small things.

He's a bit of a perfectionist. Whilst my mom has anger issues. She denies logic in every argument and ahh...what's the point anyway' Nafi thought with a sigh of dissapointment.

With those thoughts he again indulged himself in the world of video games.

[1 hour later]

"Yo guys I think I'm gonna get some sleep" one of Nafi's friend said yawning.

"Yeah me too. You should go sleep Nafi or maybe do your assignment idk" another one of his friends said.

"Yeah...maybe I'll do that. Good night!" Nafi replied.

After his friends bid their own good night, he turned off his comuter.

'I'm still not sleepy..do I wanna finish my assignments? Meh..I can do it later.' Nafi thought.

'Should I take a walk? I heard it's quite calming to take a strol at midnight.' Nafi contemplated.

'Sure..why not.'

He starts to get ready. He decides to wear a black hoodie as it's quite chilly at midnight and a red trouser. He quietly gets out of his room and sees his mother sleeping peacefully.

'Good...she's not awake'

He quietly opens the main door and wears the same red running shoes. Slowly and quietly he locks the main door, descends down the strairs and goes out to the street.

Crickets. That's all he could hear. No cars, no people just...nothing. This was a new experince for him. He slowly started to walk around the town. There was only a few street lights but all of them were on, so that it wasn't completely dark.

About 15 minutes had passed since Nafi got out of his home. He'd been walking around randomly, without any care of the world. Currently he was walking in a narrow alley. He then suddenly heard footsteps behind him. Before he could turn around and see what was going on a gun suddenly was being pointed at his head. He froze, in fear of what was going to happen.

"Hey kid...ya know ye shouldn't be walkin' around the streets at this hour." an old man who was holding the gun suddenly spoke up.

'Fuck...this is bad. What have I gotten my self into? I should've stayed home!' Nafi cursed.

"How abouchu empty your pockets without any sound, huh? Imma lechu go without a scratch" the man demanded.

"I-I don't have anything...I'm emp-"

"I don't want any of your excuses kiddo, or else Imma blow up your insides" the man snapped.

Luckily for Nafi the man was in the perfect position for him to flip him over jiu-jitsu style!

Nafi grabs the right arm of the man, which was beside his right shoulder and pulls the man over his shoulder and flips him over to pin him on the ground. He almost succeeds but in process of flipping him over he got shot on his right leg.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHG!" Nafi screams in agony. His red trousers got red due to the blood.

"Well well well...you almost had methere kiddo" the man said grinning like a mad man.

" oy..You..bAsStard...i-i havn't lost my v-verginity yEt...ye know.....did you really have to do that?" Nafi said laughing to ignore the pain. But even more blood was flowing out. Looks like the bullet went through his leg. You could see the floor through that bullet-hole.

"You're dyin' here and you can only think about that? HAHAHAHAHA! You're really interesting kid, shame you have to die. Hey, how about this. I'll finish you off quickly. You can thank me in hell." The man finished with a sick grin.

"F-f...fuck yo-"

*gunshot*

Before he could even finish the man had pulled the trigger. His lifeless body fell over and as the man said, he really did spill his brains out. It was grusome. Beyond explainable.

'This is how I die? Well what a shit way to die. I atleast wanted to kiss a girl or lose my virginity..*chuckle* even in my death my minds in the gutter. I'm sorry mom.....dad, I'm sorry that I couldn't be as good as you hoped. Even though you were shit parents, you both still cared for me...it's interesting how you realise everythin you did wrong in your life when you are dying..I'm sorry sis for being jealous at you....I wonder if I could've lived a better life if I gave it my all....I always put mediocre effort...my biggest regret is...not giving it my alll...hehe sounds like a cliche light novel. Ahhhh....I wish I was given another chance. A Second Chance.'
