Chapter 46: Archangel

After Kouro had intercepted and killed all the Honkai Beast inside the fortress, he realized that there were no more Honkai Beast trying to break through to Nagazora City from the outskirts.

So, he started looking for Honkai Beasts around him while sprinting to Kiana and Mei's location.

Currently, only weak Zombies, who were the weak, disabled, and sick people who had been turned into Zombies because of the Honkai Energy corruption, were present.

Because the animals that were kept as pets were brought along in the previous evacuation.

After all, they knew very well that, in general, compared to humans who became undead, animals that are corrupted by Honkai Energy would turn into Honkai Beasts which were much more dangerous.

So, no one objected the Nagazora City government's decision of allocating a lot of manpower in transporting animals.

However, there would definitely be one or two that escaped the net. The animals that escaped were not pets, but rather wild birds that were flying in the sky.

There were one or two flying birds that were corroded by the Honkai Energy because they weren't able to escape in time, which turned them into a Seraph-type Honkai Beast codenamed 'Archangel' that could fly in the sky.

Compared to the Chariot-type Honkai Beast that Kouro faced the other day, Seraph-types don't have strong defense and could be killed with conventional weapons.

But for Kiana and Mei, the Archangel was very difficult to deal with. On the roof of a tall building inside Nagazora City, Kiana, who was just on a call with Kouro, was suddenly targeted by an Archangel.

Despite wielding the pair of powerful Artemis' Guardian pistols, she wasn't able to defeat the Archangel because its speed was too fast, in addition, it was also able to fly and had strong maneuverability, that caused Kiana great troubles.

Mei, who only had the bamboo sword as a weapon for close-range, could only watch from the side with clenched fists.

She felt like a burden for Kiana for not being able to help.

When the Archangel swopped down from the sky, Mei thought that this was an opportunity to attack it.

5 meters…

3 meters…

Now!

Mei slashed with all her strength, but the Archangel was too fast and she could only slash its wings which made the Archangel's maneuverability to go haywire and made it crash down into the concrete floor on the roof of the building.

*Crack!*

The concrete floor on the roof of the building cracked into many pieces due to the impact of the Archangel, to be able to hit the Archangel in such a situation, Mei was indeed very talented.

Kiana spent a full twenty minutes just to kill one Archangel, and it's also thanks to the special bullets of Artemis made from gathering Honkai Energy. Otherwise, Artemis' Guardian pistol would definitely run out of ammunition if it used ordinary bullets, at that time, in the face of the Archangel Honkai Beast, she could only close her eyes and wait for her death.

The Archangel Honkai Beast has been destroyed and Kiana was also exhausted, her current stamina and Honkai Energy had reached acritical point already and at the same time, she also suffered some minor injuries.

Even though Kiana and Mei had successfully evaded all of the Archangel's attacks, they were unable to completely dodge the incoming debris created from the Archangel's impact which resulted in their arms and legs receiving several wounds and scratches.

"Mei-senpai! You are injured!" Seeing Mei's wrist that was slightly bleeding, Kiana approached her.

"Here, let me check. If it's a minor injury… Then..."

Before Kiana could finish her sentence, Kouro suddenly appeared from the stairs to meet them.

Noticing that Kiana wanted to lick Mei's wound, Kouro swiftly intervened to stop her.

"What are you doing? I just found First Aid (A/N: Something Kouro prepared long ago) on the way here. Wounds like that can be treated with disinfectants and hemostatic drugs, so leave it to me."

"Why did you have to come right now?!" Kiana didn't feel embarrassed at all when she got caught doing something bad, but instead started accusing Kouro.

Hearing that, Kouro couldn't find any answer. If he wasn't looking for Honkai Beasts to level up, maybe he could have arrived ten minutes earlier and assist Kiana and Mei in fighting so that both of them would get hurt.

"It's okay, Kiana. Since no one is in danger, that's better." Mei interrupted Kiana.

Mei looked at Kouro and saw that there were no visible injuries on his body which made her heave a sigh of relief, but when she looked at the Nitro Crystal Greatsword on Kouro's shoulder, her eyes couldn't help but move.

This was not the first time she had seen this the light blue Greatsword.

The last time Mei saw Kouro wield this sword was when she became a Herrscher, she saw how Kouro destroyed the Honkai Beast that appeared due to the Honkai Eruption from a bystander's perspective.

Kiana had a hard time fighting them when they encountered Honkai Beasts on the road earlier, but Kouro could easily crush them even if they were bigger and stronger.

Kouro is very strong and the Greatsword that he carried is equally strong as him, this is what Mei knows.

The Nitro crystal Greatsword previously looked beautiful, clean, and flawless as if it had just been produced, but now, t has become full of dents as if it had been used for years and looks outdated.

If it weren't for the Zombies and Honkai Beasts disappearing instantly when they are killed, leaving no bloodstains, the Kouro Nitro Crystal Greatsword would have been covered in blood by this time.

During the time he was gone, what kinds of battles had he been through and what kind of foes had he faced?

Mei pursed  her lips and was speechless.

She suddenly abhors herself, for being too weak, for being a burden for Kiana when facing the Archangel, and for not being there to help when Kouro was fighting in secret.

Kiana also noticed the Nitro Crystal Greatsword on Kouro's shoulder and asked, "Where did you get this Greatsword from? It looks pretty cool, but it's a bit old."

"I took it somewhere; I will refine it later and maybe improve its appearance as well." Kouro didn't bother making excuses and Kiana didn't ask too many questions either.

"Forget it, Let's find a safe place first, I'm so tired. Now that we've got a First aid kit, Kouro quickly treat my wound, it's really painful."

Kiana excitedly took the lead and walked inside the building.

Previously, to keep the signal from being lost and so as to not lose contact with Kouro, she had stayed on the open roof of this high-rise building.

Now that Kouro was here, she no longer needed to maintain the signal and only wanted to find a room within the building to rest for a while.

Before Kouro arrived, Kiana wanted to help Mei close her wound persistently while ignoring the pain of her wounds, but now that Kouro has arrived, Kiana complained that her wound was very painful.

Does that mean Kiana always act spoiled when she is with Kouro?

Seeing Kiana leading in front of Kouro, just smiled helplessly.
