Chapter 15: Rulers of An Empire

The Imperial Palace - Royal Chambers

To say that the Imperial Palace was enormous was an understatement. Feng Cai ancestors built it to house not only the Royal Family but also all members of their clan, and all members of the two Imperial Legions, those being the Silver Tigers and The Golden Lions.

It is filled with expensive arrays powered by high grade immortal spirit stones, with the most powerful in the throne room, and a set of Divine Spirt Stone's powers it. And considering how rare those were, even in the Immortal Realm, spoke of how paranoid they were to use their scant amounts of God Qi to protect the reigning monarch.

Of course, it wasn't infallible. Assassinations of princes and even emperors have been carried out, even with all the efforts of the Emperor's Shadows to prevent it. Royal blood was spilled in these many halls. Though few succeeded in their tasks.

Still, it was a formidable bastion that was never breached, not even in the worst crisis of the Sacred Heaven Empire did the palace fall. It was simply too formidable. In fact, with a past talk he had with his father once, Feng Cai learned it would take no less than ten Celestial Immortals to destroy the palace. And considering how a Celestial Immortal is an existence that is considered being nearly supreme in the Immortal Realm, really spoke of the effort that was put into the Feng Clan's home.

But Feng Cai wasn't thinking of that currently. No, actually he was thinking on how to best convey the message to his parents to not antagonize Xue Lihua on any means. He didn't want to be sent to an early grave this soon in his next life. Even if he knew that the protagonist only starts their genocides in their teens or early adulthood.

Feng Cai sighed. He is overthinking things again. Even since he reincarnated into this Cultivation Universe as a Young Master Archetype, he had feared for his life. After all, it wouldn't even matter if he wasn't even the one that offended the protagonist. They would kill him. Like really all of those Xianxia protagonists are insane, Feng Cai can just understand killing or humiliating their chief adversary, especially if they did something despicable.

But slaughtering their entire clan? Even the children? That was madness, plain madness, really if it wasn't because at least there are reasonable protagonists that only focus on those that actually want them dead instead of killing indiscriminately he would have said that his end was approaching no matter how hard he tried to change things.

But those types are rare, and honestly, if the universe followed his will, he would never meet a protagonist. Unfortunely the Universe did not follow his will.

As he reached the golden doors of his parents' chambers, Feng Cai cleared his mind of any unnecessary thoughts. He said to a royal clerk that he wished to speak with both of his parents on an important matter, and the clerk said that he would immediately notify them. It didn't take long, mostly because his parents weren't holding court today.

Opening the doors with a sigh, Feng Cai expected many things, like his parents standing upon lofty and presumably golden chairs staring him down like he was another random courtier and not their son, in reality what he should have expected when he took the first step inside the chamber was the bone-crushing hug.

"My son, you have finally returned!" The booming voice of the Heavenly Emperor Feng Yuan while nearly breaking all of his son's bones.

Said son was trying to desperately get his father to stop showing him his 'affection'. Fortunately, he had help. The help be a beautiful white-haired and red-eyed woman. This was Feng Cai's mother Feng Xiaoli, The Heavenly Empress of The Sacred Heaven Empire and its number one female expert. "My Husband you are killing our son"

Feng Cai would have expressed profound thanks if he wasn't trying to get as many amounts of air as he could down his lungs when his Father finally let him go.

His father gave a sheepish grin, which earned him a glare from him and a sigh from his mother.

"Cai'ier, you said wanted to talk with us. What was the matter? Is someone troubling you at the Academy again?"

"Actually no, I have a message from Elder Zeng," Feng Cai said before he felt a sense of something passing over him. Must be the Spiritual Sense of his parents searching the room for anyone or anything that might be listening. Just because these were the personal quarters of the monarchs didn't mean that court politics simply disappeared, they were simply repressed.

"You can say it, there is no one listening to us," His mother said.

"Well, you see shortly after we arrived..." Feng Cai explained the history on how he and Elder Zeng came to know Xue Lihua and the discovery they made thanks to the fact that her brother had revealed that she had Sacred Level Spiritual Veins, which didn't make sense since her talent was mediocre since she seemingly had been born with Qi Deviation.

"But when Elder Zeng searched her Spiritual Veins for the signs of anything unordinary, he found a seal... belonging to a God-Kin" Feng Cai words caused the eyes of both his parents to widen at the revelation.

"One of her parents was a God-Kin?" His father asked, his tone much less jovial than before as he assumed what Feng Cai liked to privately call 'Emperor-Mode'.

"Her mother to be exact, but according to the sources of the Sect she died just after Xue Lihua was born"

His mother shakes her head. "Impossible. The bodies of the God-Kin came from the God Realm and even if they are suppressed, something as simple as childbirth couldn't kill them"

Feng Cai nodded. "That was what Elder Zeng thought as well." Feng Cai then thought something and spoke his thoughts. "Do you two think she is still here?"

Both his parents shook their heads, with his father speaking. "If she was, then your grandfather would have noticed her. Not even a God-Kin can hide for so long. To have one been living here for so many years without our knowledge..." His father shook his again. "I will have to speak with my father about this. If she returns, then he is our best bet"

His mother nodded before looking back at him. "What about the seal? Was it broken?"

"Oh yes, it was. During the process I even ended up absorbing a part of the God Qi that had been sealed," Feng Cai explained, sensing once more the Spiritual Sense of his parents, this time making them see the golden river that circulated his Spiritual Altar. It was somewhat invasive, but these were also his parents, so it was a kind of okay.

His father nodded excitedly. "Good, good, this will help you. I see that it has even fixed any flaws in your foundation! Your Immortal Path will be much easier now."

'I completely agree with you on this, Father, but it won't matter much if a protagonist somehow finds something even better,' Feng Cai thought as he nodded towards his father's proclamation. "Can I be excused?"

"Yes, my son, you can leave. Me and your father have much to discuss," His mother said, causing him to nod at them and head out of the room. The golden doors closing with a resulting thud.

As Feng Cai started walking to his quarters in the Imperial Palace, he thought that maybe he had forgotten something about the talks with his parents. But as he tried to recall what it was, he simply shrugged and continued to his quarters. It was probably nothing important. Right now, he focused on getting in his quarters and getting a little sleep. It had really overstressed him these past days. It is about time he let his mind rest a bit before coming back to the crazy world of cultivation.
