Chapter 35: 35

Amos crawled out of the ground with difficulty, and his white scales had turned red. The whole dragon was steaming hot like a crayfish just out of the pot. He was lying on the ground, spitting out a mouth full of mud while white smoke escaped out of his throat.

Bah bah bah!

Amos was so scared that he almost thought it was Game Over. Fortunately, he had a system. In a short time, Amos managed to find a way out of certain death.  When he was pressed down by skeletons, he used them to dig into the mud crazily and successfully hid several meters deep underground.

Still, the sounds and vibrations of an explosion weren’t spared, and his head was almost a  paste, almost baked by the scorching heat.

But he didn’t have direct contact with the fireball, and his scales were exceptionally good at defence.

So, despite his current embarrassing appearance, it did not sustain any substantial damage apart from the slight shock and dizziness.

The Old Shaman looked incredulously at the white dragon that had come out. Suddenly, his complexion changed, his body bent down, and the muscles that had once bulged slowly contracted, and his wrinkled skin pressed against the gradually shrinking muscles.

Damn it!

I’m running out of time!

The Old Shaman covered his chest in pain, gritted his teeth, taking advantage of Amos’s dazed moment, the skull of the cane in his hand parted from the body and flew out silently, and the skull opened its jaw to bite Amos.

Seeing the flying skull in front of his elder brother, Willy’s tail swung, struck the skull, and knocked it away.

At the moment of contact, the skull bit Willy’s tail. And is if a paper put up against a speeding blade, Willy’s hard scales and a large chunk of bloody flesh was pulled in between the teeth as the skull fell backwards.

Hearing his brother’s painful muffled groans, Amos finally came back to his senses while looking up just in time to see the Old Shaman holding the skeleton cane, turning around and running into the city.

Escape?

Impossible!

Amos overthrew his conjecture, before he could think about it, he quickly got up and chased after the old shaman. He had a hunch that the Old Shaman still had the means to turn the tables.

Willy and Elena also followed their brother to catch up, but before Willy could run far enough, he fell powerlessly on the ground.

Elena hurriedly stopped to check, only to find the wound on Willy that was bitten by the skeleton turned black, and the unidentified grey and white pattern spread like a live animal around his wounds.

“Curse?!”

Willy lay on the ground feebly, his body trembling slightly, he grit his teeth in pain and made a muffled groan.

Upon seeing this, Elena hurriedly cast a spell to help Willy to suppress the curse. Amos looked back at the painful Willy, anger ignited from the bottom of his heart, squeezing his strength, and continued to chase. Now he couldn’t wait to swallow the Old Shaman alive.

He took an enormous step forward. Soon, Amos reached near the Old Shaman. He jumped up, raised his head, and opened his mouth to bite the Old Shaman’s head.

The old shaman dodged sideways into the path between the houses, Amos used too much force, his thirteen meters long beast body collapsed several upon Ogre huts, causing a large cloud of smoke and dust to rise.

His dragon tail swayed outside the smoke and hit the Old Shaman. There was a loud noise followed by a row of houses collapsing.

Amos raised his huge head and peeped out of the dust. The Old Shaman had disappeared from his sight.

Amos flapped his wings and flew up into the sky, and the winds of his wings blew away the smoke of the collapsed house, revealing the ruins beneath.

In the sky, Amos looked down at the city below. The army was still fighting together, and a roar of death filled the air. The area next to the battlefield was ravaged by scattered magical flames. The whole city was filled with black smoke and a choking smell of scorched earth.

From the aerial view, Amos soon found the Old Shaman, but three identical shamans walked through the streets and ran in different directions of alleyways beside the houses.

“Scan!”

After several years of growth, Amos’s mental power has significantly increased, he could now cover a range of 50 meters, and when the spiritual force was released in one direction, the scanning distance went up to 150 meters, and the safety time of the Wartime Auxiliary Mode had also greatly extended.

However, after such a long battle, the safety time of the auxiliary mode had long gone overdue, and Amos’s mental power has been exhausted. He endured his exploding head, squeezing out his potential, and forcing the system to scan.

Finally, Amos found some clues. The Old Shaman was very cunning. His body added invisibility and ran in front of a clone, confirming the wisdom that the most dangerous place was the safest place.

Unfortunately, this famous saying did not work in front of him.

Amos planned to trick him, pretending as if he hadn’t found him, he flew toward the clone that was the second closest to the Old Shaman’s actual body and struck his claw and the clone disappeared.

The Old Shaman was slightly relieved in his knowledge that he had successfully deceived the dragon.

Feigning anger, Amos roared and flew up into the sky, rushing towards the clone behind the Old Shaman’s body, the air gliding across the scales, the whimper of the wind coming from his ears.

As Amos approached the clone, he suddenly accelerated across the clone and grabbed the invisible Old Shaman with a claw.

 Not good!

The Old Shaman turned and threw the skull wand in his hand. It turned into a 5- meter-high skeleton, which he carried with his arms extended toward Amos.

Amos was puzzled: Why does an old Ogre shaman have all this necromantic equipment?

He didn’t have time to think about it, with a skeleton hanging on his body, moving forward, the dragon’s claws grabbed the Old Shaman who turned around.

The Old Shaman was hit hard, he spewed a mouthful of blood and flew out, his body suddenly weakened and his appearance became more ageing.

He bumped into a house wall next to him, holding the wall with difficulty, he stood up. The dragon claw left three bloodstains on his body, slanting from his shoulder blades to his abdomen, nearly ripping the old shaman open and blood gushing from the wound frantically.

The Old Shaman’s hands tremble, he summoned a Tier-2 Wolf, he lied on the back of the giant wolf. The wolf led his master and rushed unabashedly toward the centre of the city.

Amos, who has been entangled by the skeleton, was about to give chase. The skeleton bit Amos’s neck. He quickly put his forepaws on the skull’s head. Amos couldn’t get away for a moment, he watched the wolf running farther with the Old Shaman.

With great effort, Amos finally took off the skull’s head. He crushed the head with his one foot and tore off his arms which were still holding him tightly, and flung it to the ground fiercely.

Flying through the air, he continued to chase the Old Shaman, but it was too late.

The Spirit Wolf had taken the Old Shaman to the altar at the centre of the city.

The Old Shaman placed Willy’s flesh and blood on the top of the altar platform and sat down, leaning against the cold rock of the altar, holding the skull of the Caucasus tightly with one hand, and covering the wound on his chest with the other hand, blood constantly flowing through the fingers.

The Old Shaman panted hard, his eyes without any ripples looking at the white dragon who getting closer and closer in the sky.

Amos looked down at the altar and had mixed feelings in his heart.

He had used a curse to deal with Ghoul-Garu in the morning, and later the same day, the Old Shaman was using the same method to deal with him.

Amos landed on the square in front of the altar, now things had come to this point. Instead of raging, he calmed down.

He looked at the old Shaman on the altar with the same calmness. The Old Shaman, now, had his original appearance; skinny, with sunken eye sockets, and the blood gushing out constantly from his body, if it wasn’t treated in time, he would not survive more than an hour.

“White Dragon. I call for a truce. Let’s sign a contract!”

The Old Shaman pulled out a blank sheet of paper, words were written with spells and enchants and the contract was handed to the dragon.
