Chapter 3: Chapter 3 – A new weapon and beyond the walls

Shaman halts in her steps as the sensation of leveling took her by surprise.

'Wow this feels amazing, if level ups are always this good I might want to conquer the world to hit max level.' Shaman smirked at the thought.

'lets see my stats now'

[Level: 2]

'Oh my I did not expect 5 points a level up' Shaman then proceeded to allocate points

'I should probably up my strength and agility, I want to be fast but also pack a punch and I guess I'll put one in dexterity but I'm still unsure how that attribute entirely works.'

Vitality: 10

Agility: 10 -> 12

Intelligence: 15

Strength: 8 ->10

Dexterity: 7 -> 8

Defense: 5

'Although it does not feel like I got stronger I can tell that I have certainly upgraded a bit. now let's try this inspect skill'

[Oak wood table]

[Just a table]

'I see so it works on objects but I will say that is a pretty lackluster description but I guess there really is nothing special about a table.' Shaman opens up her inventory and brings out a small Beginner box she received from the quest.

'I guess I just open it and it will just poof give me stuff? its a little small, although wasn't expecting anything grand but it just feels like I have been scammed a little but oh well here goes nothing.' Shaman opens the box and to her surprise a system menu opens up.

[Please select a reward]

[Basic sword]

[Basic Dagger]

[basic bow]

[Basic spear]

[....]

'OOOO, A weapon that will definitely save me some money,' Shaman's eyes brightened at the different options of all kinds of weapons that appeared before her.

'Hmmm, I guess I'll be like any normal basic person and choose the sword since that seems like the most versatile thing  for me at the moment' The system then opened another window with different kinds of swords.

'Oh hell yeah I can choses the type of sword, I want a katana' As the thought occurred the menus close and a katana is placed in her inventory.

'wait what? I was not serious about that answer, I didn't even get a chance to look at the options, what is this blasphemy.' Shaman gritted her teeth at the system in anger.

[That was the reward you wanted and it gave it to you, no refunds or warranty included]

"GRRR" 'this system is either really helpful or just annoying and hell I don't even know if the refund and warranty is a joke or items actually have such a thing. Curse this stupid monotone sounding system.' Shaman screams internally and decides to open her inventory to look at her katana.

[Basic Katana (tier 1)]

[a basic katana good for killing low level monsters and people]

'I don't like that last part good for killing low level people,  don't know if I'm mentally prepared for that sort of thing.' Shaman takes out the Katana and it automatically puts it to her side in a sheath

'well that's handy its like I just equipped it, lets hope if I get any armour there is a hide option because I don't think a full set of armour on a small fox girl would look cute at all.' Shaman walks over to a tablet in the auction area and starts browsing its wares.

'Well at least all the basic stuff is cheap but once we get anything uncommon and above they start getting expensive like 20 silver for just a uncommon sword while the common one is 50 copper like come on. They must be running some sort of laundering business I swear' Shaman crossed her arms and pouted and quickly decided to leave. As she left a ding could be heard.

*ding*

[Quest received]

[Main Quest: Slay 5 monsters]

[rewards]

1 level up

5 extra Attribute points

Shaman eyes lit upon seeing the rewards "YES!" Shaman yells in her excitement but attracts a few stares. She shrinks back and starts walking off to a stone wall in hopes to find a gate or a way to leave.

'Jeez I got to be more conscious of where I am. It's not like I'm in a game and the NPC just ignores you' Shaman hung her head and proceeded to the edge and spotted something that resembles an entrance. She walks up to the gate and is stopped by a guard which presents a stone in front of her.

"please put your hand on the stone to prove your identity" in a stern voice

Shaman puts her hand on the stone and a screen is shown in front of the man. The man analyzes the details then puts the stone away.

"You shall pass, have a safe trip." The guard then stepped to the side indicating to go through

"Thanks and see you later." Shaman walked through the gate and noticed a stall with a large sign saying 'Maps'. 'Well now that is convenient, seems like there is a heavy focus on adventuring but still can't help feeling like this is too good to be true.' She approaches the stall to see different types of maps.

"Hey there, what kind of map are you looking for?" The salesperson said in cheery voice

'He sounds like the perfect salesman, I swear when I kill someone I better not just see 1s and 0s because that will just make me feel even worse about my situation knowing everything I fake. If everything is fake I won't be able to find my prince charming and this wasted opportunity to start fresh will be ruined' lost in her own thoughts the salesman spoke up.

"Hey, do you need any help?"

"Oh sorry, just a little distracted, can I get a map of where low tier monster's can be found."

"Sure thing, that will be 10 copper"

Shaman reaches into her pocket to pretend she is grabbing coins and takes out 10 copper coins from her inventory and hands it to the man.

"Thank you for your patronage and happy hunting." salesman broke in to a smile and waved her off

"thanks mister and cya later." Shaman waves back and walks off analyzing the map noticing it pinpoints her current location.

'Why can't I shake off that suspicious feeling that everything is just to easy, like the world knows what I need and where to go. I better stay on guard and get this quest done quickly, hopefully I can just kill some slimes or something.' Shaman starts heading towards a forest in the distance and putting the map in her inventory.

Shaman enters the forest as indicated by the map to hunt low tier beats but was not specified what type and could only hope it is something that is harmless and just good for materials. As she was walking along the trail a rustle could be heard then followed by 3 shadows jumping in front.

'Oh of course my first beast is wolves but like SERIOUSLY 3 at the same time, I guess all that convenience I was getting has caught up to me and now I'm being put through a trial.' Shaman steps back and draws her katana while her heart rate starts to rise.

'Wow this feels surprisingly good is this what they mean by the weight of the sword, because this feels perfect.' The wolves start to growl and the wolf in front decides to pounce.

"Now is the time of my many years of Kendo to shine." Shaman dashes forward and slashes at the approaching wolf with ease, Shaman trying to act cool whips the blood off and sheaths her sword. Killing the wolf instantly by slitting its neck and she could not hold her excitement.

[wild wolf killed]

[exp +5]

[drops: wolf core (1st tier)]

[items have been placed in inventory]

"That felt so COOL!!! I thought I would not have the resolve to kill an animal but that felt amazing to do, Now who's next." Shaman gets ready to face the other wolves. Her new found confidence has made all her worry in her heart go away and is now filled with excitement.

Shaman takes the initiative at the 2 frightened wolves and dashes forward.

She stabs the first wolf in the back of the neck killing it, the other wolf starts to bolt for the bush. Shaman pulls the blade and chases the wolf, after chasing it through the bushes for a minute, catches up to the wolf and stabs down through the body piercing the heart, getting another monster killed.

[Monster kills 3/5]

'That felt good although I do feel bad for the defenseless wolves but I can only assume this happens on a daily basis and should not be caught up in whether it's right or wrong, plus they attacked me first so it was just exaggerated self defense.' Shaman relaxes and puts her weapon away and sits down by a tree.

After a few minutes rest and let the adrenaline calm down she gets up from her spot but then more rustling could be heard ahead and then a collective growl could be heard.

'Oh no, please don't tell me that wolf led me back to its pack' cold sweat starts to fall as now she has to fight back a pack of wolves.
