Chapter 33: 33 Brigit Become the MC

Brigit POV

I trudge away when Hedone tells me to, but I can’t leave her to fight by herself. She’s stronger than me, but I’m sure I can help. I hide on the stairs and watch the battle from the doorway.

Hedone is so heroic! I loved to watch her run. She always stands out from the crowd. Even though she usually lost, I couldn’t take my eyes off her. I’ve never been as bold as her.

The fight looks good at first, and I silently cheer as Hedone takes out the first combatant. From there, things slowly go downhill. I squeeze my fist as she takes a blow to her back. What can I do? If I go out, I’ll only distract Hedone.

As I’m worrying, a slime is flung into the wall. Something flies across the room, but no one seems to notice. It twirls and pata bams in front of the entrance. It slides for a bit and settles on the floor in front of me. A branch? It looks pretty heavy and strong.

I look up and see Hedone smashing her head into her problem. I rub my forehead in shared pain. As I relish another victory, I suck in my breath as the last enemy sneaks up behind Hedone. “Watch out, Hedone!” I squeak out, but it’s barely audible.

SQUIRCH! I cover my ears. The sound of Hedone being stabbed is too loud. I stumble and fall to the ground. I can’t breathe. My hand falls on the branch, and I grab it. I move without breathing or thinking, and then I’m behind the woman who killed my sister.

I swing with all my might. THUD. The woman grabs the branch! I look at her in shock while her face is covered with rage. No Hedone, what do I do!

Bzt. Blue uses a stun gun on the warrior's neck. She swats at Blue, but Blue drops the stung gun and flies away. To my shock, not even this stops the woman as I hear her grind her teeth. She raises her arm up to kill me, and I can only look on. I’m not like Hedone. I really can’t do anything.

Blue screeches, “slimes!” The five slimes pile onto the adventurer. They hold her with all their might. I grab the branch and swing it at the woman's head. Blood spurts out of her head, but the adventurer still glares at me and forces her sword arm toward me.

“Snryiuolovurios,” I hear whispering words overlapping each other. I stumble back as the sword comes toward me. The blade falls towards me, and I raise my arms.

Clatter. I look to my right and see the weapon next to me. I look up in shock as Blue flies over. “Are you alright? Mom would be mad if you got hurt.”

“I’m fine. What happened?” I question in shock.

“She was so battered that I was able to put her to sleep. It was a close call,” Blue says while wiping her brow.

Then I jump. “Hedone!” I exclaim as I crawl to my sister. Blood is flowing onto the ground. “What can I do. What can I do?” I panic.

Blue bops my check with a bottle, making me jump. “Right!” I grab the bottle and pour it out on the wound. I expect it to close up like in the movies, but nothing happens. I frown.

“Auntie, it only has weak healing. We need help,” Blue explains.

I nod. We need to slow the bleeding! I look around and see Hedone’s shirt on the ground. I grab it and cut it with the sword. I tie it around the wound. “We need to get her to a hospital,” I mumble. I try to lift Hedone, but I’m too weak. I’m sure she would have powered through. Sorry, sis.

“The slimes will carry her,” Blue says, gesturing. “Two slimes go with, and the rest hold them down. I’ll keep casting sleep on them.”

I run with all my might, the slimes behind me. I keep watching my phone until a tick shows up. 911! “What’s the emergency,” a man asks calmly. How can you be calm at a time like this idiot!

“My sister’s been stabbed, help!” I scream.

“I understand that your sister is hurt. What is your location,” he asks with a sympathetic tone.

“I’m taking her to the house. It’s at 89940 line way drive. Please hurry!” I shout. He confirms the location as I keep running.

“Help is on the way. What is the situation? How did your sister get stabbed? Are you in danger?”

“No, I’m fine. It was a sword she’s stabbed all the way through and bruised. She’s bleeding a lot. Please save her.”

“I understand. Please remain calm. What is your name, and what is your sister’s name?”

“My name is Brigit. Hedone is my sister’s name.”

How did she get hurt by the sword?”

“I don’t know! I’m at the house now. Where are you!” I scream at them.

“A helicopter has just been dispatched. They should be there in ten minutes. The local sheriff is a few minutes out.”

“Alright,” I huff as I fling open the door.

“Mom Hedone, she’s dying!” I cry as I enter the door.

Mom scrambles to the door and sweeps us with her eyes. She sees the phone. “Did you call 911 already?”

I nod “yes.”

“Alright,” Mom takes the phone from me.

“Hello, sir. Yes, they just came into the house. They were out in the forest. She has a stab wound through her gut area and is bleeding. It looks like her shirt is wrapped around the wound location. Yes, I’ll put pressure on the wound.”

I can’t handle this. I run into the bathroom and throw up. I stumble out of the bathroom and see mom letting Hedone’s sword sit in the blood. She quickly mutes the phone and says, “Push the slimes out of here. I’ll take care of this.”

I nod, force the slimes into my work room, and collapse in my chair.
