Chapter 5: 5

“Kyaaaaaaaaaa”

Hannah screamed. Four slimy objects, crawled out of the alchemy pot. Exactly what I’d hoped would happen, this is what’s called or for short.

Ignoring Hannah, I swiped my sword through the slimes. Bunched up like they were a single swing was enough to defeat all four of them. After which all that was left was the drop items, two slime Jelly and two .

“H-huh?”

“Its over.”

Hannah was dumbfounded by the speed in which the slimes were taken care of. The slimes were there and then in the blink of an eye….no a single scream, honestly get it together woman, they were gone. However this is no time to just be standing around Hannah, we’ve only just begun. Doing this is a great way to jump start your finances. She let out a squeeze as I advanced in her with two more slime jelly and muddy water.

“Now, time for a money making marathon.”

Hannah looked as if I’d just condemned her to hell.

“I feel sorry for the slimes.”

“What, they’re monsters. In fact they’re probably happy that we’re making use of them and their resources.”

“I-i see.”

The marathon came to an end late at night when Hannah’s parents came home. The final results were 721 slime jelly and 1439 . Once sold this will be a healthy reserve if money for when I leave the academy.

Since for every slime jelly 4 more slimes are born and their movement is sloppy, you can easily wipe them all out at one time and gather resources. This is something I did in the early days of the game.

Unfortunately your level can’t increase without a job. Not that the slimes give a decent amount of experience anyway, but it means all this is good for is the drop items. In the end Hannah and I both got bored and started playing whackamole with the lines on the table.

“Oh yeah, can I sell the slime jelly here?”

“Uhm…..there’s no way we would need that much… also I sort of know how to make it really easily now so…”

“Oh?”

“Not that I was thinking of producing it by myself or anything! Honest!”

“Its fine, I can get better stuff than just slime jelly in a dungeon anyway. ”

“Really!?”

Go for it… Actually I think it’s strange that she seems so happy about being able to produce this. Anyway if I she can’t buy it, I’ll just have to sell it at the school. While thinking that, my stomach let out a loud growl.

“……”

There’s food items in this world so of course I would get hungry. Although in the game there was no status related to it so I totally forgot about it. Now, what should I eat?

“Zephyrus, if you’re hungry, did you want to eat dinner first before leaving.”

“!!”

A dinner invitation…. Is there actual meals here, not just food items!? Since it was a game world this realization took me by surprise almost more than the tea did and I hurriedly agreed to have dinner at Hannah’s house.

I sat stunned for a while after dinner.

“That was delicious.”

“Hehe, good. I worked hard on it.”

Hannah seemed a little shy at me declaration but honestly I’m just shocked that someone who looks like they’re still in middle school can cook. She headed into the kitchen with the dishes. By the way, Hannah’s mom was helping her wash dishes and her dad went to the store. I found it interesting as the game didn’t have these small everyday events in it.

“Oh right, the cost of living is probably going to be a thing now as well.”

Of course there was no such thing as cost of living in the game. Although there was a small fee to rest at an inn. But it makes sense now why Hannah was happy about learning to make slime jelly. Although they aren’t expensive if you have enough you won’t have to worry about where your next meal will come from.

“Wait, what am I going to do about transportation to the academy and meals tomorrow?”

Since it’s different from the game I came to realize that I may need money for that kind of thing. I started to sweat as it occurred to me that I may also have to pay tuition.

“I’ll talk to Hannah about it, she might have some good advice. I’ll ask the village chief afterwards as well.”

Fortunately before returning home the village chief informed me that all of it would be paid by the government and I was able to relax.
