Pov- John
"Are you sure you are not gonna kill me?"
"Yes... I think?"
"I think I'm going to die."
I am right now at a training ground and am facing off against Hela.
The reason why we are fighting right now is that Hela was seem unsatisfied with her opponent so she tried to spar with me... And it worked.
And now I have to face the consequences.
The rules are simple.
This was all of the rules.
I don't know if I can still defeat her because I was only relying on my mode 3 in our last fight.
The ability she has revealed was only a portion so if she does something new here then I'm probably doomed. I can also only use mode 3 up to 4 times without me being exhausted.
I am a bit reluctant to use mode 4 because of its backlash. Mode 5 is out of the question. It's still in the experimental stage.
"I'm going to set the timer here," I said a bit nervous. "After 10 seconds, this thing will ring and the fight will officially start."
We then went to our positions as the timer starts.
[10 seconds left]
I entered my magazine.
[9 seconds left]
I then made sure that there were no malfunctions on this device.
[8 seconds left]
[7 seconds left]
I then started at her as I aimed the gun making use of everything in place.
[6 seconds left]
...
[3 seconds left]
My finger was ready.
[2 seconds left]
[1 second left]
[MODE 1]
Time slowed down.
[Zero]
I fired.
It was a slow bullet in my perspective. I don't know if it's the brightest idea but my beginning plan is to use mode 1 immediately while attacking her with a barrage of bullets before I reload my bullets. This was the only plan that I have thought of in those span of minutes.
She blocked almost everything though. Although time was slow in my perspective she is still kinda moving normally, that's just how fast she was. Kinda scary not gonna lie.
[MODE 2]
Some bullets passed through her defences which were my initial plan all along.
Those bullets were infused by mode 2 which basically makes my presence go dull. Mode 2 is also the only mode of mine that can be infused into other objects.
The bullet hits Hela's arm, leg, abdomen, liver and neck. My win condition is to hit 3 of her vital spots and I only hit 2 because she may have noticed the others in the last seconds.
Mode 1 has also expired meaning that I have to fight her right now. Shit.
She rushed over me at high speeds in a blink of an eye as she thrust her sword forward.
I blocked it with a pocket knife. She didn't stop and still attacked me with a barrage of thrusts while I was in a defensive position.
[MODE 1]
I activated mode 1 again. Pain surged throughout my body but it was only a little bit and does not matter anyways.
Time slowed down again as I saw her hair start to change colours to red slowly but surely.
It seemed that she is planning to continue this in her fire-like form so I went into her defences and attacked her with a knife on the vital spots.
She noticed this so she backed off a bit while staying within her sword's range. If she continues to do this then I may not have any chance of winning.
We then exchanged blows upon blows, parry upon parry, and attacks upon attacks. I would always block her sword strike while she always dodges my bullets. It looked like a stalemate but one thing changed the whole course of the match in an instant.
I'm out of bullets.
You are reading story The hero that was sent to another world (rewrite i guess?) at novel35.com
Hela realised this fact for a split second made her move more aggressively and more deadly. She was a bit passive before but seeing me not having any bullets made her advantage skyrocket.
There was also nothing left for me but to play defensively until I get pushed down to the 100 meters mark.
At this rate, losing will be the only conclusion I will get. Gotta think of something. Maybe this will work.
[MODE 1]
With desperation, I threw the knife at her face at full power hoping to buy some time.
She had a surprised expression for a split second but returned to her normal stoic one as she blocks the knife attack head-on with the hilt of her sword.
The knife did its job though.
Eat this.
I finished reloading my gun in that split second. I attacked her with an enhanced bullet with a speed far greater than a normal one.
This may be my last bet. If this still does not work then I'm probably doomed.
"Flame waltz: flame shield"
She muttered something. No, she clearly chanted something. Hela said to me once on our way here that she needed a chant to activate her spells. It was an unwanted conversation but I guess it prove useful.
She began to transform amid the battle conjuring flames that covered her body burning the bullet into crisp.
"Flame waltz: dance of the flaming God"
She rushed through me at an unbelievable speed that can be compared to the attack she did on the enemies last time. Only this time, it's aimed at me.
Oh shit, I'm done.
[MODE 1]
This was my last mode. After I use this my body will not hold anymore and will likely collapse from exhaustion. There is also nothing left for me to do except dodge it.
Sigh, let's just delay the inevitable then.
She thrusts her sword but I stepped back. She attacked me again but I stepped back. Her speed became faster and her flames became wilder as she attacked me again but I just stepped back.
I tightened my perception in case she makes a drastic move.
All of my movements were precise and minimal as I desperately run for my life. Yes, it's very tiring per se.
She swings wildly while I stepped back almost stumbling myself but whatever she did, I always dodged it.
That was until mode 1 expired.
Time resumed to a fast one and my reaction speed faltered.
She grazed me making it one hit, the swing was so fast that I didn't even have time to react to it.
I ran backwards as much as possible with this burdened body but she grazed me again making it two hits. One more hit then it's game over for me.
As my last resort, I threw my gun at her face and will try to explode on spot.
the gun slowly moved toward Hela while she just parried it with the hilt. It exploded on impact though making sure that I did all my win conditions.
I... Won? With such an anti-climatic ending I won?
"You... Stepped into the line," she said through the smoke which made me feel goosebumps immediately. Damn, that was badass. Wait, what did she just say?
I looked below me and saw my shoes outside the line which was technically my loss.
"I almost beat you though," I said as I tried to get up but failed to do so because of the toll of mode 1.
"Not... Even close," she said stoically but defensively. I'm not gonna back down though.
"I didn't even use my mode 3 you know?"
"I... Only used one element."
"My bullets were rubber."
"I... Didn't release my sword."
"You used it though."
"No... I didn't."
"Yes, you do."
"No... I didn't."
"Yes, you do."
"No... I didn't."
Those were the conversation we had as I rest my body somewhere in the training room. Never expected her to be talkative around sparring though.
