Chapter 18: Chapter 17: Evil Eye & Event Info

And clear~. Hmm-hmm-hmm~. A simple puzzle like that is no enemy for me~.

Okay, it was sorta difficult. But I've cleared it! I didn't play all those puzzle games before for nothing!

While I was celebrating, the magic book started to burn, and the ashes rose into the air and created a list. This is..., Evil Eyes!

Okay, that's a lot. And here I thought I would be getting a random Eye without the choice of choosing it myself.

Ehm, what should I take... All this stuff consumes MP, which is my lifeline despite not being a Mage. Gotta be careful when choosing one.

Starting by eliminating what I don't need should be the best..., which in that case, I can exclude [Analyzing Evil Eye], [Binding Evil Eye], and [Magic Evil Eye]. I have skills that do around the same thing as them in the form of [Identification], [Create Trap], and [Mystical Thread].

[Dark Evil Eye] must be the skill the creature in the Dark Cave used. It dealt lots of damage to me despite my high RES and natural resistance towards the Darkness attribute. Even then, there's nothing that says that skill was at Lv.1. It could have been maxed out for all I know, so it's rejected for now. At least until I find a way to improve my sight.

My "attack range" with an Evil Eye is the same as my range of sight, meaning 5 meters. Have to take that into account. Meaning the Evil Eye should act as an emergency skill for the moment. Scary and Pain may bring opposite results in such a situation, so they're out. A cornered rat and all that, and Pain may not be that strong either.

That leaves me with the Evil Eyes of Blind, Sleepy, and Weakness. Sleepy may overlap with [Sleep Demon's Touch], but the difference is that I don't need to touch the target, which is a big plus. Blind would be useful for a distraction, else, Weakness would be the best option...

Okay, I've decided.

My main element is darkness, so stuff like smokescreens and distracting the target may come up again. And weakening people just by glaring at them sound so cool!

And what's this title about? I guess that it's something everyone gets along with their first Evil Eye skill...

I WAS DAMN WRONG! What's this, it's awesome! All these extra stats, AND bonus to Evil Eye-type skills?!

That's it. I'm getting more of those eyeballs.

BWA-HAHAHAHAHA!! Nothing can stop me now!

Later, in the real world:

*Siiigh*...

I silently ate my pizza as I looked at my character's skills from the pc-screen.

Those stupid potions. Why did they have to increase a random skill? And they didn't hit a single offensive-related skill! Not that I have that many, but still...

I close the game window and started to browse on the official site in an attempt to change my mood. And then I noticed something. An official notification from the management.

THE FIRST EVENT IS CONFIRMED! [Nightmare Carnival]!

You are reading story Nightmare Fantasy Online at novel35.com

Carnival? Are we gonna dress up?

[Nightmare Carnival] event details:

Oh? This is like a real carnival. Lots of stuff to do, even if you aren't a combat player.

There's even info on the Skill-Up Potion. Seems like this one can increase the level of a specific skill, but only tier-1 skills. Even the management isn't expecting people to have upped their skills past that. And the potions are non-tradable items. Probably a measurement to prevent people from over-leveling characters by using multiple accounts to get more potions.

The duration of the event is 5 days, and it starts within two weeks. Maybe I should participate. Just the potion is enough of a reason to take a peek, but...

Yeah, let's try to clear the Dungeon first. If it turns out to be impossible, I'll wait until the event starts and try to increase my battle potential there.

But for now, good night.

Good morning, and log in.

The first thing I did was to take another look at the vacuum cleaner. The one I used yesterday to suck up all the "glitches", but something's making me wonder. What happens to the glitches? Are they stored in some dust bag, or better, a "glitch bag"? Maybe I can use that as some bomb?

After a while, I found out how to open the vacuum cleaner. But there's something far more "developed" here than a simple dust bag.

The [Identification] result tells me it's an "Outer Energy Battery". Then should I plug it into some device?

I exited my Player Room and started to look for something to use the battery on. And I found something right away!

In the security room that my Player Room was connected to, a "thread" of light came out from the battery and went toward the broken monitors that should be for the fifth floor. After the thread of light connected to the monitors, they started to repair themselves right in front of my eyes! Cool!

After the monitors were fixed, several screens started to show what I believe to be the 5th floor. No Vile Queens in sight though. But some of the monitors instead showed a recording, or maybe I should call it a "report"?

It seems to be telling about the "Outer Energy" project, or, its later stages. Hmm..., you need [Linguistics] to understand most of this stuff, glad its level went up..., summarized, I can say the story's like this:

*Beep!*

A sharp sound interrupted my reasoning at the same time as the monitors telling me about the "Outer Energy" project went black. Does that mean...

YES! It worked! And hey! Who would challenge the Queen just like that!? That's a one-way ticket to character deletion!

Okay, I've got a plan now. Take this now-empty battery back into the vacuum cleaner and suck up as much glitch as..., the battery's fried!? Crap, is it a one-time use?

Th-th-there should be spare batteries somewhere else in the Dungeon! Like on the 5th floor! I hope...
