Chapter 344: Time Waits For No Man

Edited by Aelryinth

That demonic flower was enough to leave him terrified. Where did this huge golden dragon suddenly appear from?

Zhang Che felt like his brain was overwhelmed.

The only thing he could be sure of was that the huge golden dragon was obviously here for that woman who was taken over by the demonic flower.

In that case, there was another question. -Why didn’t a similar powerful creature appear when I walked out of the demonic flower?-

-Could it be because of me reverse-killing the demonic flower’s soul, leaving those powerful creatures unable to sense it? Perhaps that was the reason why?-

Zhang Che shook his head, no longer thinking about it. In any case, those things were too far out of his reach for now. It was useless to think about it, only making him feel more troubled.

He mounted the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon and directly changed his direction, heading deeper into the beast world once more.

The reappearance of the demonic flower made Zhang Che feel like a huge threat was approaching.

Although he didn’t understand what exactly this signified, but he knew that it wouldn’t be anything good.

How could something that even left such extremely powerful creatures feeling troubled be a good sign?

Zhang Che could even vaguely sense that the once-a-decade beast swarm might not be the greatest threat for humanity. The mysterious energy behind the demonic flower might be it.

After all, although the beast swarm had seemingly forced humanity into extremely difficult circumstances, there weren’t any signs of humanity going extinct. Instead, a mysterious force seemed to be urging the humans on Mercury to develop in the direction of beastmasters.

In the last few decades, humanity had inevitably been developing in another direction. Although there were many breakthroughs in the advancement of technology as well, the difference was like heaven and earth when compared to the progress in the areas related to beastmasters.

A fully equipped high-tier beastmaster wasn’t someone scientific weapons could easily destroy. It was only possible to kill a powerful high-tier beastmaster if nuclear weapons were used.

Even so, was a high-tier beastmaster the endgame of development?

Based on the divine bird and the huge golden dragon Zhang Che saw, perhaps even nuclear weapons wouldn’t be much of a threat of them!

So, what if beastmasters could own subdued beasts of such a level in the future? How effective would scientific weapons be then?

Countless thoughts went through his mind. Zhang Che suddenly felt how tight on time he actually was.

There was still a long way to go for him to become a high-tier beastmaster!

However, no one knew if the mysterious force behind the demonic flower would suddenly erupt one day, sweeping through all of the beast worlds, or even appear on Mercury?

“How great it would be if I transmigrated a decade or two earlier!” Zhang Che couldn’t help but lament, feeling a sense of how time waited for no man.

If he had transmigrated even ten years earlier, he would have become a high-tier beastmaster by now, not to mention being an expert among them.

Alas, this was only his wishful thinking.

Going forward, Zhang Che could only try his best to become stronger, to ensure his self-preservation during the possible huge changes in the future, and to have the strength to protect his close ones.

The first step to become stronger was naturally to go hunt that giant stone man.

If he had an epic-quality subdued beast, Zhang Che’s overall strength would experience a qualitative change. He would have the strength to fight if he encountered those powerful exotic beasts in the future, or perhaps even slay them, obtaining even greater fighting strength.

-A pity it will be heaven-knows-when for the Umbra Wind God Leopard to truly mature, and I won’t have to come to Bei Mei region so pathetically to hunt a mid-tier epic-quality exotic beast. I feel guilty for always stealing from others!-

Although that was what he thought, the smile on Zhang Che’s face thoroughly betrayed him. This rascal was close to being addicted to stealing precious resources from foreign lands. What bullshit guilt was he talking about…

For the rest of the day, Zhang Che didn’t cover much ground.

After all, as he went deeper into the beast world, there might be some exotic beasts so strong that he couldn’t afford to offend them nearby. For the sake of his safety, he had the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon slow down greatly, and flew at a much lower altitude. He was afraid of drawing the lord-class flying beasts’ attention.

Therefore, distance or whatnot wasn’t a problem at all. The only thing that hindered Zhang Che was the fact that he wasn’t strong enough.

If his babies were as strong as the golden lightning divine bird or that huge golden dragon from earlier, what did he have to fear? He could directly travel at his fastest speed! See if which exotic beast was so dumb as to dare block his way?

“Indeed, becoming a true expert is a long but important road!”

Seeing the sky gradually turning dark, Zhang Che had the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon stop and found a mountain with sparse vegetation to land on. After a simple dinner, he had the Purple Crystal Tortoise dig a cave in the side of the mountain.

Deep in the beast world, there was nowhere safer than being in the body of a mountain. After all, exotic beasts that could travel through the earth were very rare.

Even if there were, they might not know Zhang Che was inside which mountain for sure and come attack him, right? If he really came across such a situation, Zhang Che could only blame it on his bad luck.

Since it was still early, and with how crazy his day went, how could Zhang Che be sleepy already? He decided to bring out the spiritual jade he dug out earlier and place it in front of him, studying it carefully. He was hoping to calm himself by seemingly counting his fortune. Otherwise, he would have a nightmare tonight.

After looking at it for some time, Zhang Che had yet to calm down when he suddenly had the idea to have the Purple Crystal Tortoise bring the large, ice sculpture-like snow lotus flower out.

Holding the refreshing-smelling spiritual flower, Zhang Che connected the flower with the spiritual jade where the stem was cut, thinking how great it would be if the spiritual flower could absorb the jade’s energy. The difference between a mature and an immature spiritual flower at such a grade was truly too great.

Originally, Zhang Che was only giving it a try on a sudden impulse. Unexpectedly, when the snow lotus’ severed stem came into contact with the spiritual jade, an obvious fluctuation of energy quickly flowed out from the spiritual jade. Afterwards, tiny strands of fiber actually grew out from the stem at a speed visible to the naked eye!

“Oh shit, it actually works this way too!” Zhang Che’s jaw nearly fell to the ground. He didn’t dare believe what his eyes were seeing.

Afterwards, Zhang Che stood at the spiritual jade’s side, carrying the refreshing snow lotus. He watched as the strands of fiber slowly grow stronger and thicker where they were connected to the spiritual jade to.

In the end, after an indeterminate amount of time, Zhang Che felt sore in his arms, even with his strong physique. The new roots below the stem had grown as thick as ordinary threads, their length about a foot long, tightly adhered to the surface of the spiritual jade.

The petals that had originally started turning dimmer were now rejuvenated, emitting hints of glossy sparkles.

Zhang Che was overjoyed. A ray of light shot out from between his brows. The frisky monkey was summoned.

“Zhizhi, zhizhi!”

Just as the frisky monkey cried out twice excitedly, his ugly face immediately scrunched together, seemingly on the verge of tears.

“Come, help daddy hold up this flower. Don’t let it move. Now, let me go sleep first.”

Once again, Zhang Che had oppressed the hardworking frisky monkey shamelessly. He walked off to the side and brought out his sleeping bag, found his way into it and closed his eyes, gradually falling asleep.

Regrettably, Zhang Che didn’t have any nightmares that night about the demonic flower or the huge golden dragon.
