Chapter 2: Reading is the Best Part 1

Menma reached his room and quickly shouted.

"Mom, what's for dinner?"

"Your father brought pork bean soup. We are going to have it with some rice. Oh! What's that?" Yuki smiled and answered while heating the food.

"My boy has finally returned huh? Where were you? Your friends came here searching for you." A man sitting on a couch spoke. He had quite a muscular body with brown skin and black hair.

He looked average. But, he was wearing good clothes. It was thanks to the business he ran.

"Dad, Mom, I have something that I wanted to say to you." Menma decided to confess something as he showed his scroll. Yuki walked out of the kitchen and looked at him strangely.

"Mom, Dad, I have decided to become the best shinobi." Menma clenched his fists and confessed. He didn't want them to feel weird about his obsession with jutsu and training out of nowhere.

So, instead of making them feel weird, he decided to confess directly.

His mom and dad looked at each other with shock on their faces. But, quickly, they smiled and nodded their heads.

"Alright then, I believe my son will become the best shinobi." Yuki patted his head and walked inside his kitchen. Seeing her normal reaction, Menma felt a bit frustrated.

Seeing this, his father laughed.

"Hahaha! Did you expect us to have a great reaction? Well, it was true that we were surprised but kids of your age normally have that kind of thought. So, I don't think there is anything wrong with that."

"Best of luck with your training. If you need any support, then tell me. I might not be a shinobi but I won't hesitate to spend for my son."

Hearing his words, Menma felt a warm feeling in his heart. He smiled and soon his mother served them food. After eating, he went to his room and opened the scroll.

[Chakra and How to Train it]

Menma spent almost four more hours completing this scroll. From it, he found that the knowledge he had from watching Anime and the knowledge of the scrolls didn't seem to have much difference.

Chakra is formed by merging Physical Energy with Spiritual Energy but there is a limit to how much one can produce. Such as one can't have the Chakra level of Naruto if he isn't an Uzumaki.

But if you train hard enough, you can still have a lot of Chakra enough to become a Kage. Though mostly, it has been stated that only with talent can reach such strength, it is also possible with training, harsh training.

Menma was very aware of Guy's existence. This man was someone who brought life to Taijutsu. He was the man that Madara declared the Strongest Taijutsu User.

And, if Naruto didn't have the Nine-Tails powers, then he wouldn't be as strong as Guy with his Eighth Gate or maybe even his Sixth or Seventh Gate. After all, with the seventh gate alone, he mangled to defeat Kisame, the Tailless Tailed Beast.

Knowing this, Menma was very secure to train in his Taijutsu. Of course, he still has the advantage of Taijutsu. Because Wasabi had shown her the style that very much resembles the Four Legs Technique of Inuzuka in Chunin Exams during Boruto that proved she was quite strong in Taijutsu.

Not to mention, Izuno had their Cat Covering Technique that allowed them to use the Cat Cloak which boosts their speed and strength, mostly speed.

Menma knew his talent wouldn't be as high as most of the Konoha 12 but he knew if he trains enough, he can surpass most of them. Menma was so excited about this that he forgot to sleep and focused on meditation.

He made a rule in his mind. Day for Physical Training and Night for Meditation. He wanted to know how many hours he would need to sleep so that he can use his time effectively.

He only managed to stay awake till 1. Finally, he fell asleep and woke up a bit late. He quickly ran out of his room and shouted "Mom, is breakfast ready?"

"Yes!" Yuki answered as she put the plate on the table. There were two buns on the table.

Menma quickly wore some clothes, grabbed some money, and grabbed his food.

"Goodbye, mom! I might be a bit late tonight." He stuffed it in his mouth after saying goodbye to his mother. He quickly rushed out of the house and ran toward the academy.

When he reached his class, he panted for a while. He had barely finished eating and he had to run to the academy. Fortunately, Iruka Sensei hadn't entered the class.

He walked to his bench and sat down.

"Okinawa, Murasaki, good morning!"

He greeted his friends as he took out a textbook.

"Where were you yesterday? We couldn't find you at all." Okinawa asked with confusion.

"I went to the library. Do you want to tag along?" Menma asked.

You are reading story The Best Shinobi at novel35.com

"What? Library? Why would you go to such a boring place?" Murasaki asked.

Menma rolled his eyes and said "Of course, it is to learn more. Don't tell me you want to remain as a cannon fodder ninja."

"Hell no! I am going to become a strong ninja and help my family." Murasaki instantly shook his head and answered.

"Then, you should also go to the library and learn more." Menma encouraged his friend.

"But, what would you learn from the library? Shouldn't you train more? Aren't you just telling them to waste time?" Suddenly, a boy from the nearby desk spoke.

Menma turned his head and said "What if you one day fight against an enemy with Lightning Release? Or Wind Release? Or Genjutsu? What if you have to infiltrate the enemy base which had dozens of traps?"

"What if you have to become a spy in another land? Would you be able to do it without knowing who they are? Our academy does teach us a lot of things but these are just the basic things."

"In the future, you might face a complicated situation that you won't be able to solve. That is where you would need knowledge. At least, that's what an old geezer told me yesterday morning."

Originally, everyone looked at Menma with surprise but when they heard he was telling this after hearing from someone else. The boy who previously raised the question snorted with a response.

"Humph! So, you are telling me to believe someone we don't even know. I won't waste my time reading."

Creek!

"Menma is correct, Hao. If you don't know the enemy, you won't live longer as a shinobi." Iruka entered the room and immediately corrected that boy.

He looked at Menma and said "No wonder, you looked so tired yesterday. You must be thinking about what that person told you. He was correct. You must increase your knowledge to become a better shinobi. Looks like, you made the right decision."

"Thank you, Iruka Sensei." Menma smiled and nodded his head.

Sasuke who wasn't very much interested in the class looked at Menma and thought 'Humph! Reading is for weak people. If I can simply train to become stronger, why would I waste my time?'

'I have to hurry up and train more. I can't waste my time on the useless thing. I must become strong enough to kill that man.'

His eyes were very bloodthirsty. His clan was just massacred a few months ago. The hatred in his heart won't disappear but it will slowly be suppressed until Itachi and Orochimaru interfere in his life.

A pink-haired girl also stared at him and thought 'I am already the best when it comes to knowledge. Do I really need to go to the library to learn more?'

Everyone else had different thoughts in their minds. At this moment, Iruka clapped his hands and said.

"Alright! We will have Taijutsu Practice today. Let's go to the training ground."

Saying so, Iruka left and other students excitedly followed him. Only one guy was lazily walking out. He was none other than Shikamaru. He rubbed the back of his head before going outside and muttered.

"What a drag"

But, he had no choice but leave. Menma was already ahead of him. He knew he wasn't very strong but he wanted to see just how weak he was.

Everyone reached the training ground and Iruka sensei spoke.

"Alright, everyone! We will have a one-on-one battle. Remember, this is a Taijutsu battle so you aren't allowed to use Ninjutsu. You are allowed to use weapons but no vital injuries are allowed."

"If you can't fight, then admit defeat. Alright, we will start the first battle with 'Sasuke Uchiha versus Kiba Inuzuka."

When those two were called, a boy with a grey fur coat and a boy with a black t-shirt walked in front of each other.

The battle lasted one minute with Sasuke Uchiha coming out on top.

The next battle was surprisingly between.

Menma Izuno Versus Hao
