Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Soul Weapon

Dyne knew that the Mist Generators in Drake and Sebucus Islands used Ra-Serus to create the Mist. And knowing that, Meta realized that they would be forced to kill their kin.

“It seems that Lord Tieg has bestowed upon you a great burden, Lord Dyne.”

“Ermmm… Can we stop with the Lord thing? I’m just as human as Vahn is.”

“Human? How can you be human? Your control over the Soul is far more astonishing compared to Biron.”

“It’s a long story. Vahn. I hope this doesn’t change anything.” Dyne called Vahn.

“It changes a lot!” Vahn answered.

“I have to call you, Lord Dyne?” Vahn jokingly asked.

“Vahn told a joke?!” Dyne was shocked.

“It is not an issue, Master Dyne. I mean, Lord Dyne.” Vahn smirked.

“You’ve saved this village. How can you be some bad guy?” Vahn laughed.

“Meta was suspicious about you because you knew about her from the moment you entered Rim Elm. So she showed me memories of Rogue and his Rebellion. He thought that Rogue managed to corrupt you.”

“I get it.” Dyne nodded as he recalled several powerful foes in Legend of Legaia.

“There are people here that have been corrupted by Rogue, just as Meta explained. And that’s why I asked the villagers to keep things low profile. Anyways, Meta, now that you’ve awakened, I will need your help. There are quite a few things we need to do quickly.”

“Awaken the Genesis Trees! I believe that if we gathered the villagers, I can-“

“No. Let’s not awaken the Genesis Tree just yet.” Dyne shook his head.

“If we do that, it will make the enemy know that we are here. Trust me. Tieg predicted that in three years’ time, the enemy would attack Rim Elm and try to destroy it. The best time to awaken the Genesis Tree would be then. If we awakened the Tree now, it would make the enemies marshal a force that we cannot handle.”

“… You are right. I obey Lord Tieg’s will.”

“Right. The best thing to do is wait for them to attack Rim Elm, and then we awaken the Genesis Tree.”

“I understand now! They will marshal an army to attack Rim Elm. If we awaken the Genesis Tree then, it will kill all the Serus! We can then move and look for more Trees!” Meta exclaimed with joy.

“Oh… So that’s what happened!” Dyne wondered how Vahn could go through Drake Castle alone. It had so many Gimards that one man couldn't go at it. But now, Dyne knew. There were fewer Gimards in that area as they all died when the Tree awoke.

“Lord Dyne?” Meta asked, noticing Dyne’s peculiar expression.

“Er… never mind. Anyway, that’s right! We have to look for the Genesis Tree. I found one more north of Drake Castle. We awaken the Genesis Tree when they attack to kill the Gimards and storm Drake Castle and awaken the Genesis Tree there!”

“We would need to find another person who will wield the Ra-Seru there.”

“Don’t worry. Tieg has already destined someone to wear that. Same with the Genesis Trees up north. But we have one concern. The Mist is engulfing one of the Genesis Tree! It’s near the Mist generator, so it’s dying. I am thinking of ways to strengthen it." Dyne explained.

“The easiest way is to awaken it. Is this not an option?”

“No. The moment any Genesis Tree is awakened, the henchmen of the Mist will immediately send their forces to attack and destroy the Genesis Trees around the world. That is why I want to awaken it, and then we would be immediately moving out to awaken the rest of the world. So the option right now is just to strengthen the Genesis Tree.”

“What about doing the same miracle you did with this Tree? It was because of that that I could awaken faster.”

“Not an option. Tieg said that that was a one-time thing.” Dyne sighed.

“The best way is to think of a way to drive the Mist back.” Meta suggested.

“Nothing big enough. I doubt the Biron Monks has a big fan that could drive the Mist back. Can Drake Water help?”

“I have seen that water… It does seem to have the ability to provide nourishment even to the Genesis Tree. But that is only a short-term solution.”

“If we are able to feed it Drake water constantly, would it be enough to make the Genesis Tree live for Tree years?”

“That depends on how strong the Genesis Tree is. I cannot estimate how long it can remain alive until I see it.”

“Can’t you do like a half-awakening?” Dyne asked.

“We are unable to do that. The moment we release the energy that awakens it, it cannot be stopped.”

“So, I guess we’re stuck with praying and Drake Water…” Dyne sighed.

Meta was silent. It was trying to think of ways to awaken it.

“Alright. Enough of that. We’ll figure out when we get there. The real reason why I decided to wake you up is to help me assimilate with Ginger.”

Ginger appeared nearby.

“Amazing! A Seru that can resist the Mist! It is as if it was granted consciousness!”

“Yeah. Sort of. Tieg gave me some handy abilities. I wanted to do what you did with Vahn. Or rather, I wanted to make use of Ginger in a way which allows me to link with it, just enough that I can protect it from the Mist when we go out.”

“I understand, Lord Dyne. It is similar to my method of merging with Vahn. I can guide you both to do it.”

The villagers were now surrounding the place. Many who saw Meta appeared from the three and merged with Vahn began to call out others. Tetsu was still in a trance-like state.

“A Ra-Seru! My son has a Ra-Seru!” Val excitedly called out as his large Slime pushed away various hunters who were gathering around the area.

“Erm… Can you guys give us some space! I’m kind of in the middle of something. Besides, Tetsu is in a trance. Please don’t disturb him.” Dyne began to shoo the rest away, and they immediately complied.

“Can you help me?” Dyne asked Meta.

“I can limit the actions of the Gimard and guide it. Luckily, this Gimard is of my Element. He will listen to my words, especially now that you have granted it understanding. But I fear that it won’t be enough. This Gimard may still become wild when exposed to the Mist longer.”

“Don’t worry about that. I have a technique that Strafe bestowed on me. I’ll be relying on you to control the Gimard’s actions, Meta!” Dyne used the Imaginarium Arts to preset to Meta what he wanted to portray.

A strange vision appeared to those nearby. They could see Dyne was wielding a weapon that no person on Legaia has seen.

“I… I understand, Lord Dyne.” Meta answered as he saw the vision.

“Vahn… Please follow my instructions…” Meta began to instruct Vahn as to what to do.

Dyne reached out and held Ginger.

Vahn raised his hands up and could feel powerful energy on his hands.

Soon, a bright red light flashed and fell upon the Gimard and Dyne.

Meta began to limit Ginger’s movements as Dyne’s soul reached out to establish contact.

Dyne suddenly released his ace. This was why he was so sure he could tame a Gimard without a Ra-Seru. It was the memories of Alos Vasilous.

The great love of the Goddess that made the former worlds in the Imaginarium Bond was so great that even though Dyne would receive it from Strafe, who received it from the Goddess, the loyalty of those people in Alos Vasilous still remained strong.

The Gimard’s soul was astounded at what it saw. And slowly, the consciousness that had been growing was getting stronger and stronger as memories flooded its mind.

With the surfacing of memories, Ginger’s mental process grew. It experienced thoughts, emotions, loyalty, and a deep desire to enact vengeance on the Goddess that died. And all this stabilized Ginger.

Ginger stopped trembling, and his soul was slowly creating a thin thread that connected to Dyne.

Meta was amazed by what she saw. It was then that she began to remember something. It was as if her past life flashed before her.

Strafe watched in amazement.

“Amazing. Even if I had those memories, I don’t think I can do what Dyne did. This monster just began cultivating in Soul a month ago! And he reached a stage that took me decades!” Strafe was amazed. He already had high hopes for Dyne, but he didn’t expect that Dyne would be able to create these miracles by himself.

The process lasted for a few seconds. The Gimard’s form was slowly changing. Guided by Meta, who controlled the Gimard’s soul, the Gimard was slowly changing its form.

It grew longer, and its chain-like body became stiffer and stiffer as if it was a long rod. The two blades on its legs were moving closer and closer and became a single large blade.

As for the head of the Gimard, which resembled the talon of a bird, it began to compress itself and became smaller with just a small tip of the beak protruding from its cap-like head. The beak extended downwards.

Dyne held Ginger and began to spin it around. He finally held it with Ginger’s leg raised high and his head down low.

Tetsu and the nearby hunters who were curiously watching were amazed.

The Gimard had transformed into a scythe.

“One month since he started cultivating, and he already has a Soul weapon. Amazing.” Strafe praised.
