Chapter 68: Memories of Crimson

Trina's POV

My life has just been so out of whack. Not knowing who I am or what I was, was getting a little bit tiring.

I seemed to always wake up in different places from where I was the previous night. The sight of blood when I woke up became a normal routine. I seemed to always have killed a creature.

Luckily I had not harmed any human-like creatures. So far so good but I have to get myself under control before anything bad happens.

At first, I started by waking up with bloody clothes, not knowing what had happened the previous night then one day the clothes just vanished. Even if I got clothes the next morning I would always wake up naked with only small clumps of red fur at my side.

What was happening?

Then one day I woke up in front of the gates of those fiends.

The ones that stole my memories from me. They acted so nice and charming that I fell for their act, if I had not left their village and met her Grace then I would have definitely believed them.

One of them claimed that I could be their salvation. He seemed to act so familiarly with me like we already knew each other. He called me by the name Trina and addressed me as a member of vampiric royalty. I can't believe I almost fell for his lies.

Now I know the truth. They are creatures of pure evil whose only purpose is the destruction of all demon kind.

How evil were they for turning me into one of them and stripping me of my memories. Did they want to turn my best friend her Grace against me? Truly despicable. They seemed so kind truly things are not what they always seem.

I still remember the day I met her grace and she offered to return my memories to me.

It all started after I had slept very peacefully in that so-called village of vampires not lacking a thing but when morning came I found myself out in the cold. I did not bother returning because I thought maybe if I left them I would not harm them with my animalistic side. I wish I had returned then I would have known the path that led to their village and they would be ruing their actions right now.

I wandered aimlessly for days not knowing where I was headed until one morning when I found myself caged like an animal.

"Interesting are you Lycanthrope? But you do have crimson hair. Maybe a lycanthropic vampire?"

That's all I heard from the one who captured me. He showed no care or mercy that I was human just like him. Torture was such enjoyment for him. Maybe this was the punishment I had to answer to for being such a vile being. Night came and as usual, I lost my senses.

When morning arrived I woke up to find his body half-devoured and the other half torn into several pieces. The cage I had been imprisoned in seemed to have been broken with such force that its bars shattered.

I could not find the strength to leave there for I had killed a human. Now that I had crossed that line what's to stop me from killing any other human beings.

I sat there wallowing in misery drowning in the guilt of killing a human being. Even if he tortured me he did not deserve to die.

When night came, I did not seem to lose my senses like how I usually did. I could see and hear everything, even reason out what was happening and freely control my movements. I did not understand why now.

My senses were still heightened like the first time I felt them but I was still in control. I walked out of the building and saw the night moon for the first time. It was such a beautiful sight.

There were buildings all around. How did anybody not hear the loud noises that were made inside this building? Maybe the walls were too thick and could not allow any sounds to escape them.

Looking at the buildings I hoped to not meet any humans since I was not sure if I was still going to be in control. Then I saw her, Descending from the skies. What a beautiful sight she was. She also saw me and flew to where I was.

"Are you one of them?"

"One of who? I don't understand."

"I mean are you one of the vampires of royal blood."

"I am not sure for I don't have my memories?"

"What type of excuse is that? How can a being of your Caliber lose its memories?"

Immediately a punch flew toward my face. I could see it and was at least able to dodge it but still, the sheer force behind it was immense.

"I see so you are one of them."

"One of who? I don't understand what you are talking about young girl."

"How dare you... My name is Reina. I might be young but I am not weak."

"Nice to meet you, Reina."

"Now tell me your name. Isn't it good practice to introduce yourself once the other party has introduced themselves."

"As I was telling you I don't know my name for I have lost my memories."

"Is that true? Then..."

After that the girl stopped for a moment and then looked at the sky. A beam of light pervaded the clouds and landed on her. A weird-looking device appeared in her hands

She looked back at me and with the device on her she said

"This will help you recover your memories. It is a gift from those above."

I was a little bit sceptical and tried to resist but a part of me saw her face and knew she couldn't be evil so at last I let her use it.

When she did it all came back to me. The memories that I shared with her. Her laughs, her joys, her sorrow. A sort of bond that I didn't know was there grew even stronger.

My name was Hildebrand. And now it all makes sense. The vampires that my Lady Reina hates with so much passion were the ones that turned me into one of them changing my appearance in the process and making me unknown to my own lady. I will do whatever it takes to please her and those vampires will pay for their evil act.

I only hope that my lady will accept me even if I am a vampire. I hope not to bring her sorrow the way they did.

"I remember everything, my lady. My name is Hildebrand and I am at your service. Use me as you see fit."
