Chapter 3: 3

The ──── summoning class continued without incident, and it was five minutes before the end while I was looking out the window.

Unfortunately, none of the students succeeded in summoning, but none of them were extremely depressed.

Most of the classmates were laughing together, saying it’s like that at first.

There were a few problems, but I’m glad it ended well. After all, peace is best.

I looked around in a good mood and relaxed my mouth, having had a good rest during class.

It was still hot and humid in the classroom, but I didn’t sweat too much, probably because I hardly moved.

Bianca-sensei, who had finished cleaning up, stood in front of the blackboard while my classmates were having a good time.

“Everyone, did you remove the magic circle for summoning properly? I’d like to end this lesson on summoning──── but I have one important announcement to make.”

After saying that, Dr. Bianca picked up a folded piece of paper and unfolded it with a bang.

It’s a calendar, and it’s filled with dates of school events and vacations.

“I’m sure some of you already know this, but just in case you don’t, here it is. Tomorrow, Flugel Academy will begin ──── testing week.”

The unfamiliar words rang in my ears and I hurriedly followed the date on the calendar.

There it was marked green all the time for about two weeks starting from tomorrow’s date.

It reminded me of a book and it was like a symbol for test week.

Testing week at Flugel Academy starts two weeks before the end-of-term exams.

During this time, afternoon classes are cut and students have more free time. However, there was no way that any of the students would be foolish enough to play around with the tests ahead of time…… Everyone was devoted to their studies.

I completely forgot about it! It’s almost the end of the semester test! There’s been so much going on lately that it’s slipped my mind!

I was so distracted by the fast-changing environment that I forgot about the test, and I was relieved that they told me about it.

I’m glad I was informed. I said feeling relieved, as I thought about how to prepare for the end-of-term test.

In front of me, thinking about how to prepare for the end-of-term test, Bianca-sensei let out a single breath, “Fu……”.

“Normally, your homeroom teacher, Cyrus-sensei, should be the one to inform you, but he’s been holed up in the lab. …… I know it’s none of my business, but I wanted to let you know.” {TN: Sorry, it was previously a translation error, what was previously Silas-sensei is now Cyrus-sensei}

It’s not that I’m offended, it’s just that you’ve been so helpful. If Bianca-sensei hadn’t told us, we would have had to face the test week without knowing anything about it. That’s a bit of a problem.

Well, that doesn’t mean I blame Cyrus-sensei for being obsessed with researching the flame spirit plant….. It’s my fault, after all. I’m sure he’s struggling a lot if he’s taking time off from the class to stay in the lab.

I really hope that Cyrus-sensei will do his best! And I hope he’ll find a use for the mutant! Otherwise, my life will be in danger!

As I shuddered, I really hoped that he would come up with a good research result.

The reason is because the emperor gave the flame spirit plant to Cyrus-sensei, saying that it would be useful for his research. If it turned out to be a useless weed, it might provoke His Majesty’s wrath.

I don’t think they would so easily cut off a mage who could use the prayer technique, but…… I couldn’t be absolutely sure.

“That’s all for now. Good luck studying for the test, everyone. That’s it for now, class is over. Thank you for your hard work.”

After announcing the end of the class, Bianca-sensei grabbed her textbooks and headed for the door.

As I watched her back walk away, I heard the chime go off.

This was the signal for a lively atmosphere in the classroom, with topics related to the end-of-term exams flying everywhere.

“How are you going to study for the test?”

“There’s nothing to do but review.”

“How about going to the seniors to ask them what kind of questions they had last year?”

“I’ll go ask them. I have a friend in the second year.”

They quickly discuss test preparation and make a promise to study together in the library tomorrow.

While I was feeling a bit alienated from my classmates, I saw His Highness Grayson walking towards me.

He was wearing a blazer that he wore tightly, despite the midsummer heat.

Most of the students were taking off their blazers because of the heat.

I don’t know how he can stand the midsummer heat in that outfit. …… If it were me, I would never be able to.

His Highness Grayson stopped in front of me, not breaking a sweat and looking cool as a cucumber.

He shakes his lustrous black hair and places one hand on my desk.

“Charlotte-san, do you have a moment?”

“Yes, of course, but what’s wrong…..?”

When I tilted my head and asked that, His Highness Grayson opened his mouth again.

“I’d like to ask you something in particular.”

“What? What is it that you want from me?”

I was so surprised that I couldn’t help but ask him back. His Highness nodded his head without being offended.

As my eyes widen, the eyes of my classmates are drawn to me.

Everyone was curious about what His Highness Grayson was asking me to do.

It’s unusual for His Highness to ask me for a favor. Maybe it’s the first time. I’ve been helped on the other hand many times, but…….

I’m sorry to be so dependent on you, and I’ll do what His Highness Grayson asks as best I can!

“I understand. So, what is it that you want me to do for you?”

I straightened my back and stared straight at His Highness Grayson.

Lapis Lazuli’s eyes, looking down at me, were serious, and I couldn’t help but feel nervous.

When I was worried about whether it was such a serious request, he opened his thin lips.

“The request is about the final exam. Miss Charlotte, I need you to teach me ──── magic.”

“What ……?”

I couldn’t help but raise my voice in disbelief at the unexpected request.

This is exactly what it means to be out of sync. At least, it’s not something I would say in a formal manner.

If you hadn’t prefaced it with “I need a favor,” I would have told you it was fine…… Well, I’m glad it was a simple favor.

I was so weak that I leaned against the back of my chair, my nerves completely gone.

I know I’m sloppy, but please let me off the hook for once. ……

“Fu……”

As the people around me looked at me with sympathy, I let out a single breath.

“If it’s okay with you, I can teach you. Magic is my specialty. ……”

The chime of the bell drowned out the words I was going to continue.

After all, it seemed that a sufficient break was not enough time.

His Royal Highness Grayson looked at the clock and made a little thoughtful motion.

“It’s late. …… We’ll talk more after school. Do you mind?”

“Yes, of course.”

When I nodded that I had no objection, His Highness Grayson said, “Well, I’ll see you after school,” and turned himself around.

I gazed at his back as he walked away and let out a breath.

At any rate, I’m glad it wasn’t a request that would get me in trouble. I was wondering what I would do if he asked me to steal the school’s documents or something. Well, he wouldn’t make such a request in public, but …….

For now, let’s just wait quietly for after school.

That’s what I told myself, and I changed gears.
