Chapter 554: The Path To Becoming The Ghost Empress Part 1

Angelica ignored the screaming coming from behind her as she took in all the books. Each book flowed into her head, filling it with more knowledge than she could ever dream of. The human girl with glasses could only watch on with tears forming in her eyes. Although she had already read the books here, she still wanted to reread some of them! "It's fine like this..."

"You don't sound so sure!" The girl with glasses whined.

"She will be our new master soon, so this much is nothing. We should go. It is time to merge back together." The voice behind the human girl with glasses announced.

"Mm..." The human girl with glasses nodded before her body began to glow. Her body became a little taller, and her breasts began to get bigger until finally, an elegant young woman much different from the human girl with glasses stood there. "How many years has it been since I have been in my complete form. If not for the fact that I stand out like this, I would not split myself in two."

The elegant young woman walked over and stood behind Angelica, who was still consuming the books with a difficult expression. She still had an urge to reread some of those books! But as the shelves emptied and the library that was once filled with the knowledge of the ancients became nothing more than a place to collect dust, Angelica smiled brightly, seeing how all this information was readily at hand now. With just a thought on a subject, as long as it was in one of these books, she would instantly find the information she was looking for.

As Angelica was consuming the books, she already knew someone was behind her. "If you wish to say something, say it, please. It is not very nice to stare at someone."

"Ah, sorry…." The elegant woman rubbed her nose, realizing her mistake, and said: "My Name is Jeana. I am..."

"You are one of the keepers of the trial. I already know. It's just that..." Angelica waved her hand, and a tiny little figure floated over to her. It was no bigger than a mouse, but it was shaped just like Angelica. It stood in the air with a proud look on its face before sticking its tongue out at Jeana and merging back into Angelica. "You need to be more aware of your surroundings."

"This!" Jeana looked at the figure merging with Angelica in disbelief before a bright smile formed on her lips. "You really are the one."

Jeana suddenly knelt to the floor and bowed her head. "As your trial is already set in stone, let this one greet the new Ghost Empress.."

"No need for that until I actually pass the trial," Angelica said as she finished consuming the last of the books. "As for your library, I do apologize. I just couldn't help it."

"No, it's fine. This is the knowledge you should have anyway." Jeana replied. Although it was a bit saddening, she was happy Angelica could make use of this knowledge.

What Jeana did not know was that on the outside, Angelica's real body was doing the same thing in the ancient library she was in. This caused a scene for Camlia and Tian. Dusting her hands now that she had eaten her fill of knowledge, she turned and looked at Jeana. "You will come with me. Since you are loyal to the previous Ghosty Empress, I will have you follow me from now on as well. Your name is Jeana, right? My name is Angelica. We will be working together from now on."

Jeana lifted her head and looked at Angelica in shock before her lips curled into a smile as tears ran down her face. "Yes, your highness!"

"Alright then, let's get going. I would like to get this trial over and done with as quickly as possible. I will need to set up a lot of things once I complete the trial." Angelica had learned a lot about this place from the library texts and many new skills as well. She felt that when it came time to kill the goddess of life that she might not lose to her as she was now. The knowledge that the Ghost Empress was someone who could use a single word to control a soul was not known to anyone. She did not know this until she read that book. But the power of words was not only able to control souls but anything.

Angelica and Jeana left the library. Jeana had no need to lock the door since the library was already empty. The two walked right out of town, heading towards the river of reincarnation. The souls that passed by all paused as Angelica walked by them. For some reason, they felt the girl was not someone they should mess with. She gave off an aura of a ruler, someone who could easily command them to do her bidding. Angelica herself had not noticed all of this or the fact that after consuming the book of the dead, her aura had completely changed. Jeana could also feel this aura, but her reverence for Angelica was already set in stone.

The only thing on Angelica's mind was finishing everything quickly so she could take out the goddess of life and allow her Mama to grow stronger. So strong that no one would be her match. Angelica's mission was one of pure love for her mother and her wantingness to be with her family. The feeling of the hugs and kisses her mother gave her when she was young she yearned for dearly. The path to becoming strong could be a lonely one. Just knowing she had others out there waiting for her to grow more power was what kept her moving. She did not know how her sisters felt but for her. Being with them all once again was what she wanted the most.

The trip to the River of reincarnation was to take a month from the town she had started in. It was a long journey with many souls risking the dangers to either take on the trials or risk jumping into the river itself in hopes of being reincarnated. This journey was not easy as it was full of risks. Many would be consumed by stronger souls looking to become powerful, only to be consumed by their own greed for strength, turning into monsters. Angelica could see monsters so big that their heads reached into the sky. This was the result of the continuous devouring of souls. She could only shake her head at this sight after learning so much about this realm. She felt pity for the souls who thought this was the right path and for the souls who were consumed in the process. "I should probably set them free while I am here…." Angelica mumbled to herself. She decided she would clean up the realm of the dead and set those souls that were consumed free.
