Chapter 1: A mysterious encounter.

.... Notification....

Hunter Application: "Alert! A F-rank dungeon has appeared near you. Would you like to participate?"

So Seung-Ho pressed the notification and rejected the proposal.

The dungeons of rank F were ignored by all. Due to the small amount of resources in them, only the weakest hunters participated in order not to starve.

So Seung-Ho was one of those hunters. He was weak, very weak.

Although passionate about raiding, he decided to abstain for fear of injury.

Getting hurt in an F-rank dungeon was unthinkable. However, Seung managed to get hurt in every raid. Once, he was even at death's door.

Seung clung to his dream of becoming a hunter, but it was impossible.

In contrast to his hunting skills, his intellectual qualities were remarkable. As a student at one of the best universities in Seoul, there was no doubt that he would occupy an exceptional position.

"So Seung-Ho! So Seung-Ho!"

So Seung-Ho's friend shouted through the school's corridors. He hurriedly and excitedly walked towards Seung.

"Kim Seo-Jun, weren't you supposed to have class?"

"Normally yes, but Mr. Chi-Hun is absent".

He said while recovering his breath.

"Are you aware of the appearance of an S-rank dungeon in Seoul?"

"Yes, I was just calling you to talk about that. The <scarlet sword> and <berserkers> guilds will be cooperating on this raid."

So Seung-Ho frowned showing his incomprehension.

"It's an S rank certainly, but the <scarlet sword> guild would have been enough on its own."

"Apparently this dungeon would be S+ rank. The tools used to determine the level of the dungeon were not good enough to measure the immense mana that the dungeon gives off. Fortunately, the leveling of high-ranking dungeons is subject to several checks.

"An S+ rank dungeon?!..."

Surprised Seung-Ho wanted to take his phone to check the information. Before his hand reached his pants pocket, his phone started to vibrate strongly.

The hunters' app notified people throughout the city, "Alert! An S+ rank dungeon is near you. Please take refuge in the underground."

No sooner had he finished reading the notification than a message was transmitted throughout the university over the loudspeakers.

"Students are invited to reach the basements of the building in the quietest possible way."

So Seung-Ho and Kim Seo-Jun looked at each other, feeling both anxiety and excitement.

They set up in the basement of the building, a large room with enough chairs for each student and a huge projector. The headmaster waited until all the students were seated to start the live of the female hunters San-Ha and Yoo-Ri, from the <scarlet sword> and <berserkers> guilds respectively.

Each guild had a specialized hunter to film the raids in order to share them but especially to avoid crimes.

The live function could not be activated in the tower because of the thick layer of mana surrounding it, preventing any signal from getting through.

Thus, the students only watched the fighters' battles against the portals.

"Hello everyone, this is the famous S+ level dungeon! Each dungeon consists of a tower and portals around it. The tower you can see is huge, there must surely be over a hundred floors!".

One could contemplate a tower that overlooked the city; even splitting the clouds of it.

The Tower could certainly be seen from hundreds of miles away.

"The amount of mana that the tower gives off is considerable. Because of this, four A+ rank portals have opened."

It was impossible to enter portals; waiting and killing the monsters that came out was the only way to fight these portals. They only disappeared if the tower was conquered.

To protect the inhabitants from these monsters, the implementation of basements under each building was decided 50 years ago by the hunters' union, an international organization uniting the majority of the countries of the world.

"This is the second portal counted this year in the world to exceed S+ rank. S and SS rank hunters are entering the tower!"

Although the S+ rank towers are difficult, there are towers with a higher rank, those of SS, SS+, dragon and chaos rank.

Shouts of encouragement and excitement filled the room as the hunters were announced. In a world where the human race was hanging on by a thread because of the monsters, the hunters were in a way the saviors but also the kings of this world.

"Faced with the amount of S and SS fighters this tower requires, the best Korean guilds had to join forces to deal with this threat."

S- and SS-rank hunters were miracles of nature. While a quarter of the humans had awakened powers, the number of S and SS hunters did not exceed 200 and 25 respectively.

Monsters of power capable of competing with countries.

But this power was nothing compared to what was called the chosen ones. 5 hunters immensely more powerful than the others, the world class hunters.

"Hunters emerge victorious from the tower!"

After 2 hours of struggle, the tower was conquered. For the hunters in the tower, it was not 2 hours but 2 days.

This strong alliance was effective.

The loss of life and damage to property was minimal thanks to the alliance of the two guilds.

Outside the university, as well as inside, people were in good spirits.

The students applauded the achievement.

"They are really too strong!"

"Completing a portal in 2 hours is a feat!"

"I wish I could be like them.

The students in the room exclaimed.

These fighters were the pride and joy of Korea.

The headmaster gestured with his hand for the students to calm down and then spoke:

"As a result of the appearance of the dungeon, class schedules have been disrupted. Under these circumstances, classes for the day are cancelled. You will find, on the school's website, the classes to be made up and explanatory videos. Thank you for your understanding."

The students calmly left the room. Some went home, others engaged in endless discussions about the event they had just witnessed.

"I'm going to take the opportunity to relax and do some shopping, I'm exhausted"

Seo-Jun said while stretching.

"You've barely worked all day, you can't be tired already..."

"My body has been through way too much emotion, I'm running out of energy."

"Rest well then, I should do the same."

Seung-Ho turned his head and raised his hand in farewell.

Arrived at his apartment, he threw himself on his bed, the head first on the pillow. He let out a small sigh ridding him of the strong stimulation that this day gave him.

This was a rare event. Only one or two dungeons of higher rank than S+ appeared in the world.

He turned on his phone and looked at the many articles and reactions on social networks.

This raid went around the world in no time. The first videos of the fights in the tower were posted on the platforms.

At this news, Seung-Ho's eyes widened and his heart rate increased again.

He was happy to be able to see the raid in the tower.

The second floor showed a city like Seoul engulfed in flames.

Just as the tower distorted time, it also distorted space. Although the tower was colossal, the interior was much larger.

In the video, we could hear the famous hunter of SS rank, Kwok Seo-Jun. He was in charge of conquering the tower.

Demons were appearing by the hundred. Some were coming out of ruined buildings, others were flying.

The hunter Hye-Jin of the guild <the Berserkers> approached these monsters at great speed by propelling herself with her flames. With lightning speed, she destroyed about 60 monsters.

Its speed was such that the human eye was not able to see it move. Only its flames attested to its presence.

"waaaa..."

He expressed his admiration for Hye-Jin's sublime and powerful attacks.

The monsters must have been about ten meters long, all covered with fire and water.

"So these are what we call the demon elements.

Marmona Seung-Ho who saw for the first time the appearance of the demon elements.

Since the creation of the dungeons, 12 races of demons have been discovered: goblins, giants, skeletons, insects, dragons, beasts, orcs, fire elements, ice elements, earth elements, air elements and water elements.

Being only in the high level dungeons, he had never had the opportunity to see these demon elements.

Fortunately for him...

These elements of nature were demons whose bodies were covered by their element.  These creatures were formidable. Some of them could measure about thirty meters in height while others were a few centimeters tall.

On this floor, the monsters were gigantic too. To say they were big was an understatement.

At the end of each floor of the tower was a boss. A demon that reigned over the floor.

The most powerful ones developed some form of intelligence that allowed them to talk with humans.

After a few minutes, the fighter group crushed the first wave of demons, the weakest on the floor.

              - Kwok Seo-Jun: "the difficulty of this floor must be S, I'll take another SS fighter and a healer with me to storm the boss, the rest of the group will take care of the other demons."

In all towers, the difficulty between each floor was 1%. In other words, if the tower consisted of 100 floors then the top floor was a little over 2.5 times as difficult as the second floor.

In this way, Kwok Seo-Jun was able to determine that the first floor had to be about S rank.

The person who was in charge of filming was not allowed to film the boss's fight, as she would be in great danger. Even if she had been allowed to do so, the camera would surely be smashed to pieces because of the great pressure of the mana of the boss and the hunters.

Seung-Ho spent his entire evening watching the raid. It was a habit for him to watch raids and not only S+ rank. He was passionate about everything and watched any kind of content related to hunters.

He finally put down his phone, curled up under his blanket and sighed. A sigh that expressed a deep sadness. That of not being able to be like the hunters he had just seen.

There was a lack in him.

Perhaps it was because he never knew his parents?

Did he need to feel loved?

To show people your value?

He slowly closed his eyelids and then suddenly opened them again.

He felt his body fall into the void, he had to open his eyes, everything was black around him.

He began to pant.

The speed of the fall was too fast for him.

Thinking of the shock he was about to suffer, he screamed with all his strength and cried.

Bouuuuuuummm... !

The moment he had been dreading arrived.

To his surprise, no pain.

The first thing he did was to look at the state of his limbs.

As he inspected himself, his body shook.

Seung, traumatized, had not even noticed that his environment was bright again.

His instincts had conditioned him to check the condition of his body and ignore the rest. This was not surprising from an F-rank hunter as weak as he was.

"Don't worry, your body didn't suffer any damage thanks to me"

He raised his head slowly, with fear.

He saw the figure of a man. He was sitting on a table with his knees crossed and his back straight.

This person looked at Seung with a very amused look, looking a bit like a psychopath.

The person's style of dress and face caught Seung's attention.

There was something special about him.

Seung took a deep breath and decided to speak.

"Where... am I? Who... are you?"
