Chapter 4: 4

4 : First Check – 2

After taking a break and doing other chores in real life, I re-logged into “CNP.”

The login time for this first day added up to 8 hours in real time, so there was around 5 hours left in the day. However, if you converted it into game time, you’d have 15 hours remaining and there were still many things left to do.

“There’s no one around, that fact hasn’t changed. I wonder if it was due to the area being considered my own personal space in the first place? Maybe I was thrown into a unique starting area because I signed the contract? In any case, It was probably something that would gradually be explained later.”

After logging in, what came into view was the same small open concrete room I saw before I logged out earlier.

Come to think of it, this room has no lighting or windows so how is it bright enough to the point where I’m able to see things?

It could’ve be the same reason connected to why there’s no one around was what I thought, but if it was pitch-dark, it’d be inconvenient for me so I kept my mouth shut.

“Now then, it all starts here.”

Let’s make some progression in the game right away.

With that, I picked up the necklace with a loupe that was prepared as my beginning equipment.

Moreover, as a result of 8 hours of effort, I’ve reached the level where I can maintain my posture with just slight movements from my wings. If it’s just movement to this extent, I won’t be falling over anytime soon.

“Appraisal Loupe, was it?”

Back to the topic at hand.

The name of this item was『Appraisal Loupe』

It was an item that allowed you to obtain information on an object by looking at it through the glass and pressing the red button on the side of it.

“Okay, It worked out well.”

My status was displayed.

As a matter of fact, in “CNP,” to check your own status you needed to use the『Appraisal Loupe』.

Also, since I was viewing my personal status, everything was displayed to me, but when viewing other people’s statuses without permission, the only 4 fields visible were title, name, level, and HP.

“My HP went down as a side effect of the item didn’t it”
The『Appraisal Loupe』costed 1 HP each time you used its appraisal.
I questioned if there was a point in taking away 1 HP. However, one who laughs at 1 will cry at 1. (1)
Though I’m already crying from my curse which forces me to float. I’ll be careful with not exceeding the HP limit.
“No problems with satiety. I wonder if it was possibly because of my level or the room.”
I looked over my statuses one by one.

Level wasn’t something I was worried about now.

As for HP…. If I’m remembering right, in “CNP,” it was a resource that could easily be depleted and recovered. Satiety was another seemingly flexible resource. A demerit would be applied when hunger runs out, but right now, it appears consumption was paused for some reason.

If I’m not mistaken, Interference was a collective stat that influenced other abilities. In simple terms, it affected aspects such as attack power, defense, and speed.

Furthermore, in actual practice, the amount of damage received was automatically calculated using factors such as the speed of the attack, how hard the target is, and which part of the target was hit. Depending on which area gets destroyed, it could also result in an instant death.

Yeah, I can see why HP was designed to be easily accessible.

“Abnormalities 19 was… well, probably my abnormalities huh.”

The problem starts here.

I obtained my current avatar through signing a pledge in which I was solely responsible for whatever happens.

In other words, I definitely received a unique avatar even if it followed specifications.

And this count of 19 abnormalities may have a role.

Though, I have no idea what it really means currently.

Was it okay to assume all of my abnormalities would be displayed on my avatar?

The official website said that the immortality curse was what made you be regarded as a player.

“As for the titles… Ah, I can re-appraise it”

I studied the titles field through my『Appraisal Loupe』

Suddenly, the option to choose if I wanted to view the section in detail appeared.

I re-appraised with the new option.

By expending another 1 HP, I analyzed the contents of the unsettling title,『Spawn Of Jugemu』

『Spawn Of Jugemu』

Effect : Decreased favorability from NPCS with low degree of abnormalities. – MAX

Requirement : Initial Abnormalities 16

Sane people look at you in disgust. Though, the world which you live in is different from a sane person’s.

“……”

I gaze up at the sky for the time being. Or more precisely, all my eyes look up, which causes me to regain my composure.

“Well, can’t help it now that I have it. It wasn’t like it was possible to pick and choose accordingly with the initial abnormalities anyways.”

In “CNP,” only one title could be set to show to other players, but it seems like the effects from the titles will always be active once they’re acquired.

Because of that, it looks like I’ll consistently be hated by all the low abnormality NPCs.

And if it’s at max…. In all likelihood, I’ll end up being treated as a subjugation target once they recognize me.

Not like there’s any way around it now since it’s already been acquired.

It seems the purpose of the written contract was arranged for situations like this.

“Alright, change of pace over. Next, let’s investigate the items in the room.”

After closing my status screen, I lightly flutter over to a strange bowl that contained some sort of green liquid gently flowing out of it.

“One who laughs over one yen will eventually cry over one yen.”
Or, in more broader sense, “One who carelessly spends, will eventually come up short.”
