Jester’s POV
I am here, alone. The communications are lost and now I can only rely on myself. Well, I still have that mission of hers.
I did my best not to look at the bodies and headed to the village’s main street. I carefully examined the street to make sure there will be no enemy troops.
For now everything appeared to be clear so I dashed to the other side. For a moment I was considering trying to search for the other possible survivors but I doubt I will find any. I was dashing between the covers until I arrived to the church. I pushed the door but it didn’t move a centimeter.
“S*… OPEN DAMN YOU!” I mustered the strength and kicked it. Something moved but the door was still closed.
I kicked the door again and again until I broke a lock and the door opened. It was then I saw a small number of cavalrymen entering the village. I am certain they saw me.
The horses galloped at me and I quickly hid inside the church and barricaded the door. The enemy began trying to open the door.
Tra-ta-ta-ta-ta
The outside went silent and I cautiously opened the door. There was one dead body and a horse running around in panic. The other cavalryman ran away and most likely he will return with his friends.
While I still had time I began blocking the door with everything I have here: the chairs, the benches and the firewood.
After I was satisfied with this barricade I went upstairs and climbed up to the top of the church. There was a small room where the bell is. It had a good visibility of the area so I took position.
I was examining the area with binoculars.
It didn’t take me long to find a lot of moving objects. They all were far away from the village. After a closer look I saw that it is an army which was crossing a river. There was a large wooden bridge where marched tens, even hundreds of soldiers.
If I am not as stupid as the captain claims me to be then the army is our enemy. I doubt that the allied army would suddenly try to cross the bridge and head back.
Now I somewhat understood the situation. The enemy encircled the allied army and will try to intercept the supplies and reinforcements. Here we are, one man against an army and if I fail then nobody would know about the incoming threat.
When I was done looking at the army I saw that a large number of horsemen arrived and the troops already dismounted.
Tra-ta-ta Tra-ta-ta Tra-ta-ta
I fired the remaining rounds and changed magazine. The enemy was scared and shocked by the unknown weapon that killed their comrades, yet it was not enough to force them to flee.

If you want to conserve ammo then you better use semi-auto. Thank you, drill sergeant.
As it is not only my damned hide that is under threat but the entire crew, I did not hesitate aiming at the enemy. I will never forgive myself and will ask the Satan to fry me as painfully as he can, if I let Old man and kid get hurt.
Bang-bang
The enemy scattered and was trying to approach the church.
When they approached close enough I threw a grenade.
BANG
The situation was close to a stalemate. The enemy had to stop advancing while I had to stop firing. I already loaded the third magazine and if I won’t conserve the ammo then soon I will fire the spent cases.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
F*! They are already at the door?!
Before the engagement I found a good spot where I can fire at the door from the safety of the top, now it could be my only opportunity.
Bang-bang
I fired at the door to make the enemy go away and after the knocking ended I raised my head to fire at the guys outside.
‘Ping’
Right when I peeked outside I almost had an arrow between my eyes. The situation was quickly getting out of hand. I was too used to being in advantage that I forgot that the medieval guys have long-range weapons themselves.
I stuck out the gun and fired a few shots in the direction I thought the archer was. When I peeked again I was not shot and kept on firing at the approaching enemies. There were more and more of them.
‘Clack-Clack’
Three mags remaining and a grenade. I am surrounded and there is no way to warn anybody.
Great, let the party begin?
