Days later…
*Tok*
The wooden pieces clacked on the board.
“.…shoes with wheels underneath, a multi-coloured cube that one has to solve, board games…mmm, neat.”
Greg had been interested in what ideas Ralf was looking to sell if the casino thing hadn’t panned out successfully. Asking about it, Ralf relayed the ideas he and Rei had been considering. Greg saw the value in them, but couldn’t help but be underwhelmed.
“It's more normal than I expected,” he said as he telekinetically made his next move.
*Tok*
Ralf, on the opposite couch, shrugged. “I chose those ideas because they’re simple and can quickly turn a profit.” He leaned forward, making his move while grabbing a cookie with his other hand. “I have a ton more amazing ideas in my head.” He tossed the cookie in his mouth at his words' end.
“Oh, such as?” Greg’s intrigue was stroked. Not wanting to miss a word, he paused his cup’s ascent.
Ralf chewed well as he savoured the chocolate chip snack. Needless to say, he had already recorded the taste into the Mental Space.
Washing it down with juice, he pondered the question before saying, “A handheld device that lets anybody have abilities comparable to a Natural, a technology that will replace the worldwide Telepathic network, a business venture that will make one richer than any Merchant Pillar and…well, I have a lot of ideas.”
Greg’s face twisted up in bafflement. “You’re joking right?”
Ralf shook his head and grabbed another cookie. He couldn’t resist them. Holding it near his nose, he wiggled it, allowing the sugary scent to entice his senses.
“I wasn’t joking about beating Moriya, right. The same applies here. In a not-so-distant future, you’ll see it for yourself.”
Greg resumed his drinking, he needed to. The youth before him wasn’t someone he could match while sober.
“Those ideas are absurd, and yet I don’t feel like you’re just making it up. Where did you find these ideas anyway?”
*Tok*
“I said it before…I stole the ideas from another world,” Ralf said casually, as he made his next move.
“Another world?”
“Yeah, another world.”
Greg's face turned bitter. ‘Guess I’m not going to get the real explanation anytime soon.’
He gave his beard a ruffle and refocused on the board. “I guess, I’ll just have to wait patiently. A device that can give one Natural-like ability, I could’ve used that during my matches against Moriya…or this one, damn. You're brutal, kid,” he said with a sigh. “I resign. Knight and pawn's odds didn't change anything. Let's go with a knight and two pawns next time.”
“Sure sure.”
The two continued their jovial chatter over the chessboard. An hour later, Ralf ate his last cookie and got up.
“Off already?”
“Yeah, need to do some exercise and training.”
“Mm, see you tomorrow, boy. The goods are in the kitchen. Oh, and tell your mom I say hi.”
“Will do. And thanks again.”
“No problem, glad to help. ”
Thanking him again, Ralf retrieved the ‘goods’ and made the short walk home. Entering, he dropped the grocery bags in the kitchen.
“Oh, so much again. Greg is really generous. Ralf, don’t forget to thank him.”
“Of course of course.”
“I’ll get started with dinner. Anything you want?”
“Nothing in particular, you can choose,” Ralf said as he turned around.
Seeing the direction he was moving in, Hana asked. “Going to exercise?”
Ralf paused, executed a right straight before saying, “Of course, can’t be the strongest without it.”
Hana smiled. “Work hard then.”
Ralf nodded then made his way to the spacious backyard. He had transformed this place into his personal gym. With his mother’s help, stone weights, beams, and other contraptions had been created.
The result was the complete devastation of the yard’s former beauty. The once neat and even grass floor now had many craters adorning it. The walls enclosing the place suffered a similar fate. Soon, the backyard was made to suffer again as Ralf began his training routine.

It was intense. Buckets of sweat were made to pour out as he pushed his body to its limits and beyond...for hours on end. This type of exercise wasn’t feasible with a normal body, but with Ralf’s, it worked out perfectly.
By disabling his sense of pain, Ralf could carry out torturous exercises with ease. This wasn’t to say that he was reckless, he knew how far beyond was safe and what was not. His natural regeneration, the regeneration potions, and his mother’s basic medical skills worked in tandem to keep him from getting seriously injured. So far, there had been no problems.
Swoosh!
Using his hands and core strength, an upside-down Ralf spun around like a helicopter. Twisting his body, he launched kicks at the surrounding air, as his body shifted from upright to upside down to sideways in rapid succession. This was all while delivering unorthodox attack after attack. Continuing the sequence for several more seconds, he ended it with a front flipping axe kick.
Taking a moment to breathe, Ralf headed for the potions.
Mental Link!
As his hand touched the vial, the invisible tether attached to his soul, bringing with it his other self’s voice.
[[Ralf, check it.]]
[[Still nothing,]] Ralf said as he released his Psi.
A sigh was felt from the other side as the erratic Psi was observed.
Ralf shook his head. [[They say you can feel the exact moment when the Consolidation Phase ends. It’ll happen soon. This is the final day after all. Well, unless we're somehow exceptions, hopefully, we're not. Anyway, what are you doing?]]
[[Just got done programming something new, Hell’s Dungeon. This is the first of many I plan to make. After exercising, give it a shot. It’s pretty hardcore.]]
[Oh.]] Ralf’s spirits revved up at the prospect. Something Rei called hardcore would no doubt be nigh impossible. He was eager to give it a go. [[I’ll take a crack at it.]]
[[Good. I’ll do some reading in the meantime. Work hard.]]
Mental Link disconnected, Ralf resumed his exercises.

Five days had passed since the move-in.
Training inside and outside the Mental Space, spending time with Hana, each other, and visiting Greg… the days passed peacefully, but eventfully.
Patience.
Ralf and Rei were forced to train this virtue as they waited for their Consolidation Phase to come to an end.
Till it was over, they had resolved themselves to play turtle. Since moving in, they hadn’t stepped an inch outside the Orchard District. Hana was made to play turtle as well. Their turtle-ling was enabled by Greg, who kept them fed.
The act didn’t sit well with their prideful natures but the duo bore it with grit teeth. Only after exiting the Consolidation Phase and getting familiar with their Telekinetic powers would they think to leave. Until then, they waited, killing time with other tasks.
Knowledge is power, and right now Rei was in the process of increasing said power. Dozens of ‘books’ had gathered around his couch.
On the Brink, Humanity’s Dark Age - Caralia Sumaron (Society of Learning)
The Divine Year - Araka Edmon Ravelo (Society of Learning)
The Legend of the True King, Caelus Bucculeius Bellus Volume 2 - Von Dinkle (Society of Learning)
The Radiant Church, A Catastrophic Mistake - Numen Shuraba (Society of Learning)
The Chronicles of the Great Scramble Volume 4, The Burning of Brenton Incident - Jona X’ Rehox (Society of Learning)
History. Upon sinking his teeth into this subject, Rei found himself craving more and more. He was a lover of interesting stories, and this world's...world history delivered on this in spades. It read like an epic fantasy novel and was truly a treat to consume. Rei couldn't get enough. And not only was it pleasurable but also extremely enlightening.
Understanding history was vital in understanding the present. Knowing this, Rei was ravenous. Another reason for his delve was to avoid stepping on landmines.
As a denizen of another world, he was unfamiliar with many of this world’s customs. Rei’s delve into history sought to correct this. Ignorance could be dangerous and possibly fatal. Inis’s culture around titles was just one example of this. Through his exploration, he came to find many other landmines his ignorant self could have unknowingly stepped on.
‘Ah, I read everything.’
Finishing the last unread history 'book', disappointment filled Rei; he was still thirsty.
Floating the ‘book’ away, he reclined back and satiated his thirst with a milkshake and a thought.
‘Ralf mentioned that he didn’t get everything. There’s still much to read,’ he glanced at the books. ‘Should I do a reread?’ He pondered this for a few seconds before concluding, ‘No, that’s a waste of time. Let's run through everything instead.’
Four different periods and the events surrounding them were the targets of Rei’s focus.
First, his mind drifted back, to the events of ten thousand years ago.
