Chapter 33: Chapter 32

Different from his first Lightning, the second one didn't scare Leon all that much. As expected, Leon had to concentrate for a while, but once the cloud formed after ten seconds, it hit the exact place Leon had designated to hit. It wasn’t powerful like the ones he had seen in storms, but it was stupid powerful magic nonetheless… and it was at level one.

“…I bet with this; I can surprise a megalodon.”

That being said, Leon wouldn’t use it. It requires time to be used, and it used a lot of mana. Leon decided to train that skill now and then, but his goal still was to use the steel platform and the steel spears to go to the continent and then from there find a safer way to go home.

Days passed fast while Leon was training his skills, despite his constant vigilance, nothing really major happened. He thought that someday the smoke he used to attract pterodactyl would attract a dragon, but fortunately, it never happened. Even if it happens, Leon had already a plan to deal with that, he dug a hole and would use it to protect himself from the flames of a dragon.

“I guess they don’t approach because the oceans belong to the megalodons… I don’t know if I feel thankful knowing the fact that the dragons’ power isn’t absolute or if I feel depressed that I will have to face such creatures both in the ocean and in the skies to survive the trip.”

Just knowing that both creatures could oppose each other was bone-chilling. Leon could easily imagine a movie of those two abyssal monsters facing each other and becoming a blockbuster.

One day Leon started to ponder if he could ride a tornado to escape from the island, he was confident that he could obtain and level Wind Resistance to decrease the damage he would receive, but soon gave up on the idea. Even if he could start one, there was no way to control it. He would be able to free himself from the dangers of the megalodons only to chain himself with the chains of the uncertainty. In the worst-case scenario, he would end up in the middle of the Pacific ocean with no island on sight.

Leon didn’t want to admit it, but he already became used to his daily life on the island. The darkness of the night didn’t scare him anymore, and the fact that he didn’t hear any human voice in almost two years didn’t bother him. Despite that, there were days where he couldn’t help but worry. Nothing unusual happened in those days, but once in a while, there were days were Leon would forget his goal. He trained because it was already a habit, and he didn’t recall his goals or his family. Those days were the worst because after noticing that, he would feel his heart grow cold, and he also felt like something was stuck in his throat.

The next days after those kinds of days, Leon would work twice as hard. He was determined to go back home, but considering the difficulty level of his goal, he couldn’t help but force himself to be patient. Regardless, Leon started to question if someday he wouldn’t just forget about his goal… since he barely could remember the voices of his parents and little sister.

Scared of that possibility, on the day of his second anniversary on that island, Leon decided to escape using the steel platform and his lances. He knew that he wasn’t ready, but he had to try. He had enough power to control three objects at the same time without relying on blue angel leaves, and he could fly at forty meters per second, but still wasn’t enough.

Leon started to fly at his top speed. He was flying one hundred meters above the ocean, but still, that wasn’t enough. Suddenly a massive megalodon jumped from the sea at a fearsome speed. Leon didn’t want to believe that thing could reach him, but it did. While sweating cold, he attacked the monster’s eyes with his spears while he maneuvered to avoid the impact. Despite his fears, he succeeded in doing both. Leon pulled his spears back, and the shark fell on the ocean while its eyes were bleeding, causing a massive splash.

However, Leon didn’t have time to celebrate. Two others jumped at the same time to attack him; once again, he succeeded in evading and attacking the monsters’ eyes. Since he attacked with his full power, he started to eat the blue angel leaves, but he stopped when he saw the two megalodons falling in the ocean, but he didn’t see the first one.

"What the..." Leon frowned.

Leon didn’t like that, so, without thinking twice, he decided to return to the island. Suddenly the other two megalodons came to attack him, and one of those two had blood in its face. Leon recognized that it was the one in which he attacked him first. At that point in time, Leon was wasting mana, he decided to fly higher to avoid their range, and the bastards finally gave up when Leon was flying two hundred meters above the ocean. However, Leon didn’t drop his guard. Instead of that, he hurried to go back to the island when he saw a massive flying monster approaching in the distance. It was a dragon.

Leon managed to escape, but that situation confirmed his suspicious once more… he wouldn’t be able to escape without killing those monsters.
