Chapter 29: Ino to Shino

Shino-san

I hope you relayed my thanks to your family for yet another wonderful gift. Please tell your dad that I am sorry that I have not made it over to see your place yet. I have been very busy and what little free time I have my parents are taking advantage of to get me to work in the flower shop and learn family things. I kept telling myself “Next week for sure!” and before I knew it a whole year had passed.

The new cactus is very nice. I want to learn about the medicines that it and the Princess of the Night help create. Do you think they will bloom on the same night next year? It was cool that she bloomed the night before my birthday. Is it weird I think of her as a she? Do you know why your family has so many rare plants? I asked my parents, but they didn’t really give me a straight answer. They’ve been doing that a lot lately. Does your dad ever answer-while-not-actually-answering?

I probably already told you, but I named my adopted kikaichu Hush. I don’t know if all kikaichu are as smart as Hush is, but he is very smart. Sometimes I chat with him when I am bored. He can only really say “yes” but I feel like he communicates other emotions through his body language. Observing body language is a Yamanaka thing. I probably sound crazy for trying to apply it to insects.

Have you been enjoying the winter festival? My favorite thing was watching Anko-sama spar with that ANBU. Isn’t she amazing? I hope she’s not in too much trouble for lighting the arena on fire. I thought it was awesome, but my parents didn’t look happy about it.

Looking forward to seeing you soon at school!
