Edward walked in front of Ingvar’s front door and waited without knocking. Just as he expected, the door opened and Ingvar walked out.
“How do you always do that?” asked Edward.
“Hehe, it’s a secret. Come in.” Said Ingvar and began turning around.
“Wait, I don’t plan on staying. I just wanted to let you know I was going to leave the city for a while so that I can take my adventurer rank promotion quest.”
“Oh, that’s fine then. How long will you be gone?”
“At most a month and a half. That’s the quest’s time limit, it will probably not take that long.”
“Alright. Let us know when you come back. We need to plan another dungeon expedition.”
“Sure. Say hi to Kara for me.” Said Edward as he turned around and started walking away.
Being done with informing Ingvar, he headed for Circe, informing her as well about the quest and reporting on learning a new spell. Done with Circe as well, he headed for Violet inn.
As he was walking towards it, he felt that things were becoming more and more awkward between him and Violet and, facing her was becoming quite difficult.
As Edward entered inside the inn, Violet saw him from behind the counter and a panicky expression appeared on her face for a brief moment. Edward noticed this but was just happy that she didn’t seem scared of him anymore.
Violet thought back at what happened after Edward came in the last time and her cheeks started turning red. Seeing Edward approaching her, she became quite skirmish, not being sure if Edward knew.
Edward did his best to ignore the blush on her face and the things Fenrir said to him.
“Hi, Violet. How are you?”
Violet nodded to indicate she was fine and said: “I’m sorry for running like that the last time… I was.. I’m not.. I didn’t” she kept trying to find a way to explain herself but what came out of her mouth was just a blubbering nonsense.
“It’s alright. I don’t mind it. I just wanted to give you some more coins to pay for my room in advance since I’ll be out of the city for a few weeks.” Said Edward as he took out a gold coin an placed it on the counter, not willing to make Violet feel any more awkward.
Violet blocked Edward’s hand that was about to place the coin on the counter and said: “No, I can’t accept. It’s too much. You already gave me a lot more money than you should…”. She then picked a gold coin from under the counter and pushed it towards Edward.
Edward placed his coin back on the counter despite her insistence and said: “It’s fine. I made quite a few gold coins in the dungeon. This should help you pay those bastards if they come back as well.” Said Edward, not mentioning he already killed them or that the money came from his master, Circe.
Violet shook her head and said: “No, that’s too much. I can’t take it.”
“Take it. Treat it as an apology for what happened last time.” Said Edward as he turned around and started heading towards the entrance.
Seeing him denying and trying to leave with a downcast look, Violet started feeling even more guilty for the way she acted. He had no reason to apologize and, the fact that he could turn into a wolf, while scary at first, was not a big deal for her who was a wolf demi-human herself. Opening the counter, she rushed up to him and grabbed one of his hands from the back.
Edward feeling his hand getting grabbed, turned around and looked at Violet, wondering what she wanted. Violet also rushed to him on instinct, but now that she grabbed his hand, she didn’t know what to say as well. Blushing slightly, she said softly: “Don’t leave looking so sad. I’m sorry I was so scared before…”
Edward shook his head and said: “I’m not sad. Everything is just a bit awkward…”
Violet hung her head and said: “Can we go back at how we were before? I don’t want us to be so awkward to each other…”
Edward was quite surprised by her words, feeling the same way himself, prompting him to nod and say: “I would like that as well.”
Violet smiled slightly and released his hand, but even if she said she didn’t want to be that awkward around him, she still didn’t know what to say next. Edward was in the same situation and, with a sigh, he said: “I’m going now. I’ll come back in a month or so. Take care, Violet.”
Seeing him turn around to leave, his back appearing just as lonely as before, Violet stood there unmoving until he got out of the inn, feeling a slight prickle in her chest. She didn’t want him to leave like that, but at the same time she didn’t know what to do or say.
Looking at the inn lobby, she ran up to the counter, locked the gold coins inside really quick and walked up to one of her long time customers there. The demi-human in question, seeing Violet approaching him, nodded towards her: “Go after him. I’ll look after the place for a while.”
“Thank you.” Whispered Violet as she rushed out the front door of the inn. Looking around and not seeing Edward anywhere, she started rushing towards the nearest gate, hoping to bump into him on the way.
As she reached the gate and didn’t meet Edward, she thought she might have missed him or he went another way, only to notice someone in the distance heading deep inside the forest. Without giving it a second thought, she rushed in the same direction. Her heart was beating wildly in her chest, a mix of anxiousness and excitement.

“It’s him. I know it.” Mumbled Violet as she used her enhanced sense of smell to follow through the forest. After five or so minutes of running through the dense forest, she stopped as she has finally reached him. Edward was in front of her, on top of a bluish-white wolf.
Edward turned to look at her, surprised, not knowing why exactly she followed after him. Minx also looked at the newcomer, a sense of hostility in her eyes.
Patting Minx’s back lightly to calm her down, he stepped down and started walking towards Violet.
“Violet, why are…” Edward was about to ask her why was she here when the wolf girl surprised him by hugging him with her soft lips pressing hard against his.
The intimate contact came completely unexpected, making Edward freeze on the spot, his mind in complete turmoil. Violet continued pressing her lips against his in an awkward kiss for a few seconds more before releasing his lips and blushing fiercely. Seeing Edward’s stunned expression, she got even more shy, all her courage she build on the way here evaporating, and her instinct to run away kicked in once more.
As she turned around and was about to sprint away, a strong arm grabbed one of her hands from behind. She tried to pull away, heartbeat increasing wildly, but the hand was too strong for her to break free.
“You’re not running away again..” Said Edward from behind her just as he pulled on her hand, bringing Violet back in his arms.
“Edward, I…” Violet wanted to explain but was forced to swallow her words as Edward’s lips covered hers once more. This time, Edward was not frozen like before and, wrapping his arms around her waist, he bent his head to one side as he slowly forced her lips open with his tongue.
Violet, having never kissed someone before her first awkward kiss with Edward, didn’t really know what was happening but allowed Edward to do as he pleased. Soon a small tongue entered her mouth, causing Violet’s eyes to snap open wide. Feeling the foreign intruder gently massage her own tongue, she followed it’s movement and the atmosphere slowly started heating up. Moving her arms around his neck, Violet started kissing him back as one of her arms grabbed hard on the tunic at his chest.
As both their heartbeats were about to spiral out of control and Edward started to move his hands towards the base of her tail, a cold breeze that appeared out of nowhere woke them both up from their passion.
As Violet shivered slightly, she broke the kiss and looked around, finding it quite strange for such a cold wind to appear on such a sunny day. As Edward saw her looking around, he turned his eyes towards Minx and, seeing her avoiding eye sight, sighed softly as he mumbled: “This minx..”
Violet, hearing Edward mumbling, she looked back at him and, blushing slightly, asked: “Did you say something?”
“Nothing.” Replied Edward as he moved one hand to caress one of the wolf girl’s cheeks and continued: “Thank you. That was lovely”
Violet blushed even fiercer and said: “I should go back.. I can’t leave the inn for too long..”
Edward nodded and released her from the hug as he said: “Alright. I also have to leave. I’ll pass by the inn as soon as I return.”
Violet grabbed one of his hands and said softly with her head lowered: “Take care…”
“You too.” Replied Edward as he used his thumb to caress the back of her hand gently.
Violet nodded and tip toed to steal one more quick kiss before rushing towards the city gate while blushing fiercely. Edward chuckled at her reaction and smiled as he turned to look at Minx: “Let’s go, Minx. We have a long way ahead of us.”
Violet was rushing through the forest, heart beating wildly in her chest and face as red as a tomato. As she was out of the forest, she sat down to catch her breath and brought her hand to her hips. Gently massaging them as her mind went back to the kiss she shared with Edward, she broke out into a splendid smile as the tail behind her started wiggling wildly and she giddily made her way back towards her inn.
After climbing on Minx’s back, the two of them went around the city and started heading towards the village of Narva in the far west where his quest was. As Edward was ridding on Minx’s back, he pat her head and asked: “Minx, what was that cold wind back there? Were you jealous on Violet?”
“Jealous? What is that?” Minx’s voice drifted in his ears, making Edward think for a while before saying: “I don’t know how to explain it. When you feel angry or unhappy thinking that someone might steal something from you?… Maybe.”
Minx turned her head to the side before saying: “Minx felt pain when Edward did that to Violet. I didn’t like the pain and wanted you to stop. Is Minx bad?”
Edward chuckled and said: “You’re not bad for feeling something you have no control over, but know that no matter what, you will always be special to me. You are my partner after all and we’ll always be together.”
“Minx will remember.”
Edward didn’t know if Minx really understood but he planned on slowly getting her to know Violet better when they returned from the quest. After being done circling around the city, a paved road appeared in front of him with a marker on the side.
<West: The spirit reach dungeon>
Edward thought back to the map Lara showed him and he remembered a dungeon being marked just above Narva village.
“I hope there is a road from the dungeon to the village. I guess I can also ask the people at the dungeon entrance if there’s none.” Mumbled Edward before asking Minx to follow the road ahead, towards Spirit Reach Dungeon. He didn’t know how long the journey will take, but was quite sure it would be faster than the guild estimated which will give him more time to investigate what’s happening inside the village.
