Chapter 127: Let Mr. Curator Touch You

Lin Jin’s actions were casual as if he had completely let his guard down.

Everyone now focused their attention on him, especially after witnessing how terrifying Madam Ghost Child was earlier. Not only were her attacks underhanded, but she wasn’t exactly what you could describe as ‘mentally sound’.

However, Madam Ghost Child displayed none of that deranged behavior. Right now, she seemed no different from a normal human being.

After parting the swaddle’s wraps, Lin Jin glanced inside, and under everyone’s watchful eyes, he reached inside the bundle.

Even Ye Yuzhou’s hair was standing on their ends as he watched the scene unfold.

It didn’t take a genius to figure out that the bundle’s contents wouldn’t be anything decent. If it were him, Ye Yuzhou would never even try to touch it.

However, not only did the curator place his hand inside the cloth wrap, but he even pinched that “thing” right in front of Madam Ghost Child.

Then, he could be heard saying, “He’s sleeping quite soundly, isn’t he? He didn’t even wake up after I pinched him.”

Lin Jin was standing close to Madam Ghost Child. Their faces were merely inches apart and when both of them exchanged glances, it was actually Madam Ghost Child who surrendered and averted her gaze first.

Her gaze shifted to the floor, hanging her head.

Lin Jin continued, “He’s probably just naughty and doesn’t want to sleep. If it’s still the same next time, bring him to me. I’ll help you coax him!”

Madam Ghost Child responded with a dry laugh, unable to hide the shock behind her eyes.

Upon seeing this, Ye Yuzhou and the others knew what was going on.

Madam Ghost Child definitely wasn’t harboring good intentions when she had the curator come close. However, she hadn’t expected that thing in her arms to chicken out when faced with the curator, to the point of being too intimidated to fight back.

They had seen how the curator pinched it earlier, and there was quite some force in his pinch too.

This reflected how incredible the curator was.

Genuinely curious about the Visitation Hall, Ye Yuzhou studied the other visitors carefully and he came to the conclusion that none of these people were easy game.

The weakest pet beast here was at least Rank 3. That man clad in black clothing with a crow perched on his shoulder gave off a dangerous feeling and that kind of murderous aura wasn’t something any expert could cultivate.

That crow, in particular, seemed fairly average. But from the messages Ye Yuzhou’s ‘soaring cloud flood dragon’ conveyed, he realized that the most terrifying existence in this Visitation Hall was the ‘baby’ in the bundle, followed surprisingly by that crow.

Seeing as both those pet beasts could unsettle his soaring cloud flood dragon this much, they must be at least Rank 4.

Rank 4 pet beasts were a rare sight. Some smaller countries didn’t even have a single Rank 4 pet beast to protect their lands. But now, inside this tiny hall, there were actually three Rank 4 pet beasts.

For this reason, Ye Yuzhou now held the ‘curator’ in much higher regard.

Basing solely on the man’s aura, Ye Yuzhou could confirm that this curator was the most powerful expert he had ever met.

Lin Jin then approached the tyrannosaurus geezer with the tyrannosaurus.

Since he was already down here, he might as well check out his new visitors’ pet beasts.

Right, Lin Jin was quite startled when he examined the ‘baby’ just now. But since he was wearing a mask, the people here weren’t able to sense his reaction.

It wasn’t a ‘baby’ at all, but a ‘babyface spider’ the size of an infant child.

This name was given by the Museum of Deadly Beasts. The back of a ‘babyface spider’ looked exactly like a little human child with complete features.

Granted that Lin Jin was extremely knowledgeable, this was his first time meeting such a ‘harrowing’ pet beast.

What’s worse was how the babyface spider’s legs looked like tiny little human hands but covered in a coat of white fur. Without looking closely, some might even mistake this creature to be a deformed infant.

In addition to that, this ugly spider was actually a Rank 5-to-be pet beast, and this was what shocked Lin Jin the most.

A Rank 5-to-be beast was above your average Rank 4 beast, but not quite a Rank 5 yet.

After studying the creature’s description carefully, what Lin Jin can conclude from the museum’s description was that this spider used to be a Rank 5 pet beast. However, due to a severe injury, its rank dropped, resulting in it being stuck in its current half-baked state.

In other words, despite its frightening demeanor, it was actually very pitiful. Under normal circumstances, these injuries would even be deemed incurable.

Emphasis, ‘normal’ circumstances. If Lin Jin was willing to treat it, it could still recover.

Lin Jin arrived before the tyrannosaurus geezer. The latter seemed incredibly uncomfortable like he was terrified but still had to feign bravery just to save his dignity.

Lin Jin wasn’t that interested in the old man as he was here to record his pet beast instead.

His hand reached for the tyrannosaurus’ head.

However, something surprising happened.

This dinosaur who was already backed up against the wall as it trembled in fear, suddenly rolled its eyes back before passing out onto the ground.

Lin Jin was dumbstruck.

‘Am I that frightening?’

After a second thought, he realized how the pet beasts in this round were looking at him differently. Even the tetrawinged butterfly dragon and black falcon were cowering in fear, visibly afraid.

They didn’t behave this way the last time he was here.

Lin Jin figured something must be different this time compared to the last time.

‘The mask?’ After a long period of contemplation, Lin Jin finally came to a realization.

The last time, he wasn’t wearing a mask and what everyone saw back then was just a ball of fog.

This time, he decided to go with the fire god’s mask the Visitation Hall had specially prepared for its curator, causing the pet beasts here to behave this way.

In other words, the mask prepared by the Visitation Hall not only served to conceal his face, but it also had the deterrent ability to frighten pet beasts.

Glancing at the fainted tyrannosaurus, Lin Jin patted it before turning to the stiffened old man and said, “Jab his Support Spirit point later and he’ll wake up. This point right here.”

Lin Jin pointed to a spot on the beast before getting up and making his way to Ye Yuzhou.

Ye Yuzhou’s pet beast was visibly distressed.

Ye Yuzhou had seen what happened earlier so it goes without saying how astonished he was. As he watched the curator make his way over, the prominent expert whose blood contract was at the eighth realm and had a Rank 4 pet beast actually felt flustered.

Indeed, the curator’s creepy mask with the burning flames was quite unnerving.

He was currently contemplating whether or not he should stop the man.

From what he saw earlier, this mysterious curator’s abilities were unbelievable. A Rank 4 pet beast would actually cower before him like a little chicken, and now, Ye Yuzhou could almost taste the fear of his soaring cloud flood dragon in the atmosphere.

Though, even if Ye Yuzhou wanted to resist, he might not be capable of putting up a fight.

Also, this ‘curator’ didn’t seem to bear any ill-will toward him.

He was only touching pet beasts here and there, nothing more. So if Ye Yuzhou resisted him, he would be practically asking for trouble.

And so, Ye Yuzhou thought it through. He turned to whisper to his pet beast, saying, “It’s alright. Relax. Behave and let Mr. Curator touch you later, okay?”
