Chapter 251: Joining the Fray

Old Hu was enjoying another peaceful day.

But just now, a bolt of lightning thundered in this bright weather, startling him.

“It’s such a nice day outside, why is there lightning?” Old Hu mumbled as he looked up to the sky. He saw no dark clouds.

What puzzled Old Hu, even more, was how the four odd customers immediately stood up.

The scholar said, “Lightning during bright weather is definitely strange. Should we go and take a look?”

One of them answered, “Curator says to wait here. Scholar, don’t be nosy.”

“I beg to differ!” the scholar retorted. “I say, Old Black, think about it. If Curator’s disciple never shows up, do we keep waiting? There’s a saying that ‘plans always fall behind changes’. If something happened, we can’t just sit around and keep waiting.”

At this, the man called ‘Old Black’ seemed to thought it was reasonable too.

Then, the beautiful woman spoke, “Scholar’s right. Why don’t we split up into two groups? One will stay here and wait for Curator’s disciple while the other go and see what’s going on.”

“That’s a good idea!” Old Black nodded.

Scholar was the first to offer, “I’ll go!”

He was sure Coffin Man wouldn’t go. If he stayed, that would mean waiting alone with Coffin Man. That last experience had been terrifying enough so Scholar refused to experience it a second time.

“I’ll go too.” Black Crow could tell what Scholar was thinking. Now that he had dragged Evil Scholar all the way to Jade Dragon Kingdom, he had to stop letting the man suffer.

That beautiful woman was obviously Madam Ghost Child. She nodded in agreement.

Meanwhile, Coffin Man never spoke.

And so, Evil Scholar and Black Crow left, heading for the direction where the lightning struck.

Four of them had arrived since yesterday. After asking around, they located Hu Tea House and stayed together to wait.

Once outside, Scholar and Black Crow immediately cast a spell that enabled them to leap easily from rooftop to rooftop. Evil Scholar had also used some kind of spell to conceal their presence so the people below couldn’t see them.

“Old Black, do you think I’ll be able to meet Curator this time?” Scholar asked expectantly.

He had heard too much about the curator from Black Crow that made him giddy with excitement. Hence, Evil Scholar never hesitated when he was asked to come along to Jade Dragon Kingdom.

“I can’t guarantee that. Maybe you can’t.” Black Crow was being reserved. “After all, the person who will be receiving us is his disciple.”

“His disciple works too. I heard the curator’s disciple is quite the expert as well. I wonder if he can give me some pointers on how to evolve my white cat.” Evil Scholar looked hopeful.

Both of them moved swiftly and after a few exchanges, they arrived.

They were just in time to see the gory scene of a ten feet tall blood bat sucking a cow dry.

“Yo, isn’t that the b*tchy Blood Bat?” Evil Scholar commented.

As villainous experts, most of them had met before. Those who haven’t at least heard of each other’s names. An expert like Blood Bat, in particular, was ranked just below Black Crow, making her famous. This large blood bat pet beast was her signature.

Black Crow didn’t say anything. He glanced at Blood Bat and Python Monk before shifting his gaze to the yard where a fire wolf was being strangled by a Rank 4 jade dragon, frowning immediately.

‘Old Ye mentioned that Curator’s disciple owns a Rank 4 fire wolf. Fire wolves with high potential are scarce and a Rank 4 is even more so rare. Could this fire wolf belong to Curator’s disciple?’ An assumption immediately came to Black Crow’s mind.

Regardless, there was a possibility.

At this, Black Crow scoffed.

It wasn’t loud, but it was clear enough. Python Monk and Blood Bat immediately noticed and turned over, their expressions faltering.

Blood Bat quickly called her pet beast back and stopped attacking that old Taoist.

Because comparatively speaking, Black Crow and Evil Scholar’s appearance unnerved her even more so that the old Taoist didn’t matter anymore.

After all, she had no idea why they were here.

Inside the villainous community, Black Crow was known to rank above Python Monk and Blood Bat, though the difference between them wasn’t huge. Meanwhile, Evil Scholar wasn’t ranked at all since his pet beast was only Rank 3.

However, Evil Scholar was just as famous.

The situation immediately became ambiguous. Python Monk and Blood Bat were staring at Black Crow while Black Crow stared back. Evil Scholar was studying this strange scene, wondering if the legendary curator was around.

He immediately noticed the somewhat battered old Taoist whose head was bleeding.

This person was far from the legendary expert he imagined.

So that was definitely not the one.

But there was no one else around.

Finally, someone broke this brief silence. Blood Bat giggled coquettishly. “Is there a celebration today? To think so many villainous experts have suddenly gathered here. Black Crow, what’s a great expert like you doing here? Why don’t you tell us first?”

Seemingly indifferent, Blood Bat was currently on guard. She had to clarify Black Crow’s intention, whether he was a friend or foe. Or was it pure coincidence that he showed up here.

As Blood Bat spoke, Python Monk looked just as cautious. He was clearly ready to make a move should there be any sudden accidents.

With him and Blood Bat together, they had a better chance at defeating Evil Scholar and Black Crow’s team.

Or should he say, they had a ninety percent chance of winning.

Hence, they were just wary, but not enough to be afraid.

This was not a question for Evil Scholar so he turned to Black Crow, waiting to see what his friend would say.

Although Evil Scholar wasn’t very strong and his pet beast was only Rank 3, he wasn’t afraid. Not at all. Because he and Black Crow weren’t alone in the city. They had even more terrifying allies like Madam Ghost Child and Coffin Man.

Black Crow smirked and pointed to the fire wolf. “This fire wolf is not yours to take.”

His position was easily clarified.

However, Blood Bat and Python Monk immediately turned hostile.

“You’re here for trouble after all.”

“Whoever strikes first gets the upper hand!”

Blood Bat and Python Monk exchanged glances before initiating attacks.

The blood bat darted toward Black Crow while Python Monk shouted, “Mr. Yu, if you don’t help us, we won’t be able to hold out much longer.”

Right after he said that a few more jade dragons came flying over. However, they weren’t Rank 4 but Rank 3.

Yet, even at Rank 3, these creatures were clearly useful in such a situation.

Evil Scholar was instantly subdued while the black falcon engaged the blood bat in a ferocious battle.

“End things quickly lest delays cause complications!” A man leaped over from a distance and stopped right beside Blood Bat and Python Monk. This man was wearing a cape and tall hat, covering his appearance. He was obviously responsible for controlling the jade dragon into binding Xiao Huo.

In addition, he was holding onto a signal flag. With a shake, the several Rank 3 jade dragons besieging Evil Scholar grew increasingly vicious, putting Scholar in a terrible situation.

“This is outrageous!” Evil Scholar wore a murderous expression. When pushed into a corner, a man could do anything. Moreover, the ‘evil’ in Evil Scholar’s nickname wasn’t just a decoration.

His white cat grew larger at once, lashing out left and right. Evil Scholar took out a silver hook and cooperated with his white cat to counter the incoming jade dragons. With every opportunity they get, it was a beast-slaying fest filled with nothing but madness.
