Chapter 340: Mysterious Woman in Despair

It was Lin Jin’s first time witnessing such emotions from the visitors of the Visitation Hall.

The others had either been arrogant, wary, conceited, or even pretentious. This woman stood out like a sore thumb from the majority.

If Lin Jin could describe her with a popular phrase from his past life, this was a woman with a story.

Though, Lin Jin decided that he wouldn’t ask her why she was in such despair. She could seek his guidance but the Visitation Hall wasn’t a counseling room.

“If you don’t have any questions, let’s proceed with the common rules here. I’ll touch your pet beasts and that will be all for today,” Lin Jin said.

The procedure of touching pet beasts was something Lin Jin had set after Ye Yuzhou’s batch.

Lin Jin felt that there was a need for certain ground rules for this place to continue operating.

By doing this, he could archive data on new pet beasts and also establish his dominance here by way of demonstrating his capability. This was exactly how he got Ghost Child to surrender in the past.

Upon hearing his words, He Qing and the others looked excited. They were most fond of this stage, and they were curious as to what new pet beasts they were going to meet this time.

Individuals like Ye Yuzhou and Ghost Child who possessed profound cultivation and significant knowledge could tell that Feng Ziqian had practiced the Beastmaster Scroll, a trick that allowed him to merge with his pet beast.

If they could tell that much, Curator was surely aware of this too.

However, visitor number twelve was different.

No matter how they saw it, she didn’t have a pet beast with her nor did she emit the aura of a person who practiced the Beastmaster Scroll. She probably didn’t even have a companion beast.

And yet, Curator had mentioned ‘your pet beasts’. Clearly, he was speaking to both of them.

“Old Ye, do you think that woman has a pet beast?” Black Crow asked quietly, feeling confused. Ye Yuzhou shook his head. “I can’t tell. I can’t sense anything from her too so my guess is that she doesn’t have one. Though, it’s also possible that she has some unique spell up her sleeve. Why don’t we ask Ghost Child? She’s much more informed than I am.”

The two turned to Ghost Child who seemed fairly hesitant to speak. Finally, she shook her head. Looks like she couldn’t tell either.

“Let’s just watch. We may not be able to tell but Curator definitely can.”

Everyone agreed with this statement.

Indeed, after several incidents, at least when it came to pet beasts, Curator was invincible.

By now, Lin Jin was making his way over to the two.

For some reason, as he watched the masked man approach him, Feng Ziqian felt his heart rate increase as a wave of oppression overwhelmed him.

When he felt nervous, his pet beast would start panicking too.

Light streamed from his back as fiery red energy gradually emerged, forming what looked like trails of fire. The temperature around them rose sharply.

‘A rare beast that is truly one in a million.’ Lin Jin’s eyes narrowed. He wouldn’t be able to casually touch a beast this unusual in the outside world but here, Lin Jin had no fear of pet beasts.

Forget this one, even if that horrifying beast from the Nine-Heaven Realm appeared in the Visitation Hall, Lin Jin would have the audacity to pluck its feather.

Hence, he strode over without stopping.

By now, the five fire tails on Feng Ziqian’s back were plain in sight and half of his pet beast’s body emerged.

Upon making its appearance, the creature unleashed a might befitting a Rank 4 beast.

Feng Ziqian knew how powerful his pet beast was. Even in his kingdom, his companion was considered extremely rare. He was a prince after all so he was never short of resources.

In the past, Feng Ziqian never feared solo duels because his companion was always strong enough to guarantee his victory.

However, it was at this instant that he lost all confidence.

The oppression he received from this man, who called himself ‘Curator’, was unimaginable. Feng Ziqian had never felt this frightened even when facing the experts in his country who owned Rank 5 pet beasts.

Feng Ziqian knew it wasn’t just him. Even his pet beast was just as scared.

‘If that guy comes over later, how should I react? Do I fight, or do I run?’ Feng Ziqian was conflicted. Despite his display of overwhelming strength, he was actually apprehensive.

Beads of sweat formed on his forehead.

Feng Ziqian was hesitant but his pet beast was much more decisive. The creature separated from its owner to reveal itself as a strange leopard about the size of two bulls and with five tails.

It had white eyebrows and its roar sounded like shattering rocks; it was ear-splittingly loud. A horn protruded from the pet beast’s forehead and judging by virtue of its appearance, one could conclude that it was a rare beast.

Five of its tails were burning with bright flames, making it obvious it was of the fire attribute. Mighty as it was, the creature’s aura surpassed even Ye Yuzhou, Black Crow, and Ghost Child’s pet beasts. Even the mutant devilosaurus was unnerved.

“What a powerful rare beast!” Lin Jin exclaimed as he extended his hand to touch it.

Before Lin Jin could make contract with it, the rare beast had lowered its head. It bared its fangs out of nervousness, and it kept on trembling.

However, the instant Lin Jin’s hand came in contact with its head, the rare beast gradually calmed down.

It was instantly comforted.

Feng Ziqian’s emotions steadied as well.

After all, by merging through the practice of the Beastmaster Scroll, both owner and pet beast could influence each other.

This scene was nothing but ordinary to Ye Yuzhou and the others. However, to Feng Ziqian and visitor number twelve, it was rather ‘scary’.

Although Feng Ziqian had calmed down, his anxiousness now turned into astonishment.

No one knew his pet beast better than he did and he could declare with certainty that no Rank 4 beast appraiser in his home country could ever pull off such a feat and walk away unscathed.

Even the scarce few Rank 5 beast appraisers in Heavenly Spiral probably couldn’t do it either.

But this masked man did it.

Who was he?

Nonetheless, Feng Ziqian now confirmed that this wasn’t a prank by his brothers. The reason for his conclusion was simple. No prince in the Heavenly Spiral Kingdom could obtain an ‘appraisal expert’ that was capable of taming his pet beast.

His pet beast didn’t even struggle in resistance.

And that was the scariest part.

Feng Ziqian was now aware that this ‘Curator’ was at least a Rank 4, no, a Rank 5 beast appraiser.

Even in a premium country such as the Heavenly Spiral Kingdom, only a handful of people manage to achieve the standard of a Rank 5 beast appraiser. More importantly, those who did were highly respected by princes such as Feng Ziqian himself because Rank 5 beast appraisers basically owned Rank 5 pet beasts too.

There were also rumors that certain Rank 5 beast appraisers owned Rank 6 pet beasts.

‘Could this ‘Curator’ be a Rank 5 beast appraiser too?’ A thought surfaced in Feng Ziqian’s mind.
