Lin Jin never expected this Unending Nature Landscape to have a painting of the immortal emperor.
The immortal emperor looked just as furious as the others, as if mere ants had struck a raw nerve in him. He would use his immortal powers to punish those who had the audacity to offend him.
The next instant, the raging golden-armored immortals charged at Lin Jin, holding magic treasures in their hands.
Xiao Huo was too occupied with the other immortals, unable to help. So Lin Jin had to step up and share the load.
He may not be an immortal, but he had the abilities of one.
“Clear Wind Sword!” Lin Jin called.
The sword in his grasp unsheathed itself, turned into a dazzling stream of light, and flew toward the golden-armored immortals.
Immortal aura overflowed from the shining sword light and it managed to fend off the attacks of these golden-armored immortals.
Lin Jin stopped looking at the immortal emperor and his officials. The main thing here was to not provoke the other. He even had to show some signs of weakness, hoping it could numb the enemy in order to buy them more time. At least until Shu Xiaolou took control over the painting realm’s core.
Admittedly, Lin Jin’s strategy worked at first.
The enemy stopped increasing his armies. Although Lin Jin and Xiao Huo had close calls, they managed to hold it out and bought a lot of time. Lin Jin was quite satisfied.
It was when Lin Jin was musing, ‘These immortals and beasts are all just drawings. Of course they’re not that clever.’ Suddenly, the immortal emperor scoffed.
Then, more immortals appeared and swarmed over.
“Oh no!” Lin Jin hurriedly activated the Four Ocean Gourd. A massive amount of water gushed out as if a tsunami was suddenly flooding upward into the sky.
These waves were powerful enough to wash away the huge swarm of immortal troops. Although it was impossible to kill them with this, it could buy Lin Jin’s side some more time.
Lin Jin was going all out, using every skill he could afford to use. When stronger immortals got close, he simply unleashed the blood ghost with ghost worms in it onto the enemies.
These immortals may not be real, but they were painting spirits with an immortal aura. And since they were spirits, the spirit devouring ghost worms would work on them.
No matter how strong the immortal soldier was, they couldn’t fend off the ghost worms, and this discovery gave Lin Jin more confidence. He had thought he wouldn’t be able to hold out much longer, but now, it seemed like he could still go on.
The immortal officials would be the same, not varying much in strength as the soldiers. The blood ghost and ghost worms could handle them for now. So long as the immortal emperor didn’t descend from the highest level of the skies, Lin Jin felt he could keep this up.
Wishes were great, but reality was cruel.
After seeing how his immortal soldiers couldn’t eliminate the enemy, the immortal emperor finally got too furious. He wanted to take matters into his own hands.
Lin Jin knew the Nine-Heaven Realm in this painting wasn’t real, so these immortal soldiers weren’t either. Their strength couldn’t compare to their actual counterparts.
Otherwise, Lin Jin wouldn’t be able to fight them off no matter how strong he was.
Just one slightly stronger immortal soldier could have beat him up easily. So Lin Jin had to admit, this act of annihilating large armies and ‘wreaking havoc in heaven’ felt rather nice.
However, this pleasant feeling quickly dispersed the instant the immortal emperor took action.
The immortal emperor was definitely a fake too. Still, it was a painting spirit that contained a trace of the real immortal emperor’s aura. The other immortal soldiers were probably at half-immortal strength at most, but the immortal emperor had the strength exceeding average profound immortals.
It might even be at an unfettered immortal level.

And this was only a painting spirit with a trace of the immortal emperor’s aura. If the actual immortal emperor descended, Lin Jin would have been a goner with just a sneeze from him.
The immortal emperor pressed his palm down and a hand came crashing down from the nine skies. Layer by layer, it felt as if the sky was falling down.
Even in a far distance, Lin Jin could already feel the weight of a mountain holding him down, rendering him immobile.
“This is too much!” Lin Jin struggled to move his body but to no avail. The difference in their strength was too overwhelming. When faced with the immortal emperor, even if he was just a fake, Lin Jin couldn’t withstand even one move from him.
No doubt, when that large hand actually reached him, Lin Jin would be a goner.
Maybe the blood ghost could keep him alive, but it was just a probability.
At that moment, Lin Jin actually felt no fear. If he had to name a feeling, it was reluctance. Now that he was capable of fighting profound immortals, he didn’t expect to not even be able to retaliate against a fake immortal emperor, not even once.
To think their difference in strength was so massive.
Shu Xiaolou surely couldn’t dominate the painting realm in time, and judging from the size of the immortal emperor’s palm, she would get caught in it as well.
Lin Jin closed his eyes.
He couldn’t move at all. Not only him, but Xiao Huo was stuck as well. The same went for the blood ghost and ghost worms.
The Clear Wind Sword had fallen down from the pressure, its light faded away.
The only thing that was buzzing was the Four Ocean Gourd. But it could only move that much.
In other words, Lin Jin was out of options. The only thing he could choose right now was to die with his eyes opened or closed, and he chose the latter.
Perhaps closing his eyes would make everything feel better.
However, he suddenly felt a hand reach over his waist to pluck down the Four Ocean Gourd.
“Shu Xiaolou?” Lin Jin’s eyes shot open to look. In his opinion, he and Shu Xiaolou were the only ones here, so it couldn’t be anyone else but her.
Only, his eyes almost popped the instant he turned.
Standing right beside him was a black shadow.
With long hair and a flowing dress, she had no appearance. She was just a shadow that could walk on its own.
Lin Jin immediately recognized this shadow to be his own. No, it was his shadow after transformation. And now, this shadow was holding the Four Ocean Gourd. She gave him a nod before lifting a finger.
A loud burst came from the Four Ocean Gourd and an ice blade shot up into the sky.
This ice blade shot up a thousand feet, easily piercing through the palm the immortal emperor that had slammed down from the highest heaven. Elegance and peerless force were the ice blade’s striking characteristics.
Only, this spell’s casting speed was too fast. Lin Jin may not be a profound spellcaster but he knew the basic knowledge and mechanisms behind it. Those who could perform such a spell with such speed had to be at least profound immortal level.
Actual profound immortals may not even perform it so smoothly.
But Lin Jin didn’t have time to be impressed. One thought had occupied his mind and it wasn’t the shadow’s identity, but how she had managed to use the Four Ocean Gourd instead.
This magic treasure belonged to Lin Jin and he had been refining it as his own all this while.
Magic treasures recognized their owners so not everyone could use it. It didn’t matter who the shadow was. Even if she had a cultivation level above the immortal emperor’s, she shouldn’t be able to use it.
Unless she was the original craftsman of the Four Ocean Gourd.
