Chapter 61- Twisted Fate
***
Fwish!
Sokka's spear cut through the air, creating a whip-like sound as the space in front of him seemed to crackle. He was in the Royal Fire Nation ship that Azula resided in.
**
Some people were looking at him as he trained, and while he wasn't bothered by them. It was quite annoying since he couldn't train other skills here. But he was waiting for Azula's order.
It won't take long for her to notice that having him on the ship is just wasting his potential. Sokka initially wanted to have her give him an order to go and spy somewhere, but he wondered if he had assumed her intelligence too much. After all, keeping a spy close to you is like having a brick of gold that you never cash out. It's useless.

Azula on the deck of the ship was also training, as lightning crackled around her.
Booom!!
Lighting kept shooting to the sky, as she tried to manipulate the Chi around her to make lightning move in an ark. That way, anyone who touched her would be zapped.
In her mind, she was fighting against an imaginary enemy with a spear. That was Kuzon, he truly showed her a new world of fighting in their short spar. Sometimes, some people would be able to dodge her fire. Earth and Waterbending were also very effective as a defense against firebending, but that would be easily offset by lightning. She needed to be able to summon lightning at her fingertips with only a thought.
Crackle!
Her hair seemed to defy gravity as she moved through her moves, and the Chi in her bot clashed into positive and negative. Lighting was called cold-blooded fire, and it required someone to have extreme control of their emotions, mind, and body.
Ty Lee looked on from the sidelines and smiled, Mai who was next to the gymnastic girl looked at her strangely.
"Azula is special," said Ty Lee. "How many people do you think can use lightning like that? I doubt even the Fire Lord can."
Mai's eyes sharpened. "Don't say such things out loud. If anyone hears it, Azula will be the one to execute you."
Ty Lee pouted, clearly unconvinced. "But it's the truth. Her talent is amazing, and she is still at an age where she can experience the best growth. The Fire Lord has already peaked."
This annoyed Mai, she might agree with that, but it wasn't something she wanted to be said out loud. To anyone else, it would seem like they were mocking the Fire Lord.
"I agree with that," suddenly another voice got in the conversation. Ty Lee almost jumped once she heard it. Her instincts were quite good, and she could sense when someone was close. But Sokka had sneaked right behind her, as he kept gazing at Azula with a smile on his face. "Her talent is undeniable, and she could be the greatest firebender in the last thousand years. Of course, excluding the Avatar."
Jumping down from where they were standing, Sokka casually landed on the ground where Azula was training. She was in a trance, practicing her lighting rigorously and trying to shoot it out in an arc.
Sokka wasn't worried as he walked out, and casually pulled out a knife made of metal from his pocket. "You can try throwing some lightning at me. I will show you another weakness that lightning has."
Even through the crackling Azula heard him, and while it would be dangerous to be close to her while she was throwing around lightning bolts. If it was anyone else, they would have panicked and lost control of the lightning, either harming themselves or the person close to them.
But Azula wasn't normal, so she casually did the perfect stance, stopping the lightning cracking around her and throwing it at the sky.
Booom!!
Sokka was amazed by it. Lightning was a very strong force, a feat of firebending that could make them the strongest out there. It was up there with blood or lava bending.
"You know, if you are suicidal, I don't think dying by electrocution is the best way to go." Azula joked, knowing that he could have stood next to her while she did that, and the lightning would have never gone out of her control.
Sokka nodded, thinking about how to bring up the subject of having him 'work' somewhere. He needed a reason to get out of here. "Nah, I have been a little bored on this ship and have come up with an idea. Why don't you try shooting some lightning at me?"
Without an ounce of hesitation, lightning crackled at Azula's fingertips and she shot it out.
Sokka narrowed his eyes at the projectile and was able to tell that he wouldn't be able to dodge it at such a close-range one the lightning bolt was already thrown. Still, he twirled the knife in his hand and threw it, having it land in the lightning bolt's way.
*Crackle!*

The lightning hit the shop deck below them, the sky above, and everywhere in the surroundings, except Sokka. This was due to the knife stopping the bolt of electricity midway.
Mai looked at it from afar, surprised at how effective it was. "I had thought of something similar before. But the resident lightning could still hit you. So it's a technique based on Luck. Not an effective one."
Though she said that, Mai couldn't help but wonder if Kuzon did something different than her. Because it seemed like no matter what, the scattered lightning bolts weren't hitting him.
"Azula, I don't think that I am any good here. Doing nothing. Every time we arrive at the Avatar's destination, he is already gone by the time we get there," Sokka made sure his explanation was on point, and tried to express that his abilities were more useful elsewhere.
He wanted something from Azula, but if he told her what he wanted, that would make him suspicious and his efforts ineffective. This was all in an effort so Azula wouldn't catch on to what he was up to these days.
"Then, do you think you would be able to catch the Avatar?"
"No, but I have noticed that you were preoccupied with something else and we have never chased him on land. Something is happening, and I don't know about it."
Azula smirked, but in the inside was a little unsure. "Then I will use you. Though you might die."
"It doesn't matter," Sokka smirked in return. "Let's just give it our all, it isn't like there is someone to grieve for me."
He had said that, to give a reason why he was 'fearless' he wouldn't want her to start getting suspicious.
"I will be sad if you die. So please make sure to come back. You are my precious spy, after all." After saying that, Azula pulled out a small piece of paper and handed it to him. Making sure that no one else saw the contents. "Do whatever you need to help me in any way. I trust your judgment."
With that, she walked off to rest and get something to eat. Sokka opened the piece of paper and saw that it was orders from the Fire Lord to take over the Northern Water Tribe.
This made Sokka chuckle. With Azula acting this way, it meant she didn't trust all of the people on the ship. Was there a spy? She seemed to have become more cautious lately. Maybe the Fire Nation wasn't as united as it appeared to the world.
'I can use that.'
Sokka then looked at an island close by and jumped off the ship. Azula yelled something at him, but he didn't hear it as he was already underwater and swimming like a fish towards the island.
He equipped some new shoes that looked as if they were made of alligator skin and clicked them. Teleporting away with a flash. Teleportation was a convenient ability to use, though the nausea that came with it is just as worse.

Azula gazed at the water and sighed. He was now deep underwater and unseen by the normal eye. "Why does he always jump off the ship?"
Mai and Ty Lee shrugged. The last time he had gone on a vacation he had also jumped off the ship when he could have taken a small boat at least.

In the Spirit World, Sokka was atop one of the mountains where he had fought the Nemean Lion. Taking out a book from his pocket, which was too big to fit in his pockets, he started reading.
"Hmmm~ there aren't a lot of Spirits out there that suit my vision," he complained.
Fwish!
Suddenly, a sword burst out of his stomach and he looked down. His eyes widened. "What?"
Sense Danger hadn't even reacted. Before Sokka even knew it he had been attacked.
[You are Poisoned]
[You have been affected by Bleeding]
[Your wounds have become cursed]
[Due to an unknown curse, your wounds are unable to heal]
A long-bearded man, twice the size of a normal human with a white blindfold over his eyes stood here. With his hand on the sword that had pierced Sokka. "Are you the one who has been changing fate? Manipulation of fate like that isn't something that can be done so care-freely, young man."
