Chapter 224: Let’s Visit all of the Mansions

Let’s Visit all of the Mansions

Once we were finished casting the magic, we decided to head to the next mansion.

“Were it any other time, we would have liked to stay longer…”

“Yes, please do come again during a time of peace.”

“Of course. Thank you.”

We all got on Kathe’s back and then she slowly rose into the air.

The children all waved frantically as we left.

“Miss Kathe! Please come again!”

“Mister Locke. Thank you!”

“Gahahaha! Yes. I might just drop by again!”

“Stay safe!”

“Groof-groof!”

And so we headed for the next mansion.

There were 12 mansions in all for the chiefs.

As we had already done 2, that meant there were 10 left. We had to hurry.

“The next one is over there.”

“Understood!”

Shia gave the directions. Once again, we arrived in no time.

And we were greeted warmly once again.

I said to the others,

“We’re doing the same thing. So let’s do it quickly.”

“Understood!”

“Leave it to me.”

Shia and Serulis were excited to work.

“I’ll do my best!”

“Yes, don’t worry.”

“I will wait outside.”

“Groof-groof!”

Nia and Luchila were also enthusiastic. Kathe and Grulf looked the same as usual.

I inspected the interiors of the mansion and then installed the magic device. Once that was done, it was on to reinforcing the walls.

You couldn’t do it the other way around, because it would affect the magic.

And so Kathe waited outside and played with the children.

She ended up being quite popular here as well. But that was no surprise, because dragons always looked cool.

“It finished a lot faster this time.”

“It’s because everyone knows what to do now.”

When we were finished, Kathe joined us to reinforce the walls and roof.

As we had done it before, we were able to do it at an increased speed.

We finished up and headed for the next mansion.

“I hope we can go to all of them within the day.”

“Indeed. But do you think it is realistic?”

“It might be since we are getting faster.”

“I’ll try my best as well!”

We continued to go to more mansions to install the devices and reinforce the walls.

In order to make the most of the time we had while in flight, I cast magic on Shia, Nia, and Serulis’s swords.

Of course, Shia and Serulis’s swords were already magical.

It was difficult to add magic over it, so it was just a temporary enchantment that would last 1 day.

“It’s temporary. When we have time, I’ll have Kathe and Mors help do it properly.”

At least for now, they would be able to cut wraiths with their swords.

“Thank you so much!”

“Now I can fight! I’m so happy!”

“I will try!”

They seemed like they were ready. I was sure that they would put up a good fight against any dark wraith.

When the sun was half-hidden by the horizon.

“There is just one more to go!”

“It seems like we’ll barely finish it all today.”

“We couldn’t finish it before the sun went down, but this is still an impressive speed.”

Luchila looked quite tired.

She had been with me as an assistant the whole time, and we cast Magic Search and Magic Exploration together.

On top of that, we had also installed the magic tools and reinforced the walls together. So it was no wonder that she was tired.

“Luchila. Are you tired?”

“Just a little. But I am fine!”

“Cluck-cluck!”

Lord Gerberga was perched on Luchila’s shoulder. It seemed that he was also fine.

Using magic helped you grow. And she had watched me and Kathe use lots of magic.

So Luchila would have learned a lot.

Kathe continued to fly even as we talked.

This last settlement was a little farther away than the others.

“This one really is quite far.”

“It is. It is because it is the newest out of the 12 tribes.”

There were only so many places that were fit to make a settlement. And all of the best places that were close by had been taken.

So the newer tribes had to move further out.

“I can see it now.”

Still, Kathe’s wings meant it wasn’t too long of a journey. Here, we were again received very warmly.

It was quite dark now that the sun was setting, but the beastkin wolves didn’t seem to mind at all.

They were able to see in the dark.

“Mister Locke. Miss Kathe. Thank you all for coming.”

The person who greeted us was the youngest of the chiefs.

“We’re terribly sorry to bother you so late.”

“Oh, no! I never dreamed you would visit us so soon. I expected you to be here by midnight at the earliest.”

“That’s good to hear. Well, time is of the essence. Do you mind if we get to work?”

“Not at all. Thank you.”

And then I said to the others,

“This is the last one. Let’s do it properly.”

“Yes!”

“Yes!”

“Yes!”

“Leave it to me!”

“Groof!”

“Cluck-cluck!”

And so we got to work. As this was our 12th time doing it, we were very familiar with what to do.

We finished inspecting the mansion and moved on to the installation.

Partway into it, Danton contacted me through my bracelet.

‘Locke, I’m sorry to bother you when you’re so busy.’

“What is it?”

‘Well, I thought that I should tell you that there was a dark wraith attack shortly after sundown.’

Danton said very calmly.
