Chapter 281: Third Arc (Fallen Heart) – 46. Weird Dating Place I

Third Arc (Fallen Heart) - 46. Weird Dating Place I

The sun in the sky above White Moon Castle began to dim when Cley placed his pen and stretched his arms upwards, followed by a tired breath that came out of his mouth.
"Finally, it finished!" he said as soon as he dropped his hands. His back leaned against his chair.

While Claire tidied up her twin's reports since her work was done a long ago.
"Slow as usual," Claire teased. They always got the same amount of documents with the same level of difficulty. But Claire could always finish it faster, sometimes she helped Cley so he could finish faster.

"Geez! I do my best, ya know. Don't complain," he said in annoyance. He stood up from his chair and stretched his body to relax his muscles once more. Right now, there were only the two of them in that room. Angel had left the place since this afternoon to have lunch with Rose and the other delegates, so they do their usual ritual freely, sibling quarrel.

"If you don't want to listen to my complaints, you should improve your writing speed," said Claire. After she finished placing Cley's reports on the king's desk, she stepped toward the door.

"Believe me, I'm trying," he grumbled. He also walked towards the door, following Claire.

They had just left the room, but Chancellor Allan walked toward them in a hurry.

They bowed to greet him.
"Your Grace."

"Is His Majesty still inside?" Chancellor Allan said without further ado.

"The king has been gone since the afternoon. Do you need anything, Your Grace?" asked Claire politely.

Chancellor Allan pulled out an envelope from inside his blazer.
"I forgot to give him this report. He needs this to make a decision about---" Chancellor Allan suddenly stopped his words. He couldn't possibly say it was a report about Pearl Gate City since it only opened the wound in the twins' hearts.

The twins frowned in confusion.
"About what, Your Grace?" Claire said.

"It's an important report. I have to give it directly to His Majesty." Finally, Chancellor Allan decided to keep it a secret. A few months had passed since the Pearl Gate City incident and Angel hadn't done anything but sealed it. Chancellor Allan didn't know what Angel's plans were, but Angel had asked the high nobles to write down their opinions and suggestions for the city.

"But His Majesty is with Her Highness now. Are you sure you want to disturb them?" Cley said.

Hesitation filled Chancellor Allan's face. An afternoon walk was one of the forms of the royal couple's intimacy. This was very important considering that Angel and Rose were married for political reasons. They needed a lot of events so they could get to know each other more personally.

"You can give it to us, Your Grace. We'll put it on his desk and make sure he checks the report tomorrow morning," Claire said.

Chancellor Allan was silent, deep in thoughts. Indeed it was the best decision, but some nobles' opinions in that report were too heartless for Cley and Claire. Like, some suggested destroying the city with an explosive spell and burying everything just like that since handling it would cost a lot of money. So the compensation money could be used to develop the other three trading cities. After all, with a dark past like that, Pearl Gate City couldn't be a trading city anymore and no one wanted to live there. It was logically right, but it was too heartless since that meant all the bodies were not properly buried.

"Thank you for your offer. But I think I have to deliver this by myself. Can you tell me where His Majesty is?" Chancellor Allan said. There were so many other kingdoms' delegates at this time. So he didn't want to do anything that could cause a ruckus. Who knew what Cley and Claire would do if they read this report?

Even though the twins were confused since Chancellor Allan had never behaved like this, they decided to tell him.
"They're walking around the training ground, Your Grace," Claire said.

"Pardon? Training Ground?" said Chancellor Allan in disbelief. He even doubted his ears.

A newly married couple strolling around in the training ground instead of the garden?

"Yes. He told us before leaving the study that he would take Her Highness for a walk at the Training Ground after lunch," Cley clarified. Well, it was His Majesty after all. His cold heart was well known through Euphorion and he never missed his training every evening. Bringing his wife to the training ground was not something that surprised them anymore.

Chancellor Allan's jaw dropped.
"Both of you come with me. We need to see him now," Chancellor Allan muttered. His feet immediately moved towards the training ground in a hurry. He knew the king had no experience in this, but he didn't think he would be this bad.
'Is he not interested in anything other than his work and duties?'

While Claire and Cley followed him. Even though Chancellor Allan didn't say anything, from his expression, they could already guess what was on his mind. And yes... Euphorion seemed to need another miracle to make the king fall in love.
