Chapter 360: The Orphanage

Michae left the estate, leaving behind Dylan and Randy.

Dylan stayed because he still needs to meet Allison’s other relatives who are still making their way here for the family gathering while Randy stayed there to keep an eye on him, and at the same time, to also have fun and get away from his tigress of a girlfriend, and her little tiger cubs who seems to really scare him a lot.

Michael drove for two hours before he arrived in Central City.

But he didn’t quickly drove home and instead made his way to somewhere.

Michael arrived before the gates of the local orphanage that he and Dylan had always frequented when they were studying in high school to help out the place.

"A lot has changed ever since then"

Michael couldn’t help but mutter with a smile on his face when he saw the once run-down orphanage building had finally taken makeover, making it really presentable and now looks like a cozy home for the kids living here.

"Michael! You’re here!"

When his car alighted along the gates, the nun who was busy watering the plants quickly noticed him and couldn’t help but shout towards him in surprise, so she couldn’t help but shout in surprise!

Because it had been quite a while since he had stopped by the orphanage.

"Hahaha, Sister Jessica! How have you been!? You’re still getting beautiful! Are you sure you’re really fit to become a nun?"

Michael laughed as he walked past the gates and gave the beautiful nun a quick hug.

Actually, the reason why they always came to this orphanage during their high school years is that Dylan would always forcefully drag him here because he once had a huge crush on this beautiful nun who seemed to have taken the wrong occupation growing up.

Michael doesn’t really care though as it wasn’t his life, to begin with.

"Uncle Michael!"

Suddenly, one of the kids spotted him at the gate and couldn’t help yell in surprise, grabbing the attention of the other kids.

"Uncle Michael is here!"

"Uncle Michael!"

A group of kids suddenly ran out of the house doors and quickly headed towards where Michael and Sister Jessica is.

Sister Jessica swiftly made her way to the side when she saw the stampeding kids heading towards them.

"Uncle Michael, you’re back!"

One of the kids jumped towards him in excitement and Michael doesn’t have much of a choice but to catch her as she’d certainly get injured if he dodges to the side.

But when he did that, another kid pounced towards him, then another kid, then another!

"W-wait! Calm down kid- ahhh!"

Michael finally couldn’t manage their weight and fell down on his back with the kids laughing around him, and Michael could only smile bitterly in the end.

"Kids! Calm down! Behave, and don’t embarrass yourself in front of your Uncle Michael!"

A nun whom Michael had never seen before came running after the kids and started lecturing the kids for their actions.

"Uhmm- I’m really not an uncle-"

"What would have happened if you had injured your Uncle Michael now?"

"Can you stop calling me un-"

"You’re already big kids, don’t let the younger kids copy your behavior, okay?"

"I’m still young-"

"Okay, that’s good, now apologized kids"

Michael was starting to get annoyed because this new nun he had never met before kept cutting him off and kept calling him an uncle, which he doesn’t like being labeled as one, because he is still young!

"We’re sorry, Uncle Michael!"

Michael could only laugh in the end as even the kids kept calling him uncle even though he’s not even that old.

"It’s fine, no worries!"

"But did you guys receive the packages I sent here the other day?" asked Michael as this was the reason why he came over.

"Yes! It was really awesome!"

"Yeah! I’ve never seen so many toys before! Thank you, Uncle Michael!"

"I got a doll and a lot of clothes!"

"Me too, but mine was a racing car! It was like Christmas again!"

"Uncle Michael! When are you gonna visit us in the game?"

Then the kids once again started to surround him, bombarding him with questions he can’t quickly answer.

So he just stood there like he was some kind of a tree, and ignored them.

"Now now kids, why don’t we invite Mr. Michael inside first, yeah?"

Sister Jessica quickly came over when she saw the predicament that Michael is in, as even the new nun is already standing at the side with a helpless look on her face while looking at the chaotic scene before her eyes.

"Okay~!"

The kids with bright smiles as they quickly turned around and made their way inside the house, while a couple of kids pulled on Michael’s hand, and the latter can only helplessly follow along, but at the same time, he was also wearing a warm smile on his face seeing how the kids had become energetic and cheerful.

When Michael made his way inside, he saw a lot of changes that took over the interior of the place.

The place has now a proper fireplace and TV set, and two shelves full of books,

The once dilapidated place is now full of life so unlike before, where they didn’t even have a proper sofa, and their fireplace was even on the verge of breaking down back then.

Their roofs where water would drip down inside every time that there’s heavy rain is now all fixed up.

"This is all thanks to you, to all your friends, and to the people that helped us," said Sister Jessica when she saw him looking around, mesmerized by the new surroundings.

The kids who were so eager to meet him earlier had suddenly dispersed and gone about to their own things.

Some went to play with their toys along with the other kids, some went to the kitchen to help out, while there’s also some who are busy with their homework.

"I see, but where’s the old lady?" asked Michael when he didn’t see the old director of the orphanage.

"Ohh, she went to the neighboring town to look after the old orphanage there" Sister Jessica said as she led Michael towards the kitchen.

Where Michael saw a cook, and a couple of the older kids helping around.

"Why would she go there?’ asked Michael as he suddenly started cleaning up some vegetables for the meal later.

While cleaning up the rice, Sister Jessica replied, "Well, the director of that place suddenly died, and the Old Director who is friends with the director of that place suddenly became its new owner. So she went over to see if she can get the kids here instead. So hopefully the kids are okay and they’ll come over here soon"

"Because you know, we have a lot of vacant rooms. All thanks to all the generous people who are still helping us" Jessica smiled brightly at Michael.

"Right, so who was that new nun earlier? Ughh, and she kept calling me Uncle" asked Michael when he remembered the new face he saw earlier.

Sister Jessica laughed when she heard Michael’s voice full of grievance, and even the other people inside the kitchen laughed along with her.

"Don’t mind her, and that’s Sister Roan, who came here a month ago"

"Is she good?" asked Michael, as he knows that being a nun doesn’t make you a good person.

After all, he almost died because of a nun who turned out to be an assassin, and also works as a real nun on the side, which was a shocker to him before as it was his first time seeing a real-life Assassin Nun.

"Yeah, she’s good with the kids, and the kids love her even though she’s really strict with their studies sometimes" Jessica whispered with a laugh.

After that, Michael continued helping around and cooked for the kids, and at the same time, he also started talking to the older kids and encouraging them as he knew the feeling of an orphaned who had always longed for the love of a parent.

But at the same time, he also told them that the orphanage is now their family who would always have their backs because they are lucky that this place is where they ended up instead of a sketchy orphanage that forces kids to work.

Michael didn’t take long at the orphanage as he just wanted to check up on them, and so he went back home after having a meal and after promising the kids that he would bring them around Nevareth when he comes over to the city they are at in the game.
