Chapter 704: Chapter 704 Red Clothes

Swish!

Above a certain county in the now chaotic Great Wu Empire.

The sound of rushing wind rang out as a ray of light flashed past in an extremely anxious manner.

The ray of light was a Spirit. It was surrounded by two halos that continuously absorbed the surrounding Genesis Qi.

This Spirit naturally belonged to King Wu.

He was currently fleeing like mad, fear flooding his face as his gaze constantly darted behind him. He could sense Zhou Yuan chasing him at full speed.

“That damned spawn of the Zhou clan!”

King Wu’s heart was filled with rage. He had swept through the Cangmang Continent like an unstoppable flood for so many years and built an impressive reputation for himself. When had he ever fled in such a pathetic manner?

“I should have killed that babe on the altar back then!”

King Wu had already repeated similar words countless times, making it clear just how much he hated Zhou Yuan at this juncture.

He was naturally aware of the chaos in the Great Wu Empire while he fled, but he did not dare to stop and give any commands. Due to Zhou Yuan’s dogged persistence, he would surely catch up to King Wu the moment he stopped.

Moreover, the other forces in the Great Wu Empire was incapable of stopping the Divine Dwelling stage Zhou Yuan.

Hence, even while knowing that the Great Wu Empire urgently required his presence, King Wu had no choice but to continue running for his life. After all, the Great Wu Empire would also be finished if he was slain by Zhou Yuan.

“It seems that I’ll have to lure him to the capital. I have made some preparations there that may be able to stop him.” King Wu’s eyes flickered in thought. He had a secret treasure in the capital that could recover his physical body. When that happened, he only needed to borrow the homeground advantage to beat back Zhou Yuan.

While such thoughts swirled in his head, King Wu cast away any hesitation. The Divine Dwelling stage halos emitted a radiant glow as his speed abruptly soared, turning him into a streak of light that soon disappeared into the horizon.

About half an incense stick after King Wu vanished, Zhou Yuan’s figure appeared in the sky. His eyes narrowed as he gazed in the direction of King Wu’s Genesis Qi undulations.

“The capital of the Great Wu Empire huh…

“It appears that you’ve yet to give up…

“Well I’m interested to find out how you’ll be able to make a comeback!”

Chilling killing intent flashed in Zhou Yuan’s eyes. This was the best opportunity to kill King Wu. To prevent any future problems, there was absolutely no way he would let King Wu off.

Swoosh!

Golden Genesis Qi exploded as Zhou Yuan transformed into a streak of gold that rocketed in the direction of the Great Wu capital city.

...

After desperately fleeing for several days, King Wu finally reached the capital.

King Wu’s Spirit stood in the sky above the capital. The city had already become a chaotic mess, evidently due to the news of The Great Wu Empire’s defeat.

King Wu’s expression was somewhat sorrowful as he recalled how grand of a sight it had been when he led the army out of this very city. Who could have expected that he would ultimately return alone like a dog that had been chased from its home.

“Cursed spawn of the Zhou clan, I will make you pay!”

King Wu’s voice was filled with resentment. After taking a deep breath, he decided to tarry no further. His Spirit had already grown quite sparse over the past few days, and without any Spirit nourishing items of a physical body, his Spirit would likely disappear from this world.

“I have a treasure called the Treasure Lotus Paste in the royal treasury that can reconstruct one’s body. This is the best time to use it.” King Wu’s Spirit moved, flying straight towards the royal palace as he rushed towards the treasury.

The treasury was a restricted area, and should have been tightly guarded. However, King Wu was puzzled to find that there were no guards to be seen, an observation that infuriated him. Could the guards have rebelled?

Most importantly, the treasury had best be untouched!

In his anxiousness, King Wu swiftly arrived outside the treasury. He breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing that the doors were still intact and in perfectly good condition. The treasury was protected by a secret mechanism that outsiders could not open.

King Wu did not have the time to wonder why the guards had vanished. He used a secret method to open the treasury and immediately dashed in.

The interior sparkled dazzlingly, but King Wu did not even glance at any of the treasures as he rushed directly towards the deepest area. Moments later, his Spirit arrived atop a stone platform, only to be horrified to discover that it was empty. The Treasure Lotus Paste had disappeared!

“God dammit! Where’s my Treasure Lotus Paste?!”

Wu Huang roared in anger as his Spirit rippled violently, his anger clearly reaching its peak.

Someone had stolen the Treasure Lotus Paste. This was clearly intentional!

“But I left a mark on the Treasure Lotus Paste. It won’t be so easy to steal it from me!” However, King Wu gradually regained his cool with a deep breath. He was dying to see who was so daring as to steal from his treasury!

King Wu immediately activated a secret art as his closed his eyes to sense the paste’s location.

A long while later, he suddenly opened them again as a puzzled look flitted across his eyes.

He had found the Treasure Lotus Paste, but he was confused because it was still within the palace, and had not left...

“Humph, no matter who you are, I will not forgive you for stealing from my treasury!” King Wu icily snorted. His Spirit moved, drifting out of the treasury and heading straight for the location of the paste at an astonishing speed.

He flew past in the palace, gradually heading deeper and deeper. In the end, he discovered that the paste was in the cemetery at the very back of the palace!

King Wu grew increasingly confused.

His Spirit drifted over and gradually came to a stop. The Treasure Lotus Paste was here. He looked to his front where a grand tomb stood.

At the sight of the tomb, King Wu’s Spirit began to violently tremble once more.

It was the queen’s tomb!

Splash.

Before a gravestone in the tomb was a figure in red. She held a bottle of alcohol in one hand as she gently sprinkled its contents on the ground, causing a fragrance to fill the air.

After pouring all the alcohol out, she stared at the tombstone as an indifferent voice sounded, “Father, this should be the second time you’ve come here after mother was buried, right?”

She slowly turned around, revealing an extremely beautiful face.

It was a lovely young lady in red with skin as white as snow. Her looks were outstanding, and merely standing there was all it took to make the desolate and lonely tomb become rather dazzling.

However, her eyes were akin to a deep rippleless pool.

She was clearly a girl, but an indescribable aura of reserved domineeringness spread from her body, making King Wu appear dim and dull in comparison, as if she was the true empress of the heavens.

King Wu was stunned for several moments, before he involuntarily cried out, “Wu Yao?!! Why are you here? Aren’t you supposed to be in Hunyuan Heaven?!”

However, wild joy quickly flooded his face.

“Great, you’ve come back at the right time! Quickly go and kill that devil spawn of the Zhou clan so our Great Wu Empire will no longer have any worries in the future!”

However, the girl in red did not move as if she had not heard him. Her rippleless eyes contained an almost emotionless indifference as they stared at the excited King Wu.

King Wu slowly realized that something was wrong. He glared at her and chided, “What the hell are you doing?!”

Wu Yao’s eyes lowered slightly. She reached out and gently caressed the mottled gravestone with a fair hand as a sliver of deep sadness appeared in the depths of her eyes.

Her cold and lonely voice fluttered in the desolate cemetery, “Father...do you still remember how mother died?”
