Chapter 5: Walker

The green-haired girl looked at the newly arriving figure of Crow, as she smiled, and said, "Hey there! are you also a new participant? what's your name? I am Emily!", she seemed to be the energetic type, as she spoke quite fast, and she smiled shined brightly.

Still, Crow only looked at her indifferently, his answer to her was pretty much, "...", nothing, he had made up his mind, not to create any friends here, he wanted to only win, as fast as possible, and have friends would only slow him down, especially when he noticed that she was only a D ranker, her aura even seemed weak for a D ranker, slightly above that of normal people, who were also D rankers.

Emily froze up a bit, especially, when she felt the air tense, and her body shivers slightly from feeling Crow's C ranker aura, she knew that this was a strong person, and from the looks of it, he didn't want to speak, so she shut her mouth and waited for the elevator to arrive.

She felt quite awkward, just waiting around, even inside the elevator, she couldn't speak, since she was alone with this cold menacing person, that looked like he would snap at the slightest movement. She was shorter than him, and so, he was also towering over her, she stood at 166 meters, and Crow was at 186 meters.

On the other hand, Crow wasn't paying her any attention, he only thought about where this first world was located, how they would enter it, and such. In the contract he had just signed to be accepted as a participant, there was a condition, stating, that he wasn't allowed to say anything about what he would be seeing now.

And, that whenever he would want to get out and take a small holiday, he would be injected with a serum, that would kill him if he revealed any information relating to how the Reader's Challenges operated.

This only served to make him more interested in this game, for what reason did they go to all these lengths to hide this information, he was going to learn about all of that very soon now.

After about two minutes or so, they reached floor 60, which also said a lot about the elevator's speed, the best thing about it, was that neither Emily nor Crow, had felt anything weird when riding it, they felt like the elevator was going at a normal speed.

As soon as the elevator opened up, and the both of them got out, they saw a man waiting for them there, he wore a black suit, with a red tight around his neck, he also wore sunglasses and had short blonde hair.

His expression was one of boredom, as he waited there, his back to the wall when he finally saw them arrive, his expression changed to a more serious one, he didn't talk much, and only said, "Finally han? good enough, I am bored of waiting around, let us go!".

With that, the man, who Crow assumed to be the agent named Walker, the middle-aged woman had told him about, started walking toward a door that led to the rooftop of this large building.

Crow and Emily followed after him, Emily wanted to speak, but soon found that this Walker guy, wasn't in the mood, his aura was the strongest aura she had ever felt in her entire life, it belonged to an A ranker.

Because of that, she decided not to say anything for now, and just followed after him silently. It only took them about a minute or so, to reach the rooftop. It was a large space for sure, there was already an airship waiting on it.

This airship could hold about 20 people, it looked to be around twice as big as a helicopter, and this rooftop was able to hold four of these at the same time. This airship looked like a submarine in shape, and it was colored completely white.

This type of airship was used for fast travel, it traveled twice as fast as a jet, not just that though, it was also comfortable, just like the elevator Crow took to get here, these airships were called, Fiasco.

Walker didn't waste any time, he quickly hopped inside the only Fiasco in here at the moment, Crow and Emily followed after him, just as quickly, after which, agent Walker closed the door, and said to the pilot, "You can go now, Joe!".

With that, the airship called Fiasco, started to fly in the air, Crow had never been in one before, he found a seat and sat, he felt that it was quite a nice and comfortable airship, especially with the view below him added as a bonus.

Inside this Fiasco, there were another 8 people aside from Crow, Emily, agent Walker, and the pilot, Joe. Walker seemed to take a quick glance at Crow's sword, which he had placed on his belt, Crow noticed him but didn't say anything.

Agent Walker then turned to look at the group of ten new participants, as he explained, "We are now going to a small island, where you will enter a blue portal, leading to the first of the nine worlds, Savara!".

That was all agent Walker said, it seemed like none of the participants present here had any questions for now, and so, silence roamed over the air. Crow noticed an orange-haired guy shivering.

He looked average, had some freckles, and wore sightseeing glasses, it seemed like he was scared for some reason, soon, others also noticed him, 'Why did you come if you're this scared? I think he should be able to resign now since we haven't reached the first world just yet!'.

'But he doesn't seem like he will be doing that! well, whatever, It's not my problem, he will probably end up dying in the first or second test at most, now that I think about it, how many tests are there in the first world, does every world has the same amount of test? well, I guess I will have to find out han?', just as Crow was thinking about that, Emily, the green-haired girl, raised her hand.

Walker noticed her and said, "You can just ask, we're not in class here!", it didn't seem like Emily was bothered by that, as she completely ignored it, and asked him the same stuff Crow was just thinking about.

Walker smiled at her, and said, "It's not my job to answer your questions!", Emily was confused by this, until she heard agent Walker continue, "I never said I will respond to your question did I?".

The Fiasco airship continued quietly after that, and, in about twenty minutes, they reached a small island, in the middle of the ocean. The Fiasco landed on the ground, and the participants got out.

On this island, existed only one large building, though it was empty inside, aside from a large blue portal in the middle. The group followed after agent Walker, and the pilot Joe, who seemed to be a B ranker.

Aside from two normal-looking D rankers, this place was empty, these two were assigned to help those who wanted to get out, they were the officers tasked with calling a Fiasco airship to come to pick them up.

They greeted Walker, and Joe, then returned to their little house, as for the participants, they were all mesmerized by the giant blue portal in the middle of this establishment.

Even Crow was shocked by it, he kept looking at it, and thinking to himself, 'This is the entrance to the first world, han? wow! the Reader really deserves to be the richest person, as well as the host of this game!'.

Walker looked at the small group of people present here, as he said, "Inside this portal, there are another 32 participants, that you will be going against in your first test! there is also a robot, he will be your first test supervisor, he will also explain to you the basic information, you need inside the nine worlds!".

"And well, that's it, get going now!", before anyone could start moving, one of the 10 participants asked in an angry tone, "You expect us to start the first test now? we just arrived here! shouldn't you at least give us one day of rest or something?".

Walker smiled as he looked at him, "No! your first test is now, if you don't like it, just quit now, and return with me and Joe to the city, any other useless questions?", the man that had just asked, was a very strong D ranker, probably the strongest of this group, he looked at Walker as he said, "Who do you think you are? you haven't been taking this seriously, I don't understand why they would hire someone as useless as you!".

Walker's smile grew larger, as he looked at this D ranker, he let loose his A ranker aura, as soon as he did that, the air around him cracked, unable to support itself with the intense pressure, Walker released on it.

The man fell on his knees to the ground, large amounts of sweat started pouring out of his body, his mind froze, and he couldn't think, he felt like he was an ant facing off against an elephant.

He simply stood no chance, even Crow started shivering from fear, he knew the difference between them was too large. "Don't you ever use that tone with me again, is that understood?", the man nodded immediately, he then heard Walker ask him, "So now, will you stay, or return?".

The man quickly opened his mouth, and said, "I...I will stay!". Walker smiled, and retracted his A ranker aura, as he said, "Good!".
