After he finished his conversation with Ea Sora decided to turn in for the night and after a good night's rest he was up and ready to tackle the next day. Apparently Ea didn't require sleep so she just went into stasis until Sora decided to get up. Though the strangest thing for Sora was despite getting a full 8 hrs of sleep the next morning his body felt sluggish and lethargic. According to Ea despite him being immune to the effects of sunlight his undead nature was still rejecting daytime movements.

Sora just shrugged it off as an inconvenience and hoped that maybe with time his body would adjust.

"You do know you don't actually require sleep that often right Sora?" Asked Ea

"Really?" Sora raised an eyebrow in surprise."Then what do you call last night then?"

"Habit, most likely." She responded expressionless. " I calculate you only need a full day of rest maybe once a month, unless of course you're worn out from magic expenditure."

"Hmm" he pondered Ea's words "Well I actually enjoy sleep so it's fine." He said nonchalantly.

"Of course you do, I'd expect no less from a lazy unmotivated man such as yourself, Sora." She responded with her signature stoic unemotional voice.

"I'm glad I could meet your expectations, Ea." Sora responded with an irked expression at his artifact spirit's sharp tongue. "Am I gonna have to put up with this shit for the rest of this journey?" He wondered to himself.

"I'm afraid Sora, I am not programmed to lie and I'd be remiss if I didn't inform you when my expectations match reality. She responded to the surprised Sora.

"You can hear my thoughts?" He asked bewildered.

"Yes, after we establish our bond our minds and memories are linked." She responded very matter of fact. "Though only for your surface thoughts it would require more effort to dig into your deeper consciousness."

"Oh, OK I guess." He said not knowing how to feel about this new development.

"But anyway Sora, isn't there something you wanted to do today?" She asked.

Then Sora perked up remembering his plans from the previous night to go hunt for a permanent base of operations. He had thought it would have taken him more time to find one hence the reason he bought a room for 3 nights with the hotel. Now that Ea was here however he could set out immediately and he knew exactly where to start.

"I wish I had known what that prism was before I rented the room, otherwise I'd have bought it for just two nights and not spent so much money." Sora thought to himself.

"Are you really gonna complain over having to spend a little extra money on a room?" Ea asked. "You do know that you possess a near infinite amount of whatever currency you would need in your gate right?

"Well, I um." Sora tried to think of a retort.

"Or are you just that stingy my pitiful master?"

"Hey, listen" He shouted back at the accusation. "When you grow up as I did without money you try to save where you can, and only spend on the essentials."

"Didn't you live at home with your parents jobless and spent all your allowance on anime's and manga's?" She asked

"That's besides the point." He quickly deflected realizing  he wasn't gonna win this argument. "Anyway let's get moving. I'm gonna need your help to find a base that meets all of my requirements."

After that Sora turned his shroud and had it change into another 3 piece suit that was maroon with a gray vest. After he finished fixing his hair and washing the sleep out of his eyes he turned to Ea.

"Is there an easier way for me to carry you around?" He asked "No offense but that is kinda an inconvenience to carry with me." He said pointing at the black pyramid.

"Good point." She responded then spread  her hands apart and the prism began to glow and change shape.

After the glowing died down again where the prism had been now sat a beautiful black ring with a red gem.

"Nice taste." Sora said approvingly, slipping the ring on his left index finger.

After Sora finished storing his old clothes in his gate and tidying up the room as he found he made his way to the main lobby. As he walked by the front desk he waved goodbye to Tina who was currently working with setting up a guest. She waved back while blushing a bit as Sora walked out the door.

"Well glad to see the compulsion worked or that could've gotten awkward." He thought to himself

As Sora walked down the sidewalk he had her research any houses that met his criteria in Kuoh town. As he walked, Ea listed the number of homes up for renovations and those that weren't. He still felt kinda fatigued by the sun's rays despite his immunity to it. He then recalled another inconvenience that troubled him the previous night.

"*Hey Ea do you possess any remodeling capabilities in your repertoire?*" He asked curiously.

"*I have some skills, yes but it depends on what I'd be remodeling.*" she responded

"*Good*" He said excitedly "*It seems because of my undead nature I can only consume blood. I was hoping you could fix that for me so I could enjoy some regular food.*"

"*Unfortunately I am unable to remodel organic beings especially on a genetic level.*" She responded flatly.

"*Really?*" He responded sadly as his hopes of eating some delicious delicacies went up in smoke.

"*Well perhaps if you didn't lack the ability to pay attention to details you could've made countermeasures for your palate, as you did for your weaknesses to sunlight and holy items.*" She responded emotionlessly.

There was radio silence for a few minutes in his head after Ea’s sharp remark.

"*You know you could've just said no Ea.*" He responded.

You are reading story Otaku Overlord at novel35.com

"*I know.*" She responded

"*This is gonna be a long journey for both of us I see.*" He thought of the dreadful days ahead.

Ea just gave him a mental shrug in response. After that they finally started to investigate houses that Ea had shown him mentally and he went to their locations one after the other.

He found a problem with each one he found were either too small, too large, too isolated, or too accessible. As he discarded one house after another Ea asked him what exactly he was looking for and why this city was so important.

He explained that he needed a medium size house that was inconspicuous and wouldn't draw attention good or bad. That it couldn't be so isolated no one saw it but not over accessible that anyone could approach without him noticing.

Then he explained that it has to be this city as this city will be the epicenter of many future events, and he plans to be right in the middle of all the action under every faction's nose. He also told her there was one other reason and she would see it in the very near future.

After walking for a while and it was already well past noon Sora was starting to worry that no house would meet his requirements, and he would have to compromise. It was then he saw the perfect home and checked every box.

It was far enough from the street that it was separated from the other rows of houses. It was medium sized, it was a two story obviously with four-five bedrooms. It was sleek and unassuming but not run down or mundane. Bonus points: it was also a walking distance to a certain individual's house and academy.

"*It's perfect!*" He thought. "*Ea we need to get this one.*"

"*It's not up for sale Sora.*" Ea replied

"*Doesn't matter, get the legal documents ready now.*" He ordered as he walked up to the front door, materializing a duffel bag into his hand.

He knocked on the door and a middle aged man came out to greet him.

"How can I help you?" Asked the man confused by the strangers abrupt arrival

"I love your house." Sora replied with a smile. "It's the nicest one on the block."

"Th, Thanks." The man responded, growing more confused by the strange visitor."I'm sorry but is there something you want?"

"Yes, yes sorry I would like to buy your lovely home." Sora responded with a smile.

"What?" Asked the man confused. "It's not for sale." He said as he started to close the door until Sora reached out and held it open.

"I've done some research and I believe its retail value is just over six hundred thousand." He continued reciting the information Ea was feeding him, as the man struggled against his grip with both arms trying to close his door.

"Like I just said it's not for sale." The man responded angrily "Now move your hand."

Sora's smile turned into an annoyed frown as he looked at the pink little man then stepped forward his eyes began to glow crimson.

"You are going to...." Sora stopped himself mid sentence "Let me show you something for a second." He said turning around to grab his duffel bag.

As Sora unzipped the bag he pulled out  a clipboard with documents attached that Ea had prepared. Inside the bag were bundles of cash that could be seen clear as day. The middle aged man approached the bag like a fly to a bug zapper.

"This is 1.5 million dollars, and I would like to give this to you for your home." Sora said, smiling once again.

"You can't be serious." said the man baffled

"Completely." Sora said with a dead serious tone

"But why? You could buy two houses with this much money?"

"I know it's exciting, isn't it?"

"Is this legal?" The man asked.

"Absolutely, I've had a retail agreement drawn up." Sora said as he handed the man the clipboard and documents Ea had materialized.

"Well you know I'm gonna have to have a lawyer look this over before I can agree to anything." He said going through the documents.

"Feel free I don't want you to feel pressured." He said reassuringly. "Only one catch If you agree you have to be packed up and moved out by tomorrow evening."

"O, OK" the man stuttered.

"If you choose to sign of course."  Said Sora giving him another smile.

After that Sora began his walk back to his hotel room and Ea questioned him as he walked.

"*I don't understand, why didn't you just use your compulsion on him? Why did you give him so much money?*"

"*Two reasons*" Sora responded "* One, in the very near future two troublesome presidents are going to investigate me so I need everything airtight. Second, As you said earlier I have plenty of funds. In the long run its a speeding ticket thats all.*"

"*I see*" she responded.

"*Now let's head back and get some grub because after tomorrow when we move in we're gonna have to do some serious renovations, and then we can begin the next step of my plan.*"
