Chapter 76: CH.76 Breaking Alice’s Bubble

I followed Christina to Alice’s bedroom. It was a little smaller than the master bedroom I was in yesterday, but larger than my guest room. There were bookshelves, dressers, a large desk and I think that door might lead to a walk-in closet.

Her bed on the other hand, well, I couldn’t exactly see it. I knew where it was, that much was obvious, but I couldn’t see the bed itself. There was a sphere of darkness around it.

Jenna was in the room. She was on her knees next to the dark sphere, crying. Or at least I think she has tears in her eyes. I guess she might feel like she is the big sister of Alice and being unable to comfort her during the time Alice needs her the most might be painful for her.

“So this is what she did.” I said quietly.

Jenna turned around and looked at me.

“Lord Brian. Can you do something? Please.” She said as she came to me and took my hand.

“That’s what I’m here for. I think I can break the spell, but I have no idea about what follows.” I told her.

“Please. I’ll do anything.” Jenna begged.

…Why do these girls keep saying that? First it was Lucia and now Jenna as well. Please take better care of yourself. Well, I guess I could use her as a test subject. NO! Bad brain. This is not the time for that.

I opened my collection and pulled out the Mystical Space Typhoon that now had a toploader around it. I hope this is all it takes to take care of this. I would prefer to do it without a summon, but if necessary, I won’t hold back. I hope Dark Sage has had his rest.

“Is everyone ready?” I asked.

“Yes.” I heard from Christina.

“Please do it.” Jenna begged.

The other maid stayed silent, but as I looked at her, she gave a small nod.

“I’ll just warn you, I honestly have no idea what will happen. I think Alice’s spell will break, but I have no clue about anything else.” I warned them. This is what I get when I don’t experiment beforehand.

I hold the card in my hand and call out its name. “Mystical Space Typhoon.”

A small wind whirled in the room, it was nothing that would be dangerous, but the skirts of the maids might rise from it. The whirlwind went over to the dark bubble, pierced it, and caused it to fall to pieces.

From the dark sphere, a bed was revealed and on it was a girl dressed in a nightgown. Alice. Her eyes were now wide open as she looked at her spell shattering around her.

“How?” I heard her say.

“Good morning, Alice.” I said to her. “I came to get you for breakfast.”

I tried to sound casual, as if I had not been scared about this plan just a moment earlier.

“How did you..?” Alice was muttering, but it got interrupted as she got a hug attack from Jenna.

“Alice, please never do that again.” Jenna said, crying while she was hugging Alice. I don’t think that is proper for a maid.

“Jenna?” Alice said quietly. “...I…”

“Just calm down, both of you.” Christina came into the conversation. “It’s all fine now.”

She also made her way to the bed and joined in on the hug.

“But Alice, let’s never do that again.”

…Should I be here for this? I honestly feel like I shouldn’t. I think I’ll just quietly walk out of the room and wait outside.

I try to sneak out, but Alice catches my intentions and calls on me.

“Brian, don’t leave.” She said.

Fine. I’ll stay.

The group hug between the three ladies, no that doesn’t sound correct, woman? Girls? Well, whatever. It went on for a few minutes, but for me it felt like an hour. Just looking at the three of them hugging each other with more love than I have ever gotten. Even when I was with Laura. I don’t think she ever showed that much love to me. But I guess thinking something terrible is going on brings out these feelings. I was extremely emotional yesterday after Alice reminded me of home.

“Are you feeling better?” I heard Christina ask Alice.

“...I think so…” She told her.

“Why would you hole up like that?”

“...I just… didn’t know what to do… Brian just…” Alice tried to tell her side of the story.

“I know it can be tough. I heard he rejected you, but you also need to give him more time. He just got to know you. Just because he said no yesterday, doesn’t mean he will say no after a bit more time.” Christina instructed her daughter.

Alice turned her face to me. “Do you hate me?” She asked.

Well, that’s a simple one. “Of course I don’t.” I answered. “Do you think I would have come here to get you out of your spell if I did?”

“...so you don’t. Thank you.” Alice responded. “...does that mean… We can go out today? On the date?”

… Now she shot me with that question. I guess I should have expected it.

“Sure. We can go on a date.” I told her. I honestly don’t mind doing it. I’m just not ready to get super serious. Yet.

“... then I succeeded.” Alice said quietly.

Wait what? She planned this? But what about Jenna’s reaction? Or even Christina? How many of them were in on this?

… I would guess Jenna wasn’t. Her reaction was way too genuine. But Christina and that other maid? They might have just been. Well, I guess they won. At least on some level.

A growling stomach is what interrupted our heartwarming cuddle session. Not that I was part of it, but the other three had fun. I guess we haven’t had breakfast yet.

“I think our breakfast is waiting for us.” Christina said as she let go of Alice.

I went outside the room to give Alice time to change, waiting for her little like Christina was waiting for me outside of my room just a little earlier.

When Alice came outside with Christina, she immediately made her way to me and took my hand in hers.

“Why the rush?” I asked her.

“I need to make sure you don’t run away.” She answered.

“...well I wouldn't get far without any food.” I joked.

“Says the one riding dragons.” Christina commented. Did she hear about that?

“Did you hear about that?” I asked her.

“You told us about it yesterday.” She reminded.

“Oh yeah, I did.” I recalled. “I thought maybe you got a report from an irite man. I was flying too close to his crew and gave them a scare. He got a little angry about it.”

“I see. I didn’t hear about it. I did get a report from the guards. They said you reported about a dragon that was your summon, but that was the only report.” Christina told me. So Bakula company didn’t report on it? Did Kevin even tell the boss about it? Also how do I not know his name? Did he not introduce himself? Or did he assume I knew it? Is he Bakula?

“I see. Well, you know it was me, so no worries right?”

“You should still be careful. A lot of the townsfolk are still nervous after the wyvern attack and having a dragon flying around is not for the best. Even if they are told the dragon belongs to you.” Christina told me.

“So I guess I can’t take Alice flying.” I responded.

“I think that would be for the best.” Christina said. “Or you’ll need to use a different summon for it.”

“But I want to ride a dragon.” Alice argued.

“Then make sure to make Brian fall in love with you.” Christina instructed her daughter.

“I will!” Alice said with vigor.

I guess I have no say in this matter. Well, it might still go fine. Other than the age problem and my overly recent breakup, I really don’t know if there is a reason I couldn’t fall in love with Alice. I hope I won’t see her as just a little sister before that happens though. At least on some level I feel like that is where I would be heading if things didn’t go as they did last evening. I guess I would make a good doting big brother. Giving her gifts one after another.

We enjoyed our breakfast and afterwards, Alice and I prepared to head out on our date. Well, I was already prepared for it, so I just waited for Alice in the front garden.
