CHAPTER 22
After the birthday party myself, Betty, Muni, and Koshiro spent the next couple of weeks working on the menu and a few other things for the still unnamed restaurant. We heard how intrigued the townspeople were with what was going on. Summerstar was a quiet town that didn’t change very much, so this change, even though it was small, garnered the attention of the citizens. There was worry that the restaurant wouldn’t open at all, but most of the interest regarded what food we were going to serve. The birthday party catering job was a tremendous success, not monetarily, of course, but it boosted our reputation, sparking interest in what we would do with our next venture. Betty had given me almost free rein with decisions regarding the operations of the restaurant. It was almost as if she planned to hang up her apron and retire soon. I expected Muni to have some concerns and hard feelings that I had become such a big part of the business after only being around a short time. I wouldn’t have blamed her for feeling that way. However, she didn’t seem to mind at all. She was happy I was there. I could see something happening romantically between us eventually, but it wasn’t something that I wanted to push. Whatever was going to happen would happen eventually. If we stayed friends, that would be perfectly fine. However, our periodic flirtatious conversation told me otherwise.
It had been a short time, but I was falling in love with my kitsune companion, Koshiro. Our relationship continued to blossom after my arrival. A few days earlier, I moved from the guest room in her apartment into her bedroom permanently. Koshiro had her quirks. Some of them were scary. Anytime someone showed any negativity or disrespect to me, she would fly off the handle. Luckily, I had had no run-ins with anyone that would unhinge her recently. She felt the need to protect me, and I certainly appreciated it, even though I needed very little help with my extensive powers. It was good to know I had someone that had my back like she did, even if she scared me a little.
My budding relationship with Muni didn’t seem to bother her. She wanted to be my number one, but she was open to adding Muni as a companion for me. She used the term harem over and over, which made me a little uncomfortable. I pictured me sitting on a golden throne in a sheik costume with half-naked women all around me, feeding me grapes, pouring me wine, fanning me and providing me with sexual favors whenever I wanted. That’s what I saw in my mind when I thought of the word ‘harem.’

I opened the front door of the restaurant and motioned for three men to enter. I had a surprise for Betty and the girls. I purchased three more arcane stoves for the kitchen. Each stove was much larger than the ones that she already owned. I knew we would be bombarded by more patrons once we opened the doors for business. There was just too much hype surrounding the place. With my genius level cooking skills, I could cook more food faster than a regular cook. With all due respect, Betty could not keep up with the amount of traffic that we were going to receive.
Betty’s eyes opened wide and her jaw almost dropped all the way to the floor. “Chad, what have you done? New arcane ovens? This is amazing! This is too much. I can’t accept these gifts.”
“You can and you will. The dungeon carries at Stonerock gave me much more money than I need. I wanted to purchase these. I have a bunch of credits left, so don’t worry about it.”
“But this…,” Betty’s voice trailed off and her eyes filled with tears.
Muni darted over and embraced me. “Thank you for this. You don’t know how much it means to us. Your belief in us and this restaurant is amazing.”
Koshiro embraced me from the back, creating a Chad sandwich. That might work as a burger name? Maybe?
“My Chad is so wonderful. He makes me so happy and my panties wet.”
“Koshiro! Grandmother is right over there! Gross!” Muni exclaimed.
“Girls, don’t mind me. If I was forty years younger, Chad might do the same thing to me,” Betty chuckled, then went into the kitchen to check out her new ovens.
Koshiro made a barfing sound that almost had me convinced I would see puke flying out of her mouth. “That is the nastiest thing I’ve heard in all my life. I need to go to a wizard for a mind wipe. Gods.”
“I’m not sure if I’m supposed to be flattered or grossed out,” I pondered.
Muni exhaled and sat down. “I want to personally thank Koshiro for putting an image in my head that will never leave me for as long as I live.”
“Muni, don’t be a drama queen,” Koshiro scoffed.
Muni stared straight ahead in a daze. “I’m serious, oh my gods. I want to kick you right in the vagina for this mental trauma. Why would you do this to me?”
“Am I going to see my first girl fight? Do I need to get the mud ready?” I asked with a shit-eating grin on my face.
Muni stood and placed her hands on her hips. “I don’t think it would be much of a fight. Look at Koshiro’s arms. They’re like two noodles attached to a big boobed torso.”
Koshiro’s jaw dropped, and she gasped deep enough to transform the room into a vacuum. “I have muscles! Look!” Koshiro raised both arms and grunted as she flexed her biceps. I saw a vein poking out of the side of her forehead. It looked like it would burst at any moment.
“You’re going to pass out,” I whispered into her fluffy red ear.
“No, I won’t. Now stop distracting me,” Koshiro replied through gritted teeth.
“Chad, do you want to see some real muscles?” Muni asked as she raised her arms slowly, winking at me. The blue-haired catgirl flexed her biceps while she locked eyes with me. They were much larger. “What do you think?”
“They’re nice,” I stammered.
“What about mine, Chad? Are mine nice too?” Koshiro asked as she continued to flex her little arms.
“Yes, they’re nice too. Relax, your face looks the same color as an apple,” I replied as I rubbed one of her ears. She loved it when I did that.
She closed her eyes and moaned. More importantly, she unflexed and her color came back.
“I win,” Muni chirped.
“Looks like I’m winning right now. Have you had an ear rub from Chad yet?”
Muni exhaled playfully and stuck out her bottom lip. “No, I’m afraid not.”
“That’s what I thought,” Koshiro rasberried.
Fortunately, we didn’t have a girl fight. Even though it would have been a turn on, I’m fairly certain that Koshiro had a knife stashed somewhere and would stab Muni seventy-five times, leaving our new floor bloody.
“These arcane stoves are amazing!” Betty shouted from the kitchen. The men had finished with the installation quicker than I expected. I nodded and thanked them on their way out. Little did Betty know, I had another arcane cooler and arcane sink on the way as well. The arcane sinks were super cool and useful. You placed a dirty dish in the sink and it would be washed instantly.
“If things take off like I’m expecting. We’re going to need to hire another employee. We need servers,” I mentioned.
Out of the blue, Koshiro spun around on one leg like a ballerina. “I’ve got a solution to that problem already, hot stuff.”
“You know someone?” I asked.
“Claire. We talked about her. She’s a holstaur with giant tits and produces a lot of yummy milk. Remember?”
“Oh yeah, do you think she would take the job?”
“I’m sure of it. She’s wanted a job here for a while, but we didn’t need the extra help. She’ll be thrilled.”
“Look at Koshiro with the good idea. They are few and far between,” Muni smirked.
Koshiro promptly gave Muni the middle finger. “Bite me, pussycat.”
Somehow, Betty overheard our conversation about Claire and agreed. Koshiro clapped her hands excitedly and took off out the door to find the holstaur.
“She’s something else,” Muni chuckled. “Koshiro, I mean.”
I snorted and nodded in agreement. “She’s unlike anyone I’ve ever met. She’s a handful. I’m not going to lie, but she’s worth it.”

“We bust each other’s balls a lot, but I love her so much. We’ve been through a lot together and her loyalty to me and grandmother has been extraordinary. I don’t know what we would do without her.”
“Yes… loyal is a perfect word to describe Koshiro. There are a lot more words to describe her, but that is one of the big ones.”
“What words would you use to describe me?” Muni asked with reddening cheeks.
I looked her up and down, tilting my head to the side. “Smart, mature, leader, and sexy would be a few.”
Muni walked over slowly with lustful eyes. She placed her hand on my chest and exhaled softly. “Those are good words. Thank you.”
“They’re true.”
Muni pulled me in for a kiss. It was something I hoped would happen. In all honesty, it happened a lot sooner than I expected.
We pulled away when we heard a dish shatter. Betty stood at the kitchen doorway with wide eyes. “Don’t mind me. I’m just a clumsy old lady. Please continue.”
We’d forgotten that she was in the kitchen. We locked eyes with each other again and went in for another kiss. Her lips were soft, and she tasted like strawberries. Her breasts were so large that it was impossible for her to kiss me without smashing them against my chest. I wasn’t complaining.
A loud gasp startled us once more at the front door. “What in the flying fuck is going on?”
“Sorry, it was just time. I couldn’t wait any longer,” Muni replied as she laid her head on my chest. The tips of her ears fluttered on my neck and gave me goosebumps.
I fully expected Koshiro to go into rage mode and pounce on Muni. However, I was surprised to see a smile forming on her pretty face.
“I’m happy for you. However, I wish you would have just done it in front of me. Doing it after I left was a little shady.”
Muni rolled her eyes. “Psh, I didn’t want our first kiss to be in front of anyone.”
“Well, you shouldn’t have done it while I was right here in the kitchen,” Betty interjected from the kitchen doorway.
“So you did it in front of Betty, but not me? Fuck you Muni!” Koshiro growled.
“In our defense, we forgot she was there. Sorry, do you want us to kiss now?” I asked.
“Sure, but this time I want to see you slip the tongue.”
“Koshiro!” Muni balked.
“Do it, otherwise I’m going to be pissed for the rest of the day.”
“Muni, I don’t think any of us want hurricane Koshiro for the rest of the day,” I added.
“I suppose you’re right. I’m game,” Muni replied with beckoning eyes.
This time, I pulled her in for the kiss. After a few seconds, I slipped my tongue in her strawberry flavored mouth meeting hers. The kiss went on for about thirty seconds before we both turned toward Koshiro for approval.
“That’ll do. It was hot. I thought I would be more jealous, but I got a little wet. I’m still a little jealous, though. Chad gets to go home with me at night though… haha,” Koshiro rasberried.
“We’ll just have to visit the storage room out back from time to time. I can have his days and you can have his nights,” Muni smirked.
“Are you going to fuck him already? Gods, you are a whore.”
Muni scoffed. “Am not. I am pretty sure I remember you sleeping with Chad like a day after he arrived. I’ve gotten to know him over a few weeks at least. If one of us is a whore, you are most definitely the whore.”
“Whatever. You just can’t fuck him unless I’m around. It’s just wrong.”
Muni laughed. “How is that wrong?”
“Because I’m like his #1 harem girl. I need to be involved in these things.”
I cringed. “This is a really weird conversation. I’m gonna go check out the new ovens. Please continue, though.”
******
Boom, boom, boom!
Muni’s eyebrows pinched together. “What the hell is that?”
“Yes, they’re here!” Betty shouted as she rushed out of the pantry where she had been organizing some fresh supplies.
“Who is ‘they’?” Muni asked, even more confused.
“It’s the elf from the sign company downtown. He’s putting up the new restaurant sign,” Betty replied, nearly out of breath.
“We don’t even have a title yet,” Muni expressed.
“I forgot to mention that I came up with one. My apologies,” Betty announced.
Muni, Koshiro, and I made our way toward the front door. A small crowd of onlookers had already gathered to check out the commotion. From Betty’s excited expression, the new sign was exactly what she ordered. I couldn’t wait to see what she came up with.
Koshiro moaned. “This is bullshit. We didn’t get a say in this? We’ve gotten a say in everything else over the past couple of weeks.”
“Well, it is Betty’s restaurant. She can do what she pleases,” I remarked.
When the Koshiro opened the front door, the new silver bell hanging above jingled. A group of townspeople stared upward with a sense of wonder and excitement. I turned to see what the new name of the restaurant was.
“New Beginnings,” Betty blurted immediately before I caught a peek. “What do you think?”
